RE: Help with identifying delamination / water damage

You have been given some pretty good answers and advice so far.The one thing that always seem to come up when talking about a Former Rental is the old wives tale of "drive it like ya stole it" and many other flat out wrong statements and misleading information. Remember that when you rent a RV you sign a contract that says you are liable for any damages and also a $1000 deposit. Also they have to be maintained and documented to stay on the road, thus making money. When you get time read thru the Buying A Former Rental thread. This will give you real answers from owners of Former Rentals, there you will find more that 140 members that are happy with their choice.I have yet to see anyone say that they are sorry that they bought one or any that have had a major problem. I have had my Former Rental for more than 11 years and All of the appliances, refrigerator, stove top, oven, microwave, furnace, water heater, A/C, all have been trouble free and worked without fail. They are all the original ones that came with the RV when new. All doors, cabinets and drawers are tight and working as they should, the fit and finish is still very good. Even all the tank sensors work! The Onan generator has been trouble free with over 900 hours on it, just routine maintenance and running it monthly under load if has not been used, to make sure that it stays that way. The Chassis part has only had 2 small problems, one a slight over heating problem that was solved with the installation of a Severe Duty Fan Clutch and the other was a small leak in the transmission tail shaft seal that was replaced at the 100000 mile checkup. Not too bad for a vehicle that is over 16 years old, being put in service as a rental for 5 years in Feb. 2006 and has over 140000 miles on it. So welcome to the Forum and I hope that your quest for that perfect RV will be fruitful.

RE: Waste water totes for fresh water

I see no reason not to use a new unused tote you described. It is made out of HDPE it is widely approved by both standards organizations and code agencies for potable cold water applications.

RE: Attn Dedmiston

But there is one that IMHO is too quick on the draw and will NOT explain why there was discipline as the others will happily give reason. I do recall that at onetime this Mod that you took to task explained to you in very plain articulate and eloquent language why and how you went beyond what is acceptable. I did agree with him at that time as I do now.IMHO I think that Forum Rule #5 was was very close to being broken.

RE: Looking for a new RV for my daighter

Another avenue is to looking at the Rental Market . In your situation, that strategy makes a lot of sense. You can get into a RV for a surprising figure! Also have a RV that has had proper maintenance, they come with a 1 year or 12,000 mile power train warranty and 30 days on all major appliances. There are more than 140 members that have done this and are very happy with their decision. Welcome to the Forum and Good Luck in your search.

RE: Where have all the members gone on this forum?

Having read thru most of this thread and I have to admit that I don't think that most of the sub-forums are not over moderated except for one and I have blocked it so I wont even see it. On another note a on the question of where they have gone.I used to get a lot of information from 2 members that seemed to have disappeared. One was Chris Bryant. Also Old Biscuit, when going to his profile it says"member could not be found" Did he pizz off the wrong person and get banned again or was taken out by mistake like last time?

RE: Traveling with Propane on

One last question, at home do you start off with the fridge on electric and then switch to propane when you leave ? Or just start off with the propane at home before you leave? Thank you I always have mine on auto when at home and plugged in which has it running on electric, then when I leave it switches to propane and I keep it on for the trip. If yours doesn't have that feature I would start on electric then switch to propane, thus saving propane for later.
