RE: Towing truck camper (expecting first experience today)

Glad OP resolved issue. We carry 25' jumper cables (surprised no ones mentioned) that reach from truck to camper which I've used once for that purpose. Our camper batteries are pain to access and remove, even if removed wouldn't fit in truck. Managed, setting 3 days at camp getting in/out of truck, newly installed electric truck steps killed trucks batteries. I now turn off steps when camped. Even if camper wouldn't start truck having cables most would offer to jump. Starting a truck amp load is huge, hundreds of amps. Batteries dying natural old age death just get weaker until they wont turn over engine, however every camper & truck battery Ive replaced was due to battery just failing without indication. As to towing we also had ours flat towed with front lifted, driveline removed. When calling need to stress overall weight and height so tow truck big enough sent out.

RE: Truck Camper Gap

Its not a problem. All trucks with slide in campers have some degree of space between top of side bed rails and campers side wings. Ours is about 1 1/2" gap. Camper is designed to be supported by its floor, not the side wings. Like wise truck bed is designed to support weight by its floor, not the side rails.

RE: ATTN Stable Lift Owners

I know very little about stable lift, but my stock 01 f250 is 35" to bed. So it wouldnt take all that much I would think to get into your truck. Just stacking, be safe, place so camper doesnt want to move. If seller has air deflating truck would give you a couple of inches to load. Just piping in

RE: Seeking Airbag Advice for Lifted F150/TC650

Only add a leaf style that's bolted (replacing center pin) to existing bottom of spring pack, under u-bolt plate, would work with air bag mount. May add additional lift increasing distance between top of pack & frame, space air bag uses. Check factory u bolts 'may' not be long enough, supplied bail u-bolts for lower air bag mount 'may' not be long enough. Skyjacker rear blocks set on top of factory blocks. Tying air bags together would amplify any lean and roll, air from loaded side pushed into unloaded side. Wonder if over the top helpers leafs (rated more #) would be enough- sure would be less work

RE: Camper looks like its not level

I gather since you mentioned no rear sway bar that your truck doesn't have camper package- which I assume also doesn't have the upper overload springs?

RE: Camper looks like its not level

Our 01 ford long bed is 20" from floor to top of bed rail at the front, 20 1/2" toward the tail gate.

RE: What did you do to your Camper Today?

Very nice :). What made you decide to keep the umbilical cables as attached cables vs adding plugs on the camper, allow for the cable to be completely removed and stored when not in use? Mostly expense plus finding a place to store (and the time involved :) Though I could justify changing out the shore cord

RE: What did you do to your Camper Today?

Added umbilical cord caps, made hangers so cords hang vertically https://photos.smugmug.com/AnEv942/ACinvert/i-7SMsxjn/0/9e18c49e/O/cordprotk10.jpg width=640 height=480 Recently had issue with corrosion again on auxiliary umbilical cord. (2nd umbilical cord- back up camera, refer control & aux. charge line, AC cord to run refer on trucks inverter) Though usually bungied up under camper they are exposed to the air can and do corrode. After cleaning I looked at how to avoid this I stumbled on cord caps, I was unaware these could be had. https://photos.smugmug.com/AnEv942/ACinvert/i-txVnRsp/0/d4ce6a6d/O/cordprotk6.jpg width=640 height=415 Issue though if cord is simply hung caps can fill with water and corrosion will be worse so cords need to hang vertically with cap up. I simply bent up some scrap 2" aluminum flat bar, Drilled hole cut slot to capture cords. https://photos.smugmug.com/AnEv942/ACinvert/i-Rpcf8cx/0/eda13514/O/cord.gif width=640 height=480 Drilled for mounting and bent the tips up a bit. https://photos.smugmug.com/AnEv942/ACinvert/i-63tGzM2/0/e7f0cf9a/O/cordprotk7.jpg width=640 As umbilcal cords are stiff had to mount hangers at angle. Bedded in caulk and screwed to wall. https://photos.smugmug.com/AnEv942/ACinvert/i-bPzxtVg/0/da2f77c8/O/cordprotk8.jpg width=640 height=480 Caps should minimize future corrosion, hung against camper wall so wont need to stop when loading/unloading to reposition cords, easy retrieval to plug in once camper loaded. https://photos.smugmug.com/AnEv942/ACinvert/i-x72xmJs/0/b08d9491/O/cordprotk5.jpg Likely other brands-just what I used

RE: Exterior turn/brake lights not working

...I was cleaning the 7 pin connector on the trailer side (with power on)... Per owners manual there is a fuse panel for exterior lights page 29 of the pdf file https://www.lancecamper.com/docs/2000%20Owners%20Manual.pdf

RE: Turn light not working - all others are

The trucks lights are on a different circuits than the trucks trailer plug. Meaning trucks lights functioning is not indication of trailer light plug functioning (or vise versa).

RE: Turn light not working - all others are

I assume OP '1 wire' was referring to campers umbilical cord that plugs into truck. Though brake working not sure but also assume truck issue as wire in camper (if using single 2 filament bulb) both signal and brake are on same wire. Unlikely as tail and brake work- remote possibility is bad taillight ground.

RE: Northern Lite Shore Power Box

Foam board would work- older thread where Pjay9 back in 09 insulated https://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/22291950.cfm I used mostly foil bubble wrap on all the tin and plastic boxes, double sided carpet tape to place then sealed with duct and aluminum tape. Our cord box I covered inside of box 1 layer and 2 layers inside of camper side.

RE: Cabover on an SUV

Well typing in wildlandcampervan also found a few posts, then noted on a video a tik-toc account. A few posts on his build (though no details/bits and pieces) but mostly unrelated random stuff. Point is on one videos mentioned he had tried to CA. register as camper and found indeed it didn't pass/qualify. He had to dismantle and start over following rebuild to regulations. One mans dream...hard to appreciate the dream but easy to appreciate his pursuit of it. Anyway did find couple more pics from the rear. Spotted driving downtown SLO, at a traffic light. https://i.imgur.com/PY9Q9be.jpg Apparently running lights aren't working... https://i.imgur.com/0X0bLFL.jpg 'pics by Henry'

Cabover on an SUV

Seen this parked out front of local store for a few weeks, Had to stop and take some pics. No details, virtually permanent so I guess this would be a class C but interesting. https://i.imgur.com/Uola3P7.jpg https://i.imgur.com/8XjNWsR.jpg

RE: Lance 2001 920 truck camper

Generic 01 lance diagram https://i.imgur.com/UUVG2Kf.jpg width=800 Likely not too helpful, doesnt show wire routing but shows daisy chain wiring mentioned, Physical routing on ours, not a lance, but cross over left to right in water tank box. On ours there's an AC junction box inside water tank box and also in one of the seat boxes, just pointing out there may be connections at other than receptacles.
