I'm more optimistic and realistic than most of the previous posters. The tongue weight given by the manufacturer is set by the such things as the configuration of the equipment in the trailer and the distance from the hitch point to the axles. Unless you load your things in the trailer very oddly, the tongue weight percentage will remain very close to the same, loaded or unloaded. Even if the batteries and propane are not included in the dry weight which is rare these days, that weight is distributed between the axles and the tongue and not all on the tongue. If you load 1000 pounds in the trailer (which is quite alot for one; my wife and I add less that 1000 pounds not including water), 10 percent tongue weight will put you right at 700 pounds. Adding in the other weights you listed will reduce your available payload to 270 pounds. I don't see a problem with these numbers.

Still not enough to get excited about. My suspicion is that mono is slightly ahead in some conditions and poly is sightly ahead in others. Comes down to whether you like blue or black better and what is on sale.

Several problems with the testing. First, there is no full sun test to see how close they measure up to their rated output. This would have been the most important test for me. Second, the cloud conditions he shows are highly variable and there is no way to know how much time elapses as he changes between panels. I have real time output on my remote control panel and in those kinds of clouds the watt output is continually moving up and down as the clouds pass across the sun. Conclusion is that the variation in irradiance could easily be most of the difference in the output he showed. Third, the half-shaded panel either horizontal or vertical is a non-issue. In all cases the output is less than or equal to one amp. Who cares? None of them in those conditions will make a difference to your battery bank at the end of the day. Solar panel efficiency is calculated by dividing the rated output by the area of the panel. Since poly panels are larger than mono panels for the same output they are less efficient than mono panels. I just got back from a weeklong trip to the edge of the Flat Tops Wilderness in Colorado. The elevation of the campsite was 9,500 feet, the trailer was pointed due South, the panels have a natural tilt of 5 degrees due to the slope of the roof and a 3 degree tilt to the sides due to the curvature of the roof. I have the capability to tilt further but chose not to for enhanced shoulder time. Noontime temperatures were in the mid-80s. Three of the days had on-off clouds, sunshine, rain, from late morning to evening. As you all know, solar panels only produce what is used but here is my production for the eight days. 1.02 kwh, 71.7 ah 1.29 kwh, 92.1 ah 1.25 kwh, 90.2 ah 1.11 kwh, 81.8 ah 1.60 kwh, 115.4 ah 1.36 kwh, 97.3 ah 1.83 kwh, 132.1 ah 1.34 kwh, 95.2 ah Four of the days I had peak outputs of 379, 383, 406 and 394 watts. This is pretty good for nine year old MONO panels rated at 370 watts. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can never reach rated output of your panels. As far as mono/poly, buy what is on sale. There is not enough difference to matter.

RE: Graphics replacement

If you are looking for exact replacements they are usually hard to find. Here is a LINK to the company I used for replacements for my Cougar. Somewhat pricey but good quality. They also sell the glue remover (Rapid Remover) you will need after removing the graphics. I removed ten-year old graphics using a hairdryer on low heat with a plastic scraper. I found a heat gun was too hot. After I got a section started, I would gently remove the graphic with one hand as I applied heat just ahead of where the graphic was releasing. But where they were more brittle they would come off in bits. I then polished the whole camper with Meguiar's 105 compound to remove the oxidation. This was on fiberglass gelcoat. You will be left with ghost images where the old graphics were so if you put the same ones back on you will easily tell where they go. RE: How are your solar panels mounted?

Mine are able to tilt in four directions. No running up and down. I just set them at the "optimum" angle for the latitude and month. I generally don't tilt if I'm going to be some place less than three days. It's more advantageous to tilt the further north you are. Some of us don't have the space to just add one more panel.

The correct answer is they "run" everything. When the panels are producing power, any loads (as opposed to battery charging) on the system are first supplied by the panels to the limit of their capability with any remainder going to battery charging if they are not full. If a load is placed on the system greater than can be supplied by the panels, the batteries make up the difference with no charging taking place during that time (obviously). On average my panels send about 60 to 70 percent of the power they produce in a day to the batteries and the remainder to directly power systems.

RE: Why Tesla's are bad at towing!

Just some general observations from his excellent mathematical presentation, not necessarily EV related. 1. Rolling resistance is a higher factor than most of us acknowledge. In his example of the Model X towing at 70, the required energy is 100.4 kWh and 84 kWh at 60. Since speed only effects the aerodynamic portion of his example, subtracting the difference of 16.4 kWh from the Aero column leaves 29.4 vs 32.8 for rolling resistance. 2. It would have been nice if he had included a column depicting the effect of inertial changes such as accelerating from 0 - 60. In real life one would have accelerated and slowed down many times in that 100 miles especially in the mountains. However that would have made his example more complicated. 3. Real life, most people towing get about 10 MPG whether towing with small TV and small trailer or larger truck with a large trailer (assuming gas). Since gasoline has about 33 kWh per gallon, the trip would really take about 330 kWh.

I ran mine down the black tank vent and broke it out in the basement through a sealed fitting.

RE: Coiled outside shower

Turn off the pump or city water, open a tap to bleed the pressure and the quick connect is much easier to connect/disconnect.
