RE: Bought a second truck.

It's nice to have a 66 engine instead of one of the 76 messes they built! That low of mpg might be a blown power valve in the carb. Craig I'd take a 1966 390 over a 1976 360 every day of the week. It does need the carb gone thru and new valve stem seals. Other than that it seems run pretty good. I was a mechanic for Ford/Lincoln/Mercury during this period. If you break the insulation off a spark plug and weld an air fitting to the metal. Or you can but this air tool Add air from your compressor and you do not have to remove the heads. Compress the spring, remove retainers & spring, replace seal and reverse.

RE: Replacing Elec brakes

Look at the wires where they come out of the axles. It's a wear point the insulation on the wires get chaffed and cause a lot of issues. If that's the issue run a wire outside upper part of the axle, secure with zip ties.

RE: Coach Net, great service !!

:) Very interesting that y"all have to go on another roadside assistance service and crow about your service with another company.... Looks a lot like spamming. Have y'all tried posting your good news on CN's form? :) By the way if GS had good service you wouldn't see posts about how bad they are. Pastor needs to go work on next weeks sermon. GS assitance

RE: Fuel consumption too high?

Ford Ranger 2019 = not enough truck unless it's a small pop-up. Ford Ranger 2019 = not enough HP or torque. Ford Ranger 2019 = 270 horsepower @ 5,500 rpm Ford Ranger 2019 = Torque 310 lb.-ft. @ 3,000 rpm Towing 75 = poor mileage.

RE: Coach Net has wrong name on my account

8 years with zero issues, 3 flats and one major tow. Always prompt and courteous, I have their app on my phone, push send and they answer, they have account number and GPS if on in the phone.

RE: Coach Net, great service !!

Exactly how they have been for me. Hard to find anyone that has bad to say about CN, not so about Good Sams roadside. I have posted before about my experience that I have no doubt GS would have said so sorry. That was $900+ tow they easily could have said sorry you forgot that 5W on your policy. (traded and forgot to change to the new 5W)

RE: Sailun tires

Copied from another thread... Sailun Tire Americas, Inc. (Sailun) is recalling certain Sailun, RoadX, Blacklion, Blackhawk, and Ironhead brand tires, sizes ST235/80R16 and ST235/85R16 with DOT codes 2020 through 4120. Due to a manufacturing issue, the tires may experience a belt separation. Belt separation could lead to loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. Sailun will replace the tires, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed in December 2021. Owners may contact Sailun customer service at 1-844-281-9696. Now you made me go look ....... St 235/85/16 about a year old. Yep got 3 in that range, no answer at the number listed.

RE: 5th wheel purchase advise - Solitude or Jayco

North Point new is 153k msrp Solitudes are 125-130k new I am just wondering if any of my pros and cons are significant or insignificant when it comes to living on these 5th wheels. MC First for me is the floor plan, how does it fit with your style of living? Floor space is also a consideration, I removed a couch and put in a second set of theater seats. I have no need for the fold out bed and we really don't want over night guests. My son has spent one night with us, on the floor. Looking at the ones you listed if I liked the North point floor plan I would grab it. What more major items can you add, 3 A/C's, solar, & the gen set & disc brakes. Only thing I can think of is a washer dryer. (I have a combo unit and love it for the two of us)

RE: 5th wheel purchase advise - Solitude or Jayco

Dual panes a must, and my advice is that the more expensive one will almost assuredly be better quality. I don't think Jayco is known for quality. North Points their top of the line. This is the one I would jump on, someone else to the "new" hit and it has everything including the gen set, solar, disc brakes. Here your comparing new to used so what was the North Point new? Over 100K. BTW I put disc brakes on mine last year and after having them I wouldn't be with out. The disc brake kits $2,000 plus $1000 install, I saved the $1000 and did my own.

RE: For those with no bathroom access during travel mode.

Access to fridge, bathroom, bedroom, Theater seat and TV; closed. We removed the couch and put in a second theater seat. https://i.imgur.com/7O7TPZal.jpg

RE: Tire Failure

I am an Anti-Chinese tire person. How much evidence does one need to understand the problem? First time ever with ST's on my 5W and not LT's. This has a rating equal to the Goodyear. Every rancher in the area is running these and ranchers are not easy on their equipment they spend more time off road than on so the tires get a workout way more than the average RV.

RE: Suggestion needed ASAP

any tire over 5 years old need replaced, they dry rot and you do not want then blowing. That will cause damage to the trailer and could damage plumbing, electrical, and the body. Changing a tires changing a tire nothing different, pull the wheels, take them to a tire shop get some tires and go back and put them on. Brakes are likely rusted and would need some work, what's the guy moving using to move it? An older 36ft will be heavy.

RE: electric fireplace

Nearly all the electric fireplaces are made in Africa or China nowadays. There is no parts or support network for them. If the glass is flat, you could have a glass shop cut you a new one. If it's curved, you can either cut a piece of Lexan and bend it or just replace the fireplace. Rob Just over $200 you get an entire new, you will need the size so it fits. I got the same size and still had to open the cabinet maybe 1/2 inch. Bezel covered nicely.

RE: Doghouse

About all that's done without pulling the doghouse is routine maintenance. Even from under mine work, learn to pull the doghouse. After it's done a couple times you won't be afraid of pulling it. Watch the bolts holding it down they MAYBE different lengths so need back in the same holes, only if different. Lining it backups really not an issue, a Phillips screw driver will help aligning it two's better one on each side. Get a bolt started and more to the other side, same routine. With two started the rest should drop in. (Prior Ford/Lincoln/Mercury mechanic - yes it's been awhile but mechanics don't change)

You should have gutters on both sides and each should have an end that looks something like this. https://i.imgur.com/PO2CYKVl.jpg
