RE: Portable ice maker for RV.

I really like my IGLOO that I picked up at Home Depot . looks good, no handle would make it a pain to move around. what does the 26 lb. mean? bumpy 26 lbs. of ice per day.

RE: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?

CA units do not use the plugin in your photo. The shore power is hard wired on the coach and to run the generator, you plug the shore cable into a receptacle in the shore cable storage box to power the coach. That is good to know that CA units have the same set up as many others have, like mine that is located in the shore cable storage box https://i.imgur.com/qA520hQl.jpg height=220 To get power from the generator to the coach the power cord must be plugged into the receptacle, like this https://i.imgur.com/wKa0jqRl.jpg height=220 A good maintenance item to check is to open the box when not plugged in to any power source and make sure all wires inside are tight, they do sometimes get loose or pulled loose,as mine did. I clamped my cord to the wall just below the box to make sure that it didn't get pulled loose.

RE: How abt a 1999 Winnebago Minnie??

You have gotten some good advice here so far and I can only add this. My last RV was a Winnebago, the quality of workmanship was topnotch, solid and well made,if I could have found a Winnebago for sale in the configuration and floor plan I wanted when I went looking for my present RV I would have bought it,they were out there but none for sale. The 7.2L motor is a solid motor and if maintained well it will last a long time. It is a beast and a bit fuel hungry. I had one in my Class A Winnebago Check for exhaust leaks on the test drive that motor has been known for that problem as mine was. The other good thing is that it is built on a Chevy Chassis this will give you more room and a better ride.

RE: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?

Hello Bill AKA bcrunk. Welcome to the Forum, also a future member of the Former Rental Owners Club. You are one of the lucky ones to get one of those rare 19Gs,I know that they have had a waiting list for a while. I Know that this thread is long but there is wealth of information contributed by our Forum members, hopefully it has been helpful to you, also maybe answered some of your questions. When you pick your unit please come on back and share your experiences on the purchase and your comments on how it went and what you liked or didn't. When I picked up my RV from EL Monte RV I was given a kit like THIS ONE it had all the basics to get started, the toilet paper was a nice touch. Also a set of These Tri Levelers these are handy and needed to get level for proper operation of the refrigerator. Again Welcome to the Forum and I can't wait to hear back form you after the purchase.

Click Here The Good Sams would be a better choice if you could get it.It is not a warranty but an Extended Service Plan that not only covers the chassis but also the coach and trip interruption, unlike the other one.

RE: Cruise America's Extended Warranty Service Agreements

Cruise America special orders their units from Thor, and when they sell them, they are branded as "Majestic". These do not have slide-outs or awnings. I have no idea if the bodies have any structural changes, other than they all have an excellent length-to-wheelbase ratio. They have changed some of the,I guess they would be problem areas that may be structural. The newer ones have no rear window and no window in the door.

RE: Cruise America's Extended Warranty Service Agreements

I find that the El Monte refurbished rentals are approximately $10,000 more expensive for the same class, size, and year. I find that a bit of a stretch. The ones at Cruise America in your area run about $35000 to $37000 for the same class and size but are 2016 year model,as all their RVs are on a 4 year turnover model, Where the same size and class and interior design at El Monte RV is $39989,but is a 2018. 2 years newer and most likely with less mileage. El Monte RV is on a 2 year or less turnover model. On another note I found THIS POST on how El Monte RV responded to their 1Year/12000 mile warranty and filled the tank with gas!

RE: Cruise America's Extended Warranty Service Agreements

After scouring the Rental thread I have not come up with one owner that has used the extended warranty, seems that not many bought them. There have been a few that used the warranty that was given free when they bought the RV. On that note when I started the Rental Thread Both El Monte RV and Cruise America both had a 1 Year/12000 mile warranty, now Cruise America has only a 3 Month/3000 mile warranty unless you buy the extended one. That may be why they are pushing the extended one,as the did when I was looking. El Monte still has their 1 Year/12000 mile warranty. Also when I purchased mine from El Monte RV I asked about an extended warranty, they told me that they did not push one because they used the same company that Cruise America used and had so many complaints about them that they stopped offering them, to much hassle. As has already been stated here and a few other posts on the forum, they are huge money makers for them and most times they will deny the claim. As I found out on my previous RV,but that is another story.

RE: Sway master bracket failure.

Oh I thought it was an ongoing problem.....you know how many problems those Fords have with their front suspension. We that have Chevy Based RVs don't seem to have any of those problems.....:B :B:B Sorry had to poke the bear a little bit. Have a great camping season, hopefully we all can get out soon.

RE: Sway master bracket failure.

WOW that is the second time you have had this problem in a month. I would think a whole new replacement front end would in order.

RE: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?

Update - I picked up my CA 23A from the Denver (Federal Heights) office this afternoon. My wife and I spent three hours going through and detail cleaning the inside. WhooHoo texasvwnut,Thanks for the update, what a nice way to celebrate the 4th of July. I will put you on the books as member # 118 of Forum members that are in the Former Rental Owners club. https://www.picgifs.com/emoticons/smileys-and-emoticons/thumbs/smileys-thumbs-217948.gif I hope the ride home was a good one and all went well. RE: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?

captjoe Welcome to the RV Forum and the Former Rental Owners club! I will put you down as member #117 of forum members that own Former Rentals. https://www.picgifs.com/emoticons/smileys-and-emoticons/thumbs/smileys-thumbs-951446.gif Wow you plowed thru the thread,I hope that it did help. The thread that you referenced is from Harvard,a well known authority here on this Forum for instructions on how to make those Ford Chassis based RVs handle better. As for the roof I cannot say,I know that my Tioga has a walk on roof and I would hope that one of the owners of a RV like yours will chime in. Again welcome and I hope that you will enjoy this camping season if things get better, please come back and tell us how it is going or if you made any mods that you can share for the other owners.

RE: Wind noise E-450

Hi, The noise level dropped greatly after I added Air Tabs. They did little for the mileage. Handling was improved. Before air tabs I had to shout--after air tabs ordinary conversation levels were possible. Familiar with air tabs at the rear of a coach. Can you describe exactly where you placed them up front? A picture would be even nicer,I have them on the rear, and a lot left over. https://i.imgur.com/TedsSBTl.jpg height=220
