RE: Honest RV Dealers - Are there any?

Yes, of course there are honest RV dealers! They are usually the locally owned "mom and pop" shops that live in your community and the owner is the guy you deal with. Sometimes it is your PERCEPTION of the dealer because of an honest error by a clerk, a technician, or a salesman. Or sometimes it is your PERCEPTION of the dealer because YOU mis-understood something, didn't listen, or simply had no idea of what they were talking about AND you were too ashamed to ask.

RE: Four Corners/Durango

Some of the heaviest/wettest snows in Colorado are in April. Weather could be 70 degrees or 25 with snow. May would be a much safer chance of good weather.

RE: Temporary "driveway" over grass?

I'm sure the neighbors and the HOA Board are really going to like your new deal. They have covenants like that for a reason and you are just heading for a fight with the HOA.

RE: Rapid City, SD area RV park

I forgot to mention that Custer has several parks that could work. You might also check with Custer State Park as I know they have a couple of group areas. Narcodog (above) has the wrong town. Spearfish has their own RV park at the fish hatchery.

RE: Rapid City, SD area RV park

Rafter J Bar would be great if you could get an entire section of the park to yourselves. It is in 4-5 different areas. One in the woods, one in open sun/grassy area, one by pool and basketball, etc. It is close to many attractions. Hermosa is not close to any attractions and if I recall correctly, it is just an open parking lot atmosphere.

RE: Trouble with my Honda 2000 genset

I bought a new one and the first time I ran it it started fine and stopped after 20-30 seconds. It did this repeatedly. I Took it in for repair and it was clogged from dirty/old gas. Told the repair guy that it was fresh out of the box and he said the factory ran it and left gas in it. Probably sat for months before it was shipped and sold. Yours just might need cleaning.

RE: Grand Canyon north Rim

No guarantees re access to area as it all depends on the weather at that time. It it isn't covered with snow it could be very muddy!

RE: Throwing in the towel

Get out NOW while there might still be a buyer for your home! The longer you wait, the more it will cost you.

RE: I Went Camping With Five Girls!

I was born in Hannibal, MO and we moved when I was 9 yr. old. I went back about 10 yr ago just to see it again. These photos brought back some pleasant memories. Also curious....I keep reading how no one can find CG sites but your photos all show you alone!!

RE: Winter camping in Alberta

The fact that CGs are closing should be telling you something. Perhaps you might reconsider camping in November.

RE: How to tow travel trailer with 2 adults, 3 kids, and 2 dogs

Since you are totally new to RVing, I suggest you go buy a book on RVing and camping. It will explain pros/cons of each style, weights, safety, equipment, techniques, towing, capacities, etc. AFTER you have read that and done MORE research online, THEN go looking at units. Don't buy the first one your wife thinks is pretty or is the cheapest. Do your research and be patient. Your will be money ahead...and happier!

RE: Winterizing Travel Trailer

When we lived in Colorado, I used the blow-out ONLY if we had an early and unexpected cold spell coming in for a day or night. It works fine short-term but not for the winter. Use anti-freeze!

RE: Camping experiences

You say they were reported for disturbance during the night but at 4:15 pm they were still there. What did the CG mgr. say about the lack of response by the sheriff's office? I hope you don't ever have an emergency there!!

Watch your step when you get out of your RV! Your tires may not get much traction, either.

RE: TT tire pressure - sticker or tire PSI?

You are going to need new tires very soon so go ahead and get new ones NOW. Enjoy the peace of mind while traveling. Keep the best looking one of the old ones for a spare. Spare racks that attached to rear bumper are cheap.
