Avoid HWY 17 WAWA to White River
For those peoples travelling through Northern Ontario, be for warned. The section of highway 17 (THC) is being blasted, repaved and culverts replaced; between Wawa (on the east) and White river (on the West). I drove my coach though an area that is gravel only (10 km) and it completely covered my coach with mud and dirt. Not to meantion the amount of stones bouncing off the coach. I slowed down as much as possible, but still made and incredible mess. Bst bet is to take highway 11 and go the Northern route.
If you don't mind travelling on gravel road then the 1 1/2 to 2 hour delay for the construction may change your mind.

There is no mention of allowing entry from Alaska.
There is this one paragraph mid way down the article which covers it.
These measures also apply to foreign nationals transiting to the U.S. through Canada from Alaska. However, entry into Canada from Alaska on the northern border is not limited to designated POEs. Additional measures might be imposed at time of entry by a border services officer (BSO).

I appreciate you posting the info but your link is for the US border station... staffed by US border agents. When you leave AK you drive right past this station without stopping.
The Canadian station is a different facility about 10 miles east of the US station. This is where you are stopped and inspected and granted permission.
I haven’t been able to find a Canadian phone number to contact the Canadian border agents... that is who I need to call.
Maybe one of our Canadian forum members can find the phone number?

I can only find the US Border Svc number. For the Canadian side I can only find their postal address. May I suggest you call the US Border svc # and see if they have a contact # for the Canadian side. Otherwise you may have to send them a letter ASAP.

As Alaska is your declared home I would think your 5th wheel in the lower 48 is non essential travel. Just my opinion as I understand the current Canadian rules. I would suggest you call the Canadian border crossing you plan on using and ask the "officials". I would also get their name , badge # and the date / time of the conversation as a reference should they say "come on down".

I was always under the impression that CA health was pretty good. Now I’m confused when JaxDad said:
The driver said that while he waiting in the emergency reception area a family of 6 came in showing obvious symptoms of being sick and were seeking testing, they were told it would be $200 per test, plus, plus, plus whatever else they could charge them.
So COVID tests aren’t included???

Flyboy, you are right; my old fingers don't work the way they use to; the troop withdrawal from Germany IS 12,000 instead of 112,000. And my husband of 38 years in the Air Force active duty and reserves informs me that the C141s are no longer primary (but still flying) and instead the newer C17s are primary.
Thanks for voting; your vote is unusual, as many Canadians don't feel that way. By the way, I just researched the Russian harrassment off of Alaska (my information originally came from a tv news show), and there were both Russian bombers and their jets buzzing (or fly-bys) Alaska, so we were both right.
ALL C 141`s ceased to fly in 2006 as they were replaced by the C-17 according to MY online research and USAF contact. The Russian aircraft are/were not "buzzing" / flybys of Alaska. They were/ are operating legally in International Airspace. PS...21 yrs as an RCAF pilot!
In regards to MY vote. Don`t lump all Canadians into the same category with a totally unsupported comment like ""many Canadians don`t feel that way"!
This "Tracking US Travellers" thread would not be necessary if all US folks followed our laws when transiting to/ from Alaska. There are always a few who will spoil it for everyone.

Yes and there was 3 US cars at Dutch Lake, Clearwater yesterday, 1 Cal,1 Washington, 1 Oregon so that a far stretch from going straight to Alaska and nothing done about it and a very busy swimming lake with likely 500 people there. Our town has been clean so far but that will likely end.
Yup. Not the most direct route. Perhaps a phone call to the local authorities !!!

From the Canadian entry points at Huntington and Osoyoos, BC it`s about a 33 hr drive to the CBS crossing at Beaver Creek, YT. Google maps fastest route is via Prince George, Watson Lake and Whitehorse. Just over 1700 miles.
Through Kingsgate it is about 33 hrs and just over 1800 miles. Routes up through Jasper , Grande Prairie then into BC.

BC is making it very clear that it is BC residents only in the provincial campgrounds. If a camper were to have non-BC plates, they could/will be refused.

You have singled out snowbirds, so I will take it personally. Your comment is so typical of the nonsense coming out of some folks mouths. Protectionism, US only...that idea may appeal...right up until it doesn't meet the countries needs, then it's all about 'now what'. Be ever so careful what you wish for..water, oil, foods..oh...airfields to park your aircraft and passengers in the event of another tragic event.
I can hear the voices now...'we don't need...'. Oh yeah...you do. By all means..stay out of ours...or be thankful we are good neighbors who are doing what is necessary too look after things. Soon enough, people will be able to cross the border and carry on with their lives. And people like you don't need to travel BC to get north...take the ferry.

I hope BC residents remember that when the forest fires start, and they need out of province help.
Two totally different unrelated subjects. Firefighters normally stay in their own camps near the fires. See it when driving....a bunch of tents in a field with porta potties and mess tents.

What I am wondering about is all of our Canadian friends.
As it stands now, Canadians cannot get out of country medical insurance. Unless that changes, I doubt you will see many of us. We may have to get reacquainted with Canadian winters.
No vaccine....No medical insurance....no travel to USA. Have a winter home in Casa Grande, AZ and optimistically....2 yrs before I`m there again.
