RE: GM HD Trucks Many with AWD instead of 4WD

Yes, the electronic Autotrac is an option on LT, and standard on the LTZ and High Country. The WT and standard LT do not get the Auto button.

RE: Volkswagen completes first non Tesla cross US charge network

I was excited to see this! I could now take my Bolt on an exciting road trip to see my daughter at Kansas State if I go straight south to Dayton. However, I will probably just take one of my vehicles that I can go 5 hours between fill-ups, fuel at any exit, and take the shortest and fastest route.

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

...Companies like Rivian, Tesla, Nikola etc are finding lots of willing investors lately. GM and Ford are dragging their feet with no significant USA based EV ramp up programs in the next couple years. Foreign companies like Mazda, Subaru and Toyota are about the same. They all have projections for 5 to 10 years out but that pretty much leaves a near term vacuum that some of the new companies like Rivian and Tesla to fill. Interesting to watch all this evolve. All JMHO of course. I suggest that you improve your research. Maybe you have GM And Ford blocked in your feeds and google searches. Ford has an EV F150, and Mach E. GM has shown 13 EVS, including the GMC Hummer EV, Bolt EUV, and Cadillac's and Buick's. Some being produced in 2021! I believe that Rivian has plans for a SUV and Pickup. I would not call that broad product plans!

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

No, I am not as I said earlier. I am just interested in calling out hypocrites and double standards of people buying cars because they are environmentally friendly and then turning around and celebrating a rolling coal rocket. I did not lease my Bolt EV believing it was environmentally friendly. I watch them roll coal off the freighter, roll coal with the dozer, and roll coal into the plant to generate electricity. I know it is not friendly. I leased my Bolt EV because it was a fantastic deal, the power company reimbursed me for a charger (actually power company customers), it is cheaper to operate, and fun to drive.

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

Still no news on why it exploded a couple of days ago... popularmechanics By Jennifer Leman,May 29, 2020 SpaceX's Starship Prototype Just Blew Up;0,0&resize=768:* Hmm. Might be some confusion here. The explosion was the starship test vehicle as I recall. Nothing to do with the commercial space program and the dragon capsule. Which had nothing to do with a Semi or tow vehicle other than Elon is part of it. So his test rocket explosion did exist.

RE: Cybertruck may have 1 million-mile battery

Shiner - you mean you don't want me talking about my Bolt EV or my order on my GMC Hummer? Telling you how great my Ultium battery will be! How the design allows them to be stacked or alongside each other. How they will scale from 50 to over 200 kWh. How the electronic components will be embedded within the modules. And yes, I haven't shared anything about what I am driving. It does pull 15k pounds, has over 3 tons payload, and does a great job.

RE: 1/2 ton sticker shock

I found a Silverado 1500 Crew Cab 4wd High Country with the 3.0 diesel for msrp of $66k. Not sure what else could be added for $7k. Could get a 2500 Silverado CC LTZ for same price with 6.6 diesel. And yes, truck sales and inventory differ by state at this time.

RE: Opinion: best value HD truck under 20k?

...People tout the value of a van. A base model gas 2wd pickup goes for the same $ maybe less. That’s what the “value” should be compared to. Then decide whether you want a pickup bed or 4 rows of seats. I sure cannot find a 2019 2wd gas HD 1 ton pickup with 15k miles for under $23k. And yes, they will only tow 10k pounds. And yes, they are not as quiet and upscale as a $65k truck. However, you cannot legally take a 400 mile beer run with 15 people in a pickup.

RE: Opinion: best value HD truck under 20k?

Is a VAN a TRUCK??? Why yes I do, thanks for asking. The OP did not specify pickup truck, class 4 truck, class 7 truck, etc. His statement was HD truck. The only thing that I have not used a VAN truck for was towing gooseneck/fifth wheel and loading gravel by payloader. I had pallets of heavy items loaded by forklift. It tows 9600 lbs, has over 3k payload, and can be purchased for $20k with 50k miles and 3 years old. So if OP was looking for the best value to tow 8k pounds with a bumper pull, able to carry 3k pounds of cargo that is not loaded by frontloader, and still have warranty, I would suggest a 3500 Express Van with 6.0.

RE: GM trucks outsell Ford first quarter !

I'm in the auto industry. I've provided information I've learned from outside of my employer. I also have several friends that are business owners. I've floated trial balloon of 50% small business closure in MI, and nobody has disagreed, and I've had a couple of people suggest I'm being overly optimistic. GM and FCA have reduced salaried employees pay up to 25%. Ford as of yet hasn't done any salaried reduction program. OEM's are running on thin profit margins. Chop the top line and it will get very ugly on the bottom line very quickly. Lose just 10% in revenue, your 5-10% margins quickly disappear. Take away 25% of an employees gross pay, and watch how fast they don't lease another 50, or 60, or 60,000 vehicle. You are right, this is different from '08, IMO, this is much much worse, and my opinion has nothing to do with politics. In fact, I've warned my wife that by the end of summer, I may be done working. Luckily, near the end of my career anyway, and we have put in place our long term planning. I agree that this may be as bad or worse on the state than 08-09, depending on duration, but I feel that the auto companies are better prepared, and that was my point. I am not sure that the state economy is prepared. Additionally, it appears that the government is providing more help to more this time. I don't want to start a political discussion, so saying nothing more. I wish you well through this year. Hopefully the US can recover without serious impact.

RE: Cybertruck can have ladder rack after all...

Amazing how the Tesla fans can make a post about a ladder rack for a truck that does not exist run for 4 pages. And they fail to accept that GM is also going to build a pickup. And they may have missed that Honda is going to source their EV from GM ultima battery.

RE: Reverse lights on tow mirrors

“Task Lighting - Press repeatedly to cycle through the out- side mirror lamp options: both lamps on, left lamp on, right lamp on, both lamps off. These are forward lamps, and work great after putting in Park. The backward mirror lamp turns on with the cargo lamp switch, when vehicle is in reverse. This also illuminates a hitch lamp.

RE: GM trucks outsell Ford first quarter !

Forget about how got the most sales in the 1st quarter, industry analysts are forecasting 2020 to be a 10.5M year. Last time that happened GM and Chrysler went bankrupt. This will be devastating. The last time was also extremely different circumstances. I think you know Philh that they all went to their credit tools to have cash, GM and FCA are deferring salary to all salaried workers, some new and enhancement programs (cash sucking activities) have been delayed, and competition is not producing vehicles either. I am ashamed that you correlated 10.5 to auto bankruptcy. We need to have compassion for all companies and workers. Regardless of your political beliefs, there are many in this nation that will need help or not be able to help others. I have a daughter who is a special education teacher, and she is delivering food to those that will not eat without assistance. I have a daughter in nursing school that has worked 12 hour days in the Covid ICU at one of the "Detroit" hospitals. Let's all try to have compassion for each other, regardless of whether they prefer gasoline or diesel, or which manufacturer.

RE: All this time on our hands

And some of us continue to put in 50 - 60 hours running our operational departments from make-shift offices. Then we do book-reading videos for the school face book page, so that it is not just the same teacher(s) doing the readings. My daughter took the books and read a book to each of the following: goats, alpacas, chickens, pigs, lambs, cows, geese, and ducks.

RE: GM trucks outsell Ford first quarter !

Yeah same around here GM was basically giving the trucks away up to 12k off and 0% for 84 months... Your bias is showing. GM was not doing 12k cash and 0% for 84. Additionally, you had to have near perfect credit to score the 84. As for the other discussions regarding sales being higher in May for Ford F-series, it is proven that vehicles sales are seasonal based on factors. The auto companies all know and understand, and then we get politics and world impacts that disrupt.

RE: BEV battery technologies changing fast

Well, it would be nice to see. But they have some catching up to do. The Cadillac presentation was just pushed back, the disappointing Bolt makeover was a definite set back and Bolt sales are way off from expectations and they are having difficulty producing even 20,000 EV’s a year. I do think they are getting serious though. Good to see. Just not sure we’ll see lots of production in the next 3 or 4 years. Jmho. Thank you for your opinion. I would like to stress to others that facts are available that make opinions inaccurate. Yes, GM has now delayed the Cadillac because of travel restrictions and public gathering restrictions related to the Covid19. In regards to Bolt, did GM ever provide guidance on the number they wanted to sell? Yes, sales were down over prior year. Maybe they were not profitable to sell. Do you have production numbers? Are you sure that they had trouble producing 20,000? Data is available. I always love your opinions. They are never biased, and I often wonder if Elon has you on the payroll and you are assigned to RV.NET.
