RE: Ocala, Florida

we stayed at wilderness rv resort in Silver Spring, fl which is just east of Ocala and on the west edge of the Ocala National Forest. It has been a few years ago but it was very nice.

RE: Roadside Assistance Companies

just do your research. Some of the regular auto insurance plans that people talk about on here do providing TOWING service and much more. Some insurance plans only provide TOWING service which is not the same as a Roadside Assistance program. Some will do tire changes on your truck but not your trailer. Be sure you know what is covered. think about different scenarios such as truck is broken down, will they tow truck and trailer or will trailer be left by side of the road? Two flat tires on trailer, will they bring and change the tires or only change the tires if you have the tires if you have two spares with you? These are the type of questions to ask now while buying a plan, not when you are sitting on the side of the highway.

RE: Newbie question

may be a quick question but not necessarily a quick answer. It depends upon 1) what else may be on the circuit in your friends house, 2) if it is a 15 amp or 20 amp breaker 3) how long of an extension cord you may have to use. 4) how good you are about managing the electrical loads. 5) whether your battery charger kicks on at the same time as your fridge or your AC, etc. we plugged into a friends house and everything seemed fine for a while and then his breaker would trip every time his freezer in his basement kicked on. turned out it was on the same circuit.

RE: Parking RV at home

We just got our RV and there is a lot to take in. Parked it at home for the first night. All we are doing is plugging the electricity in. Is there anything else to be done to park the RV at home? Hard to know what to tell you when you just say RV which could be anything from a pop-up to a 40+ foot Class A motorhome. I normally consider an RV a vehicle but some people call their travel trailers an RV.

Orlando FL to North Myrtle Beach SC

Been stuck in Florida for a while now. Heading to Myrtle Beach in July. Any suggestions on routing? It will be hot so we won't be doing any hiking concentrating on more of a golf trip. We are all set at our destination. Going to take 3 -4 days to get there. Any suggestions on leisurely routing and maybe a golf course along the way would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.

RE: Help with A/C freezing up ..

Fan not on high or auto? Freeze sensor dislodged from correct place? Bro in law was not sure, sis in law THINKS it was on high, but not sure.. I will say this, I kept experiencing "LOW VOLTAGE" as my Progressive Industries shut me down 3 - 4 times due to low voltage... Could that have been the issue? Does brother in law not have a Progressive unit to detect low voltage? Hope he didn't damage the air conditioner.

RE: Toilet Won't Flush

when our foot pedal stopped opening we were able to pry it open using a screwdriver to at least get the contents to empty. Just a work around. If you have something with a suction cup that you can get stuck onto the flapper and pull it back enough to get a screw driver stuck in there you will be in a better position to troubleshoot it.

RE: Confused and Frustrated

when you say live in full time, do you mean regularly traveling from place to place or just being in one place for months at a time?

RE: Tadi Bros wireless backup camera has intermittent problem

My information is old so you might have a different experience. We got a wireless Tadi color system in Jan 2015. Had problem similar to yours so we fought it for a while and then hard wired it in Jan 2016. It was better but then in Jul 2017, either the monitor or the camera went bad. Tadi couldn't tell us which and we were tired of trying to get it to work properly. We bought another system Rear View Safety and have been very happy with it.

RE: DirecTV dropping DNS

Going to look at converting the Winegard Traveler over to Dish. Are you expecting to get DNS via Dish? No but it sounds like it will be much easier to switch my locals when I move if I have Dish versus Directv

RE: DirecTV dropping DNS

I called AT&T today to cancel my Directv due to the problem with Distance Network being discontinued June 1 and the lady told me that they still had hopes that they may get the bill passed through Congress. I cancelled anyway. I have jumped through Directv hoops for over 20 years now and I am just done. Going to look at converting the Winegard Traveler over to Dish.

RE: Newbie's 5th wheel

do you know what a park model is because for what you are describing I think they would be much more suitable.

RE: Turn on my hot water!

be sure there is water in it before turning it on. If the tank is empty from being winterized, you will ruin the electric element

DISH TV - Locals

I am looking for more information about switching to DISH from DIRECTV now that the Distance Network channels are going away on June 1st. I have read about people using an APP to change their local network channels. Here are my questions - 1 - Is it true you can use an app to change your NBC, CBS, ABC, & Fox channels when you move locations? 2 - Is there a limit to how many times you can make a location change? 3 - Can you suspend and reactivate your service on the app? 4 - is there a limit to the number of times per year that you can suspend your service entirely? 5 - is there a minimum amount of time that your service must be turned on for? i.e. one month? 6 - is it activated by calendar month i.e. the 1st or can you turn it on on the 18th of the month? I'm going to be asking DISH these questions too but like to have some real world information before contacting DISH or Directv. Thank you for your time.

RE: DirecTV dropping DNS

If DTV truly ended DNS service they would also be able to convert NY and LA to spot beam as doing the CONUS broadcast would no longer be necessary. This would add additional capacity to their existing satellites. Bill that is exactly what I was thinking. Even if I went to the trouble to find an LA or NY address that AT&T would accept it might work for a while until they change those to spot beams like the rest of the country then I would be right back to where I will be on June 1st.

RE: DirecTV dropping DNS

We've had DirecTV service with DNS for over 15 years. My DNS service is grandfathered at BOTH coasts. Same here - this is going to be the last straw for us.

RE: DirecTV dropping DNS

I got the same email this morning from AT&T. I have been on the fence for a while about Directv but kept it going because we already paid for the Winegard traveler roof mounted sat dish and I felt like in for a penny in for a pound. If they don't come up with an online way to let me switch my locals as I travel, then we will be dropping them. It will cost us around $300 for the parts to switch the sat dish to DISH. Not sure if we will do that or not.
