RE: stand alone antenna booster

Winegard Sensar Pro. Adjustable amp, scan peak signal meter. Made a big difference.

RE: Did you get your free DISH voice remote?

You have to press the mic button to talk to it. I wouldn’t call using a voice remote lazy. ALL remotes promote laziness. I remember dad sitting in his Lazy Boy telling one of us to change the channel. I haven’t used it long enough to form an opinion.

Did you get your free DISH voice remote?

Last time I called DISH to change locals they said I qualified for a voice remote no charge. Just letting everyone know.

RE: Florida RV Parks with a 24ft Hybrid

You have a shorty. I can’t imagine it not fitting in anywhere. Florida State Parks are reserved via Reserveamerica which lists the equipment length for every site.

RE: Fresh water tank collapse-week supports.

Weak. Shoddy.

RE: Signal strength for phone meter

I use a Weboost RV cell amp. I used to mess with signal strength but what really is the proof is a speed test. There are several. We have Verizon phones and an OTR mobile hotspot on the ATT network. I run a speed test with and without the Weboost and then compare Verizon or ATT for speed to decide what to use for streaming content.

RE: Class A electrical system setup - no dealer guidance

The only way to know if your batteries are good is to check the specific gravity with a hydrometer OR do a load test with a load box so you know the amp draw. Charge them up and measure each battery. If they have been dry a few times they might be shot. They might be equalized to repair them.

RE: Honda cr-v electrical problem

Using my great and unmatched wisdom, I would put an amp meter on the battery, measure the draw then start unplugging fuses one at a time.

RE: Window Haze

It’s a common problem. I had mine fixed at Suncoast in Hudson Fl. It’s about $300 a window and they have done thousands. No leaks. The windows have to come out. They have free hookups outside their factory.

RE: Need help understanding Truck Capabilities

The truck is overloaded as soon as you put the camper in. Add yourselves, food, water and your stuff and you are overloaded. I’ll let you in on a secret that many others know. If you want to carry a truck camper, you need to have some excess capacity. At minimum a 3/4 ton and better get a 3500.

RE: Electrical issue

Check the breakers on the inverter. Check the GFI on that side.

RE: Vapor lock 1990 E350 EFI 460 engine?

Or a weak fuel pump. Common problem with 460 s. Once the psi drops below spec the ECM goes wacky and it backfires, pops, etc. If you turn the key off a few seconds then back on it resets until the next time. What was your fuel level? The fuller the tank the cooler the pump is.

RE: Replacement Fridge or New Cooling Unit

You know you can get a compressor based replacement unit now.

RE: Norcold 1200

When my1200 died I looked at resi fridges. I would have to take a windshield or window out. I heard about Amish made replacement units and went that route. It took about 4 hours to do it. It works better than the OEM unit by five degrees. No trimming required. They now make a compressor version that gets even colder.

RE: Dash AC blows out of the defrost vents

I’m just glad they don’t run the wipers off vacuum anymore. I remember when they would quit when you accelerated.

RE: Dash AC blows out of the defrost vents

It’s a common problem as there is very little vacuum at WOT like when going uphill. Many have installed a small vacuum pump that runs when vacuum gets low.

RE: Splendid Washer/Dryer

Yes load size is key. I would also add that there is a trap on the lower right front behind the bottom trim. that should be cleaned annually. It’s not a lint filter. More like a coin trap. I never checked mine in ten years and this summer the unit started acting up; not rinsing right. Read the manual and cleaned it and there was three quarters, a few nickels and some pennies.

RE: Splendid Washer/Dryer

RE: RV toilet with a self contained holding tank

Are you sure it’s not a monomatic recirculating toilet? Not uncommon back then. I was never a fan. So I agree starting over may be the best move. 5-8 gallons is plenty for a week or more.
