RE: Thor (ACE) thumbs up or down?

Our 30.1 2015 bought new has had a few issues but nothing bad enough to make us sorry about the purchase. Replaced the outside TV twice then waterproofed the chamber and no more problems. It is an entry level coach and the size and floor plan fit us well so would do it again. Jim.

RE: Leaving dog at campsite

Our dogs are not big barkers but will bark when someone or something is close to the MH. We have a sound activated device that puts out an ultrasonic sound when activated. A couple barks and that is all, they quit. Before we leave I show it to them and that usually keeps them quiet. Jim.

Central Indiana to Idaho

I have the basic route planned out but am looking at an option and would appreciate any feedback on that. We will take I-74 across Illinois then end up on US-20 across Iowa to I-29. Now my first thought is I-90 into Idaho but we could go up I-29 to I-94 until it joins I-90 In Montana. I also see getting off I-94 at Glendive and going to 200 across most of Montana back to I-90. What should we expect to find in mountains and road conditions etc. if we would try that route? Not looking for things to do, we are just going out for a short visit so just traveling through and thought maybe go out one way and back the other. That way we would get a little different scenery on the return trip. Road conditions and RV friendly places to overnight, rest areas etc. Thanks, Jim.

RE: 2014 Thor

We have a 2015 ACE 30.1 and have been happy with it. Little things have needed to be addressed but nothing I couldn't take care of myself. Still consider it a good buy and value for the money. Jim.

RE: Overnight stop near Atlanta

Altoona Landing! IIRC we stayed there once on the way back north and would never stay again. We got there late and left early but the staff seemed nice and the campgrounds were also nice. The problem was the train that ran about every hour all night blowing it's whistle every time. Jim.

RE: RV lot OWNERSHIP - deeded lot ownership, live year round

Relatives were looking at a permanent place in a 55+ park and ended up with a nice place. One that they looked at said their adult but under 55 kids could not use it unless they were there also. Deal breaker for them but I am sure a lot of people would be fine with that. Point being make sure you know the rules ahead of time. Jim.

RE: Illinois state park alcohol rules

I live near Kickapoo state park in Illinois and it is posted no alcohol but not normally enforced if discrete. Another thing you might check would be county parks in Illinois. There is a nice one nearby that does allow alcohol but will toss you out if rowdy. Each county park sets their own rules. Jim.

RE: Blackstone Griddle

THe camp Chef looks like a decent item. More versatile then the Blackstone. However the blackstone Griddle is cast iron which makes allows for more heat retention and creates a better cooking surface. Sorry but the Blackstone is steel, I have the 28" and the 17" griddles. At 3/16" thick the steel holds the heat well also. Jim.
