RE: Oregon State Parks to add surcharge

AFHauler, the $5 fee is only when making a reservation for non-residents. Many states have such. It is not added to the daily camping charge. Maybe a minor difference, but not like OR adding up to 30% per day for non-residents!! I believe that when we went into BC a few years ago, we had to pay non-resident fees at both Nat Parks and BC Provincial Parks.
We weren't complaining about the fee. It's a beautiful continent we all live in and we 'were' lucky to be able to enjoy it. Hopefully we can do it again soon.

RE: Oregon State Parks to add surcharge

ksg5000, WA parks DO NOT (at this time!!) charge "extra" to non-residents!! They have various levels according to services and seasons. There is a charge for the "Discover Pass" to access day use areas and some other parks, but it is not charged for or required when paying for a campsite. If you are an oldie, you probably remember the fee wars of the '70s and early '80s when a whole bunch of states charged extra for non-residents. It was Oregon that started the war!!!
When we made reservations last year to stay at Cape Disappointment State Park in Washington in December 2019 we were charged $5.00 as a "non-resident recreation fee". We have been charged this fee whenever we made a reservation in Washington for several years now.

RE: How to clean the toilet flap thing...

It has stains on it....want to douse it with bleach but do not want to open up can of worms for hubby to fix the seal. He hates plumbing.
Any ideas...I did use clorox clean up beach to no avail...it works great on white sinks though if you let it sit for 10 minutes.
We have used paper towel with plain baking soda with some water to make a paste. It cleans the bowl real nice, too. Just be sure not to drop the paper towel into the holding tank.

RE: Splendide XC Combo oiling our clothes?

Page 15 of our instruction manual says to never use fabric softener sheets so we never have. It also mentions using a bio-friendly brand of liquid softener. We had never read that before so maybe that would make a difference with spotting. We had just used Downey before.

RE: Splendide XC Combo oiling our clothes?

We have been concerned about the oil spots on our lighter colored clothes and wondering where we got them. Our latest wash cycle oil spotted the back of my favorite white shirt and I know it had to be from the washer. Any ideas? Bob
We have found that fabric softener often leaves a deposit on the clothes. We got tired of having to rewash clothes so we stopped using Downey or anything and just use some dryer balls for static control, if necessary.
PS We have been using our Splendide for 5 years now.
