RE: Solution to Trash Left Behind!

Part of the problem with litter is there is no convenient place to dispose it. People dump tires, old mattresses, etc. along seldom traveled roads and other places because municipal dumping places are few and far as well as their charges for dumping are out of reach for many people. In some campgrounds, the "pack it in-pack it out" plan where you are supposed to take all your trash home with you, leaves people without any resource to discard leaky smelly trash they don't want in the passenger seat of their vehicle. Other campgrounds have one central spot for trash disposal, often quite a distance from the campsite. You gotta be kidding me, it sounds like you're advocating dumping your trash instead of dealing with it. That right?

It does work well.

RE: Truck Campers and Boating?

I towed and launched my 18' x 48" Lowe Big Jon boat with my camper on the truck. I used a hitch extension and I had a long tongue on the Calkins trailer. I started with tow mirrors and later installed a wireless backup camera on the camper. I didn't have an issue doing it.

RE: Front Frame Mount Tie Downs Not Working!

I struggle with the idea that the OP's TL product is to blame as well. Why? Because I hit a HUGE pothole while going about 70mph on the Alaska Highway near Destruction Bay in the Yukon. I was heavily loaded in the camper and the truck. A rear wheel bearing was cracked from that hit. One thing that was NOT damaged by that HUGE pothole (when my truck and camper went up in the air a bit and came down hard) was my TL tiedowns. I don't have Fastguns just standard turnbuckles, chains, and the spring-loaded eyelets on the tiedowns. My 2 cents.

RE: Using a c-pap in a TC Inverter numbers W/Humidifier.

I use a Philips Respironics Respironics DreamStation CPAP machine which has a heated humidifier and tube that I can shut off. My CPAP can run off of 12VDC and that's what I use in the TC or RPod. When I'm traveling in my TC or in my small RPod trailer, I shut off the heated humidifier and tube and use it in "cold passover humidification" mode. That saves a lot of power. And doing so works ok for me. There are cold passover humidifier devices available as well. https://www.cpapwholesale.com/info/passover-or-heated-humidifier https://www.cpap.com/cpap-faq/Passover-CPAP-Humidifier

RE: How do you store bikes inside your Truck Camper?

I use one of these for my bike inside the camper when I'm solo: https://www.amazon.com/Bikehand-Floor-Parking-Storage-Bicycle/dp/B07D64KTRH Otherwise, I have a Thule Swing-Away receiver hitch bike rack that works very well for multiple bikes.

RE: Is a Gas 3/4 Truck and Pop-up Camper Safe in Colorado?

Yup. Safe in Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Washington, Oregon, and Alaska as well as BC, Alberta, and the Yukon. ....all of which I've traveled with my Toyota Tundra and Outfitter Apex 8.

RE: Campsite Squatters

I'll dig a hole at least 12" deep and slowly drain my gray water into it and fill the hole back in when I'm done. No one will ever know I was there. That's the way to do it!

RE: Campsite Squatters

Yeah, we should do everything the way we did 40 years ago, and this issue has little to do with tree huggers. Dumping your germs and food on the ground would be better than nothing, but since we have an alternative, not dumping correctly is just being lazy. But, if it really isn’t an issue. Feel free to put a sign up in your front yard to encourage people to dump their grey water in your front yard. Report back how that works for you. :D +2 Yes indeed! Tell us all how that works for you and your neighbors. Step up and show us how it's no problem. Give us all your home address so we can come by and dump our gray water on your lawn. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. This applies to most everything in life. https://www.boondockersbible.com/knowledgebase/can-i-dump-my-gray-water-on-the-ground/ (Ignore the "US Forestry Service". It's the U.S. Forest Service. That's pretty rich coming from enviro saviors such as you guys lol. You have enough stuff in your signatures to have killed 500 trees and polluted at least two streams manufacturing it, and evidently burn fossil fuel as fast as it can come out of the ground. And you know we're "enviro saviors" how? You know us personally? What we do for a living?

RE: Campsite Squatters

Animal poo in the woods isn't concentrated in one spot for years but scattered around the area they frequent nor do they dump harmful chemicals in the woods...... unlike humans. you obviously haven't seen the pile of deer poop around the salt block in my backyard. bumpy Just like the flies, deer, elk, bears, etc around a gray water dump site.

What’s wrong with being a tree hugger exactly? only the most rabid ones are "wrong" bumpy Yup, only the most rabid of anyone regarding anything are wrong. Far right, far left, far up, far down.....even far out. Like I saw on a business's readerboard the other day: "Personal decisions have public consequences". Think about it.

RE: How to store truck tailgate when off truck

I put down an old piece of carpeting and propped the tailgate against the wall of my garage. Currently I store the tailgate against an interior wall but I have also stored it outside propped against the exterior wall. The tailgate survives just fine when outside since that was the intended use. X2. Pretty straightforward.

RE: Campsite Squatters

Draining the gray tank on the ground is just stupid. The food particles, the soap, the various salts and soaps, everything in the gray water attracts animals. It's just plain sloppy behavior to do that.

RE: Campsite Squatters

Are you trying to be insulting or is it just my interpretation? Take a deep breath or two. I think it’s your interpretation just like I think it’s your interpretation of how those other campers are supposed to act. Somehow, you think everyone has to agree with how you think those areas should be used. I’d just go explore and find other places to camp if it bothers you that much. You might find that you like those other places better away from the crowds. You're doing a lot of interpretation here. It's not that I think everyone should agree with me on how those lands are being used. People are misusing them and treating them as their own privately owned land. I was just wondering if this is a common thing. I have seen a lot of bad behavior from others while boondocking in public lands from minor annoyances like this to people dumping their blackwater in campsites as they leave. I'm not big on rules, but I do like to be fair when it comes to shared resources and expect others to be fair too. This is the very reason and the very people that rules are created. I could continue this thought and add in politics, government, and a whole host of other things relating to not following rules.....but I won't.

RE: Campsite Squatters

Yes, they have. I worked as a USFS fire suppression aid (cleaned campgrounds, collected fees, painted stuff....no fires) right out of high school. That was 1972. People would pay the fees and leave their trailers for a week. Or not pay their fees. I ticketed one guy who said he was a veteran of WWII and he was not gonna pay no G*DDamn campground fee and he wasn't By G*D pay any ticket. The ticket went to the magistrate in Billings who promptly dismissed it. I found out later that he did so for any such citation. Not worth his time, evidently.

RE: Campsite Squatters

Seen it for years, mostly in the higher elevations of Utah.Asked rangers and they ho hum about it.When you see grass growing around the wheels it's obivious the rig hasen't been moved in months. Pisses me of but there's nothing I can do about it. A lot are for hunting camps. Some nice rigs just sitting. They usually are pulled out before the snows. And there lies the problem, those that are paid to enforce the rules, are not willing to do so. They are indeed paid to enforce the rules but probably know from previous experience that the citation they issue will not result in any legal action. The rangers are just like every other law enforcement officer in that they have to choose their battles.

RE: solar project starting to come togeather.

Setup, takedown, store, setup, takedown, store gets old fast. And watch it for theft. But on the roof... Put up the ladder, clean the panels, walk on the roof, take down the ladder, move the RV into the sun, set up the generator, start up the generator, take down the generator. And watch it for theft. But, on the ground....... My portable solar setup takes 5 minutes to deploy and produces more amps since it is aligned with the sun than a roof mounted solar panel at an angle to the sun. To each their own, of course.
