RE: Temp. go before freezing pipes on class a

32 degrees F. It all depends on how long the RV will remain at the temperature. 28 degrees overnight should be OK. 26 degrees overnight I'd start to worry. That my $.03.

RE: Christmas vacation

I like the Colonial Williamsburg idea.

RE: 2021 trips already being canceled.

Being sick away from home gives me pause for 2021 planning; usually Florida in April to start the vacation year.

RE: MaxxAir II Vent Covers - Installation

If it wasn't for the fact that there will be holes in the roof screwing down into the roof makes a better installation IMHO. I have installed two sets of covers using the recommended brackets into the opening wall and there can be issues: the screws into the wall can come loose from the vibration of the overhung load of the cover and the bolts/nuts can come loose for the same reason. Those nuts/bolts should be checked on occasion. I've had them loosen. and the overhung load isn't the greatest idea for an RV that bounces around like ours does.

RE: Etiquette and Courtesy for Tourists & Visitors

one more thing about the Amish. When I see all the TV ads to buy stuff I often think about the Amish who don't worry about whether they have the latest and greatest electronic gadget, cell phones, video games, largest and best TV, newest car, etc. Having trouble limiting your childs electronic time? What if they didn't have ANY such devices. I know, in our world, that's far fetched but maybe.......

and don't ever take a photo showing an Amish person's face because `The Amish hold humility as a highly-cherished value and view pride as a threat to community harmony. Because items such as personal photographs can accentuate individuality and call attention to one's self, they are prohibited from the home. Moreover, the Amish believe that photographs in which they can be recognized violate the Biblical commandment, "Thou shalt not make unto thyself a graven image." They want to be remembered by the lives they lived and the examples they left, not by physical appearance.'

RE: Regular or premium

I have the 6.0L engine and use the cheapest gas; no ping.

RE: CREE Has Been Purchased New LEDs In The Works

There is a newer Cree bulb that is supposed to be better than the old led's for enclosed spaces such as ceiling fixtures. Maybe they use the newer silicon-carbide technology.

RE: Checked out a Vibe 26RK, Mallard M25,Grand Design Imagine

Others will disagree but I have a `thing' against rear kitchens. Our TT bounces around so much in the rear that the wear and tear of rear kitchen appliances would be detrimental.

RE: Front hitch

We had ours installed by a qualified welding shop and keep it low to carry a bike rack.

RE: camping sites for a 42' fifth wheel?

The question is why did you buy a 42 foot fiver? The answer is because we could. Wonder how many others have such a large size fiver?

RE: RV Cover Recommendations

This came up some months/years back and I suggested possibly the worst idea in recorded history. (I just heard that phrase recently) It is to buy two Sunshield tarps or maybe only one. Put them both on the top of the RV. The lower one would have the dark side facing up. The top one would have the dark side facing down (white side up). The thinking is that the lighter top side would reflect the sun and the layers between the tarps and between the tarp and roof would act as insulation. Open the Maxxair vents and the end windows for air movement. The tarps come in various sizes so get one that hangs down from the roof enough to cover the decals. We hold ours down with six boat fenders half filled with sand.

RE: Cover or not to cover

For previous posts search this forum for `RV Cover' and read on and on. In summary, some do and some don't. We use a sunshield tarp as posted previously many times.

RE: Tax Right off

So if you are in a 10% tax bracket if you write off $100 in interest you cut $10 off your taxes.

RE: Best Built 5er?

I'm thinking that the manufacturer who made the very best RV is no longer in business. IMHO there are more RVers who bought their rig for the best price than the best design & construction. Horizons RV seems to make the `best'. I wonder how they are doing?

RE: Any full timers use a roomba style vac?

Roomba's are an example of the classic create a need for a product and advertise the H___ out of it. It's a gimmick and an expensive one. There is nothing in the brains of a Roomba that forces it to cover every square foot of the floor. If it does it is just dumb luck. If a floor is completely clear of obstacles given enough time it will eventually cover the entire surface (note free of obstacles such as chair legs and given enough time). A decent battery powered stick broom will work much more efficiently ie clean the floor in less time. BTW I used to sell them while working at Brookstone.

RE: What's the longest/heaviest you would tow with a 1/2 ton?

5000 lbs. length doesn't matter.

RE: Grand Canyon

X2 on staying in Williams. I suggest the Grand Canyon Railway RV Park where one can pick up the train for the 2 1/4 hours ride each way. The RR only stays about 1 1/2 hours at the South Rim but that is long enough for a short hike and lots of photos. BTW the train got held up by banditos on the way back.

RE: Trying to figure out best 5th wheel? Advice appreciated

The title states `best fifth-wheel' and if that's the quest I would suggest New Horizons RV at
