RE: Let's talk air bags...

I drive the same roads near San Jose. 2011 F350 4x4 dually CC lb with a 4600 pound (loaded) Lance 1055. I have upper and lower stable loads and Airbags (for when I tow the horse trailer). Not towing I may put 10psi in the airbags

RE: Trailer connect

Wire it like Lance does. Skip the trucks harness wiring system. Run an 8 gauge wire from the battery through a 50amp relay to the power pin of a dedicated camper bed plug. Truck on camper charges.

RE: A new adventure for me.

4x4 gets you going, chains or winter tires (snowflake rated) give you braking and steering

RE: New polar cub Mach 8 AC and the Honda eu2000i question

88 pounds versus 131 pounds honda handi eu3000i versus honda eu3000i. Honda 2200 is 47 pounds. Than single Honda 2200 is louder than 3000. I can only wonder how two 2200 running together will compare. well here is the math just plug in the DB number of the 2200i https://personalpages.manchester.ac.uk/staff/richard.baker/BasicAcoustics/5_addition_of_sound_intensities.html

RE: New polar cub Mach 8 AC and the Honda eu2000i question

I have the original Polar Cub 9200 and a Honda 2000 The key is letting the fan spin up to speed before turning the Cool settings on. Once the compressor kicks in I can run it on eco mode for 6 hours no problem

Crabs, lice, bed bugs, body fluid stains on the mattress, party substance residue, Nope not in my camper

RE: LED Lights

my only advice is to look for LED's that are rated at 12V-24V dc. Some times your built in charger can push 14.8V, and if you have temp corrected solar you can push up into the 15V range. LED's marked for 12V use will overheat when you start pushing them towards 13V This

RE: Never saw this before!

Traveling cross country with my horse we have to stop at all agricultural inspection stations, all stations with vehicles hauling livestock signs, and any station that flashes us the red light to pull in. They don't care about the truck, they just want to see our Horses Coggins and Health certificate ( although we do have to drive across the scales. I'm registered for 15,000 and I scale at 13,000 so I don't worry about it.

RE: What did you do to your truck today?

Pulled off the outer dually wheels. Taking them to the shop for new rubber before we take off on a 5000 mile trip in two weeks (already put new tires on the inners) edit: 4 new tires in place for the trip https://tinyurl.com/wkyzmfj width=600

Dave has his own blog and is on some facebook TC Groups. He got tired of dealing with certain trolls on this board.

RE: Prepping for below freezing temps and snow.

Nov 3rd we will be driving the Truck and Lance cross country towing our horse in a trailer from near San Francisco to Lexington KY on I80 until Iowa then dropping down to Lexington. We will be traveling wet, the camper fully insulated and on below freezing days have the furnace on. Stops for the night in Salt Lake City, Ogallala NE, St Peters MO. We will spend a week at the Kentucky horse park competing then do the trip in reverse about 5000 miles total. After that Its snow camping time in the Sierras and Cascades Sounds like such an awesome trip. I was raised in Salt Lake City and just live about 200 miles south. we did it in 2019 and Ruth won the Intermediate 1 Freestyle championship If you are on Facebook here are the Photos from that trip https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.3108450592505263&type=3

RE: Extended warranty experiences

In all the purchases I have made since my first vehicle in 1975 I have never purchased an extended warranty. I have never regretted not doing so. Its a scam IMHO. I will not be buying one in the future either

RE: What did you do to your Camper Today?

Loaded up Ruth's Dressage equipment and my medical gear, loaded the fridge topped off the water and propane. Tomorrow we head out to the California Dressage Society and United States Dressage Federation Region 7 Championships at Murietta Equestrian Center near Sacramento. She is competing at Grand Prix and I am the Medic for the five day event.

RE: What did you do to your Camper Today?

Repaired the Trailer hitch (bolt failure from a hard hit at a bridge/ pavement transition). Installed new 1/2" Grade 8 bolts nuts and washers on an original Torklift Magnum Super hitch. My bad for not regularly checking on bolt torque. Now loading up gear and other stuff to head out to the Region 7 and CDS Dressage Championship on Tuesday out by Sacramento. My wife is one of the competitors and I was hired to be the onsite Medic

RE: Solar install question

I did the DIY/ Camper was pre wired Parts for 2 100 watt panels mounts wiring and controller was under $400. Time to install and have it up and running was under 3 hours with a buddy helping me get the panels up onto the roof.

RE: Battery Question

Like the others have said: It all depends on your need I have minmal needs so 2 group 31 AGMs (Lifeline) and 200 watts of solar keeps me going. I don't watch TV or use the Microwave. In the summer if its really hot I will use my Honda 2000 to run the AC. All my lights are LED and at most I run a 200 watt inverter to charge my Laptop. The main camper drain is the fridge circuit board on the Fridge and in winter the furnace and when its really hot or cold out I cover the doors windows and vents with reflectix and foam and have fiberglass batts behind the external hatches to maximize my thermal insulation from the outside environment. I camp year round in all sorts of temps from near zero F up to above 115F.
