RE: Arctic Fox 811 short bed

Man, that SB on a MC looks freaky. How far behind the rear axle is COG? Does the front axle un-weight? Maybe the pic is deceptive, but it looks like the camper hangs way back. Believe it or not but the arrow indicating the COG is just before the rectangular cable tv receptical, and it appears to be about 1 inch behind the rear axle.

RE: New Member and Future Truck Camper Owner

Northstar TC makes the Arrow 8.5 for short-bed trucks. Arctic Fox has the 811 for short bed trucks

RE: Shopping for a camper...

$27,000 out the door, before sales tax. Did you look at Northstar TC’s? Nice camper.

RE: WOW ! How did we do that ?

A little coffee/latte shop by us serves a Dilly Chicken Salad sandwich on farmhouse bread, chicken salad with chopped dill pickle pieces, and it’s delicious.

RE: No 3/4 ton trucks.

Sit in the seat, drive it, look over the hood - what do you see, the road. Can't tell if the truck is ugly or beautiful, or just a truck. It's the ride that matters, and the haul-ability. Otherwise, you can always buy a Honda Accord for a lot less money. :) :) :) Absolutely :B

RE: No 3/4 ton trucks.

The 21’s are so butt ugly, they sent them back. Roger that. 2020 and 2021 Chevy wins the ugly truck contest Remember what they say about opinions.:R

BOTH ladies keep this place hospital sterile. BATHROOM and kitchen all glazed tile. Hot water, detergent and clorine. Stove, dishes and utensils. With doors, windows and fans going, they go from room to room. Me being always in a different room. I've got tons of detergent, hydrogen peroxide, bleach and surgeon's scrub. I even microwave currency for 10 seconds. Coins go into the bleach and water jar. I'd give Howard Hughes a run for his paranoia any day. :B

RE: The price of new trucks is beyond comprehension!

You are right as rain, and used trucks are no better. I bought my first pickup for $3,300 in about 1974. It was a Chevy Luv with an Isuzu engine and a 4 speed and 2wd. It went everywhere. I just saw a 2002 Ford diesel go fro $35 k. If one of the car makers figures out that there is a market for simple trucks at a lower price they will sell all they can make. I don't need a backup camera, blue tooth and adjustable pedals. I would buy a truck with vinyl floors and seats if the drivetrain was good. That’s what I purchase, my first truck, 1972 GMC half ton, 250 cu. in. 6 cyl. three on the tree and was $2,500.00, my present truck 2015 GMC 3500 HD dually was $40,000. Both trucks are base trucks and do everything I need my truck to do. If I want fast and fancy that’s what my car/SUV is for.

RE: Proof I have too much time on my hands

It unfortunate that so many people are buying online, the local merchants really need the business and your state, county, town needs your tax dollars to get through this terrible time. Buy local.

RE: Opinion on a campground?

Our favorite campgrounds are campgrounds that have strict rules and are not afraid to enforce them and patrols regularly. If you want to party go to a venue that allows such things or stay home and party in your neighborhood.

RE: Adding XM antenna to avoid camper overhang

Nice. Just a reminder that steel is needed for magnets to work; late model Fords will not work so well. Also, I understand the Ford factory shark fin antenna is dual duty for Sirius and GPS. Can you use 3M 2 sided tape?

RE: Opinion on a campground?

YOU should have called the authorities due to the size of the crowd and this little thing called COVID-19. Why do you think this thing is getting worse? It’s remote events like this that are causing Covid to continue to rise/spread. There's a lot of merit to this as well. It would depend on what the state's rules are-they all vary. I checked the State of Alabama and it limits groups to no more than 10 people.

RE: What did you wake up to this morning?

We have had a nice stretch of Indian Summer, coming to and end on Thursday. Cleaning all my lawn equipment and putting it away for the winter.

RE: I am now "terricited"

I would love to do that Alaska Cruise. I live here but have not seen the southeastern part. How do you deal with the hoards of people? I want to do this but I cringe thinking about being on a ship with thousands of people. There are other cruises I would like to do also. My dream at one time was to cruise to the Antarctic. When we use to cruise, we always went with Holland America because their ships only use to hold around 1200 people, not the 2500 on those other cruise ships.

RE: I am now "terricited"

We flew into Anchorage right after July 4th, sailed south out of Seward towards Vancouver on Holland America cruise ship and stopped along the way. It was a great trip and a great time of year. Have fun.

RE: Stop gap suspension advice

You might check and see if Roadmaster has a sway bar for your Ford. Call around and checking delivery dates might be good as well. eTrailer, Tweety's, etc. Roadmaster doesn’t make a sway bar for my truck. I called them and asked. I called all around the country trying to find a Hellwig Big Wig. No luck. Wow. That’s strange, if you go to their configuration page for 2019 Ford F-350 they show a sway bar for the SRW and one for a dually. They also show a front sway bar.
