RE: Homeless Cat -- Now Spotacus' Legacy

Due to urinary problems my cat can have only wet food with no grains or vegies. He absolutely loves most varieties of Fancy Feast Classic Pate. Most are all meat and meat-byproducts with a little thickening agent. Nutritionally complete. He is an indoor cat and has been thriving on it for eight years.

RE: Spearfish, SD

Quote Finally Time For a campground right next to Little Big Horn National Monument, I stayed at 7th Ranch RV Park Pleasant owners, very clean, quiet park with full hookups and good sized spaces. Quote I was going to ask about this place. You said it was nice. We only plan to spend one night there. Which do you fell is better: see the Monument park then check in or spend the night and see the Monument the next day? We only have a couple hour drive that day. thanks all I would check in, then see some of the other things in the area. I would wait to go to the monument early the next morning to beat the crowds and heat. I was surprised how much there was to see at the battlefield. I think I could have spent all day there.

RE: Roadside assist

Roadside Assist is not just for breakdowns or tires. Two years ago I got stuck in the mud on the Navajo Reservation. Closest big rig towing service Coachnet could find was more than two hours away. Two very nice men with a gigantic tow truck arrived disconnected my car (the tow bar release was jammed), hooked up the coach and pulled it out of the mud, reconnected the car, had me sign a form and went on their way. They did confirm they were the only big tow company within three hours of my location and said they had a lot of experience pulling rigs out of Arizona's red mud. I have a hunch that tow service would have cost me a lot more than the $125 annual membership I paid for Coachnet.

RE: Do your dogs/cats watch TV

My cat watches wildlife programs; especially those with dogs/wolves, and cats, big & small. He sat next to me on the sofa and watched all of the PBS "Urban Racoon." My dad's cat always watched Roller Derby with him. The only program my dog ever watched was one showing a Labrador Retriever training in a field.

RE: Is CA 120 Lee Vining to Manteca Do-able?

Don't go on Highway 49 between 140 and 120. I did that with my then 21 foot trailer. For about half the distance I think I could read the trailer's license plate on some of those tight turns. I had to go as slow as 15 mph to stay in my lane one some of the blind curves. Also, straight down to the bottom of a canyon, no guard rails of course. Never again.

RE: Campground Theft

I was in a park with 50 amp only with my trailer. I guess a thief thought it was easier to steal my 30 to 50 adapter, rather than borrow one of the many the campground had available to loan out.

RE: mystery switch

The push button (green) is for over-the-air antenna use; it boosts the signal strength. Push it off (no light) for cable reception. If you are trying to view the TV via a cable hook-up and get no signal or a snowy picture, check to be sure this switch is off.

RE: Food additive

My German Shepherds decided to help me find the poop by eating two small foil wrapped fruitcakes, foil and all. I couldn't figure out what happened to the fruitcakes I left on the dining room table until I went out with my pooper-scooper. Those twinkling bits of shinny foil sure made finding the pick up easier.

RE: 101 highway from olympia to north entrance of park

This is getting me confused and I live in the Olympia area. To answer Jenanne's question. There is no problem going up the east side of Olympic Nat's Park on Highway 101 in a 40 footer with a tow. It is mainly two lanes. It can be a little narrow at times, and there are a couple of narrow bridges, but there is nothing that is unsafe. If you are coming from the south on I-5 take exit 104 (Highway 101 north) and stay on it all the way the the park's northern entrance at Port Angeles.

RE: Tucson to Olympia, WA

Thanks for the suggestions. To answer azdrheat's question; unfortunately I have to go through CA going to Tucson. A very close friend's husband was diagnosed with brain cancer. I'll be making what will probably be the last visit to see them in Sacramento. Then I'll be going on to Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Tucson.

Tucson to Olympia, WA

I'll be going to Olympia from Tucson the end of March. I would like to stay out of California because of its high fuel prices and slow speed limit towing. A little sightseeing is ok, but I'm mainly interested in getting home. Any suggestions?

RE: cat toys

In 2018 the Pew Institute did research into what type of RV cats preferred. When placed in a controlled environment 96.38% of cats preferred the Class A coaches. Researchers were able to determine this because the cats immediately jumped up on the dash in the sunniest spot and made sure to sit and begin grooming in the exact location where they could block the drivers view. When trying to determine why the cats preferred a Class A the majority of test subjects turned their backs on the researchers and pretended they did not exist. Well except for one cat named Buttons. Researchers noted that when ignoring them, Buttons had discovered that with enough speed she could slide the length of the coach on the tile floor. Buttons did this until she banged in to the wall, upon which she ran off into the bedroom, jumped on the bed, began preening herself and acting like nothing happened. Researchers could not get any further cooperation from Buttons that day.
