RE: Question about removing black tank

I have seen a few rental RVs set up this way at private CGs. Yes, they just run a sloping plastic pipe, until reaching the sewer. Jerry That's exactly what I hope to do. Thanks for the response. Just keep the pipe slope at 1/4" per foot. Too flat or too steep and you will have problems with drainage.

RE: Cable slide chatter and noise

Likely NOT the cable system. The rollers or pads that carry the slide may be dirty or mis-aligned. I would remove the "gasket" to which you referred and do an inspection on everything under the slide.

RE: double towing

I just don't feel the need to go to places where I can't double tow or carry.

RE: Thanksgiving, 1970 49 years ago....

I spent Thanksgiving 1970 just south of Da Nang. Didn't even realize it was a holiday except for the better chow. Enjoy you Thanksgiving this year.

RE: I think they’re doing it wrong

There is a MAXIMUM rating for intelligence, but there seems to be no MINIMUM.

RE: Has anyone stopped for the night at Avon CO

CDOT rest area just west at Edwards. While technically there is no overnight parking I have never been run out for getting a few hours sleep. For heaven's sake, that is what they are for.

RE: Campground Theft

Any possibility that it just blew off? A friend of mine had one leave his Silverado going down the interstate.

RE: Harrison AR Recommendations?

You would love Shady Oaks. Just a few miles south of town, very shady and quiet. We have camped there several times in our 5th wheel.

RE: Workhorse 8.1 GM exhaust gasket replacement

Have you tried one of the larger GM dealerships?

RE: wet bolt on suspension

I.ve been able to get the grease flowing, by applying heat to the old caked grease inside the bolt. It doesn't take much heat but it has always worked for me. I typically remove the zerk and use a properly sized drill bit to remove the old grease. I realize this doesn't remove the grease in the "cross" hole but I have never had one to not take grease after the drill bit trick.

RE: Have I been doing it wrong all these years?

We use $100,000+ RVs weighing many thousands of pounds and we worry about fuel mileage? My guess is that most RVers don't drive over 10 to 20K miles per year. In the overall scheme of things 1 or 2 MPG isn't that big of a deal.

RE: Revenge is mine, says the buffalo herd...

DW and I were in Yellowstone 2 years ago on our Goldwing motorcycle. Some dumba$$ in a rental RV stopped in the road, right in the middle of a rutting herd of bison, to get the family out to take a "memorable photo" from their trip. We got stopped in the traffic jam and the herd started to get agitated all around us and the others. We looked for any way out but the cars and RV's had us blocked. Luckily a Ranger got through with their noise maker to disperse the herd and get the traffic moving. When we passed the RV the Ranger was giving them some sort of "award" for stupidity. Hope it cost them a bundle of money. It is hard to appreciate how exposed you feel in that situation. PLEASE DO NOT STOP TO DO STUPID THINGS.

RE: Rough Ride

BALANCE YOUR TIRES! Tire shops do not usually balance trailer tires BUT if you don't it can shake the camper to bits. Running G rated tires at less than maximum pressure will not likely cause shaking as long as the pressure used is adequate for the trailer weight. Goodyear publishes an inflation chart for their G614's for that very purpose. On mine I run 90 psi.

RE: Level on sloped campsites. How? Unique to 5er's

Are you starting with the jacks fully retracted and drop the inner legs to the ground? If you do that you should be able to raise the front of the camper at least 2 feet. If you don't drop the inner legs you will never have enough stroke.

RE: Carrying a scooter (motorbike, not mobility scooter) ?

I haul a Yamaha WR250R on an aluminum rack in a FRONT receiver hitch on my Silverado. I wanted it where I could keep an eye on it and it won't fit in the bed with my 5th wheel.

RE: Cricket golf carts

My Brother is a full timer that also works for a church group doing metal work such as handicap rails, etc. He has used a Cricket for 3 or 4 years now to haul tools etc. to the work site. No issues and his is equipt to haul 4 people. He bought it for the power and so he can load it through the side door of his enclosed work trailer.
