RE: Having Difficulty Finding Replacement Roof Vent Covers

I have to agree with enblethen, using this guide it seems to be the one, showing the outside and inside of vent lid. https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51MRpzoL6xL.jpg height=550 If you haven't done this before Here is a short video that will help you. You may need a new seal that goes on the metal edge this will make it a tight seal This is what you need Replace like this Also Maxxair covers are a great thing to have to make the vent lids last a lot longer,I replaced all my vent lids then covered them with the Maxxair covers 10 years ago and they are like new today.

RE: Koni or Bilstein?

This has come up many times here and it seems to be equally divided, the Koni shocks are about twice the cost and get some good reviews and I know of One Member that would gladly exchange his for the Bilsteins that he used on a previous RV,expensive is not necessarily better. The Koni shock was not in production for Class C when I wanted new shocks but even now I would not opt to buy them. I will recommend the Bilsteins they did not make the ride any harsher and stopped the porpoising and the ride is smoother and cornering has lot less body roll. I have used Bilstein shocks on all my vehicles for many years and have been pleased with their performance.

RE: Extension cord shrinkage

I had this happen on my shore line power cord after 15 years of use. I just replaced it with the best one on the market today with a Progressive Industries male plug.

RE: Quality in a class C

Some pretty good answers so far,it seems to me that the quality has gone down in the last several years. So older ones have a lot better quality,my 2006 Tioga has not given me any problems as far as the quality of the build,All doors, cabinets and drawers are tight and working as they should, the fit and finish is still very good. Even all the tank sensors work! Things to look for is not only quality of the build when looking for a used unit but also the maintenance that was given the unit. Another avenue to look at is the Rental Market there you have a quality build that has to stand up to vigorous use and is maintained well to keep in on the road and making money. There is more than 140 Forum members here that have chosen to do that and are happy with their choice.

RE: Wanted - Fresh Water Hose for "Olds"

I am with Grit Dog on this one. Being an "old" with one pretty much useless left hand I have equipped all my hoses and other parts with Quick Connectors The only thing I have to connect that requires screwing to the hose bib is my Pressure Regulator which has a large grip on the end, everything from there on has quick connects, pressure regulator, water filter, then hose to RV all equipped with quick connects at both ends.

RE: Cruise America Towng

As rlw999 pointed out it is Cruise America that sets the limit. A discussion about this on the Buying a Former Rental thread may be of interest to you This Post and the following ones will answer your questions.

RE: Anyone Completely Redo Their Interior?

It sounds like a lot of work, there is one thing that I may be able to help with.As for the ceiling it is best to clean it,I had the same problem on my old RV and removing and replacing was not a great idea, what a mess and then I had to redo it,managed to get it done after a few months and many failures. As for cleaning on my newest RV with the same type of carpeting. I have had great luck with Folex,on my ceilings just spray it on and BLOT don't rub,you will be amazed at how it lifts out the stains. It may take more than one application but it took out all of my stains. http://images.lowes.com/product/converted/079738/079738000323.jpg height=280 You can get it at most big box home improvement stores or Amazon check out the reviews and the pictures,I had the same results!

RE: Possible return to RV life

Welcome Back! Since you have been away you may not have seen a long running THREAD that may be of interest and another avenue to explore, more than 140 members here have done it and were very happy with their decision. OP wants a RV with a slide. I believe all the used Cruise America Class Cs are slideless. Cruise America is not the only place to buy a Former Rental. Here is one example and there are others. One slide, rear bed and 26Ft pretty close to what the OP was looking for.:B

RE: Chevy V8 vs Ford V 10

I can't speak about the the new V8 that has just been put into the newest Class Cs.I have not seen many posts on them, what I have seen is that they are much quieter than the V10 under load and seem to be de tuned some for better fuel mileage. I can however speak about a Class C V8 on Chevy Chassis. I have a friend that has a V10 in his and we go all the same places and we seem to have about the same performance except I get a bit better fuel mileage and am not as worn out as he is after a long run fighting an ill handling rig even after all the time, money and work he put into his, following all the tips that have been brought up here on the Forum.
