RE: Something I've not seen before.

FWIW, this is an excellent example why I hate Facebook. After spending some time trying to find the post about the trailer mishap, I've given up. Seems to be impossible to find a particular post, even if you posted on it. Anyone know how, I'd be grateful for a heads-up on how to go about it. If you go into your own profile, there is a little 3-dots thing on the side. Click into that and you will find your activity log. There you should be able to see everything you have commented on, posted and/or searched. The only reason you wouldn't be able to see that you commented on that person's post would be if that post has been removed for some reason. I know I have gone back to re-read posts I have commented on in the past only to find they have been removed. But if the post is still up, you should be able to find it that way.

RE: Insurance on a 2021 Fifth Wheel

Our lender requires full replacement coverage. Our insurance agent ended up recommending Nationwide. Right around $500/year for the unit we have. This is not connected with our truck insurance at all.

RE: Receiver Bike Racks

Unless something has changed, Swagman is the only bike rack manufacturer that has racks approved for RV usage. We have an RV-rated Yakima and are very happy with it... Friends have/had a Swagman and lost a bike during a trip we were on together. Several hundred dollars worth of damage to the bike...

Wisconsin recommendation?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a nice RV campground near the Road America track in Wisconsin? It's between Lake Winnebago and Sheboygan. We have a 30 foot 5th wheel. Full hook-ups would be nice; water and 50 amp electric are necessary.

RE: Honest RV Dealers - Are there any?

It was quite the process when we purchased our current trailer (Winnebago Minnie Plus 27RLTS 5th wheel) 2 1/2 years ago now. We did most of our research online and finally zeroed in on this model as the ONE that met all but one of our non-negotiable criteria. Then we started an extensive online search for dealers that carried this model. We found several around the country and were willing to travel for the right deal. In the end, it came down to three -- one in our local area and two in neighboring states within a half-days drive. All were small local dealers. We visited our local dealer (who actually didn't have this model in stock; we would have had to order) to just confirm that we liked the brand in terms of build quality, space, etc. The unit we ended up buying was one that hadn't been claimed by any of the larger dealers for their lots, so was just sitting at the factory. All three of the dealers we were trying to work with were basically bidding on that same trailer. In the end, we went with the dealer in a neighboring state. Just a "one-guy" shop. He gave us a great price on the trailer, sent one of his employees to Indiana to get it, agreed to switch out the tires for better ones before we even took it off the lot; and gave us a phenomenal trade value on the travel trailer we traded in. There were no "extra" or "add-on" kinds of fees -- just a straightforward "out-the-door" deal. He doesn't deal with financing, so we had pre-arranged our own, so it was also a very clean deal that way. I don't think we could have gotten a better deal or service. And, we purchased this unit totally sight unseen. We made the deal purely through telephone and e-mail. We never saw it before we went to pick it up. We have only taken it back for service twice and those were fairly minor issues which were dealt with the same day and the dealer has been more than willing to talk through other situations over the phone and teach my husband how to fix things himself. So, I think the answer to the OP's question is that yes, there are honest dealers, but you do have to do your research to find them. Know what you want

RE: Looking for a NW Iowa park

We just spent a couple of days at Newton Hills State Park south of Sioux Falls, SD. In that corner of the state that is just across the border from both Iowa and Minnesota. Very nice park. 50 amp service and big rig friendly with big, level sites. Would be very nice for the outing you describe. Blue Mound State Park in far southern Minnesota (near NW Iowa and SD) is also a nice park. (Sorry I didn't see your post sooner.)

RE: Glacier national park campgrounds

We have stayed at the West Glacier KOA. Very nice. Would definitely go back there.

RE: Where do you store your Shoes, Boots, Sandals and Slippers

We have an actual couch in our trailer, and I keep a couple of boot trays under there for storing the shoes. Works very well.

RE: Covid chores...check-off list

We don't really have anything that needs doing right now. I'm not even going to do the spring cleaning (it's still pretty clean from the pre-storage fall cleaning) or load it up with our stuff until I know we actually get to go somewhere. I'm sure DH will do a good wash and wax at some point, and get up on the roof to check everything up there (he's probably already done that...), but, again, no real motivation at this point. I think he is thinking about repacking the wheel bearings. Oh, we did switch out the door lock to a keyless entry. We haven't de-winterized yet either.

RE: Insurance

The terms of our loan require replacement coverage on the trailer until the loan is paid off. And even if that wasn't the case, even if I'm not traveling and the trailer is just sitting in my driveway, there are still all kinds of things that could happen to it. We won't be cancelling insurance.

RE: Glacier National Park Info

Glacier can be very crowded, especially in July and August -- prime time there. If you want to drive the Going to the Sun Road and stop at Logan Pass to do some hiking (the Hidden Lake trail is awesome!), you need to be there very early in the morning, like before 8:00, to get a parking space. Really, anything along that road fills up pretty quickly in the mornings. Some say that waiting until late afternoon is a good time too, but then you are limited on how much time you have there before sunset. When we went, there was not one parking space available in the Logan Pass Visitor Center parking lot by 8:30 a.m. The West Glacier KOA is a great place to stay! However, I see that they are already booking for 2021! It's possible they are already booked full for this year. We had one very peaceful day in Glacier, away from the crowds at the Fish Creek picnic area. Very few people there, very quiet. Did a little fishing and a long hike along the shore of Lake MacDonald. Beautiful. Whitewater rafting was one of our favorite activities in Glacier. Did that through Glacier Guides/Montana Rafting. Very fun!
