RE: Nissan for a tow vehicle

I am just curious. You say that you have read about Nissan having transmission, drivetrain, and other issues....so why are you looking at a Nissan, especially a used one out of warranty.

RE: Cheap sunbird locations? Escape Florida summer

Forget humid areas like Georgia and N. Carolina. For truly comfortable days with cool nights, head to the mountains of New Mexico or southern Colorado.

RE: Cheap sunbird locations? Escape Florida summer

If you truly want to be cooler in the summer, then head for the mountains of New Mexico or southern Colorado. 7000' or higher will keep you very comfortable with balmy days and cool nights. Forget humid areas like Georgia and N.Carolina.

RE: Best generator

We had a Yamaha 2000 for 8-9 years and never had a nickels worth of trouble with it. Sold it to a friend and bought a new Honda 2000 (in the box). It was in the shop after our first use as the tech said it was clogged from stale gas! He said the factory puts some gas in, runs it a bit, and packs and ships them. Some sit for months before being sold. Cost me $70 or so for service as Honda would not honor the warranty. Wish I had kept my Yamaha.

RE: Immigration crack down

You are "getting a lot of reports" from whom? Stopped on the street where? Being held by whom? Please be specific.

RE: Glacier National Park and Mount Rushmore campgrounds

Rafter J Bar outside of Hill City would be the best for a class A as they have areas with large sites. It is also more of a 'Nat'l Forest' feel to it. Custer S.P. is an excellent choice but I don't think a class A would have as many choices. At Glacier, there are many private RV parks that will work for you.

RE: Buenos Aires Wildlife Refuge

I'd genuinely appreciate hearing from the OP regarding his concerns, without the snide remarks from others.

RE: First RV Grand Design vs Keystone cougar

Out of 150 brands of RVs, Keystone Cougar would be 149th because of the horrible lack of quality control.

RE: Trip to Colorado from Minnesota

I think you are making a mistake by "not getting in too deep" in the mountains. That is what makes Colorado!! If you just stay in the cities up and down the front range, you may as well stay in Minneapolis or Omaha. Stay on I-70 and drive at least to Dillon and Frisco area. The more you see, the more you will want to explore. If you went to the Southern part of Colorado, the scenery is just as great plus the weather would probably be a bit better. The snow usually begins in the North and then moves South. Taking the dogs and renting an RV are two different subjects....both wrong at that time of year.

RE: 4 season package?

Yes, go to Yellowstone National Park in January. Then let us know what you think. Seriously, "4 season"rating seems to be a marketing ploy, much like "The world's best hamburger." Some may have extra insulation in the tanks area, some have heat strips, other minor additions to imply warmth in the winter. Let's face it....if they were truly 4 season we would be camping and parks would be open then.

RE: Trinidad CO to Clayton NM (160->389->551->325->64)

Raton Pass is easy (Interstate)and Raton to Clayton is good 4 lane all of the way, much of it pretty new. I see no reason to take your proposed route. I would stay in Raton, then next night in or near Lubbock, then home to Fredericksburg.

RE: Manufacture vs Dealership

If the manufacturer starts selling directly, then he is competing with his own dealers, which are actually his 'sales force.' The dealers won't stand for this and will drop his line of RVs.

I'm not sure which is worst....the exterior or the interior.

RE: Spouse left behind after death at a Campsite, what to do?

If a spouse should die while camping, the survivor has bigger problems to deal with than packing up and getting the RV home!

RE: Lander city park, Lander WY

There are two decent RV parks there. We have stayed at the one in town and it was very quiet and easy in/out.

RE: Tunnels, bridges & hair pin turns

You will have tunnels, hairpins, etc in Custer State Park, not Badlands.

RE: Denver area in Winter??

We lived in Monument, CO for 22 years. Save yourself a lot of grief, discomfort and problems. Board the dogs and stay in hotels. Then you just have to worry about icy roads and getting snowed in/out somewhere.

RE: Escapees worth joining?

There is no comparison between the two. Escapees offers activities, benefits, RV parks, and even mail addresses. Good Sam offers poor roadside service if you buy it.
