RE: TSD Fuel Program Update

Ha! It figures...I finally just signed up 10 minutes ago! Well, most stations around here are under $2 right now. A bargain. Probably get a good discount when prices go back up again. JK

RE: 2020 Ram 2500 CTD owners

2018 Ram Cummins 3.42 When towing my 11,000 5er, if I let it shift into 6th at around 1200 rpm @65 mph, anything more than a slight uphill grade, will cause it to drop to 5th gear. If I keep it in 5th gear, around 1700 rpm @65 mph, it will stay in 5th for most hills...not talking mountains here. So most of the time I keep it in 5th and I usually use the cruise control. JK

RE: Opininons on 2013 open range 386FLR

Open Range has many nice features, and the ones from that era are nicely appointed. But in the early years they had some structural issues, though by 2013 I think they were past that. Pay attention to the transition area from the main body to the front overhang. Look for bulges and cracks in the fiberglass of the sidewalls there (especially by those front slides), and gaps in caulk from shifting. Yes, visit our forum (a very friendly group), and many owners are very happy with their rigs. If you're new to this, hire an inspector. JK

RE: Southeast Florida to Sheboygan, Wisconsin RT

If you want to avoid Chicago, take I-74 west to I-39 north, to I-43 through Milwaukee. If going through Chicago, take the I-294 bypass in Chicago to I-94 to Milwaukee. (Sorry, I-90 doesn't go to Milwaukee Dick B, it goes northwest to Rockford/Madison). There are several state parks along Lake Michigan and they are extremely popular. Very unlikely to reserve a site now, but you might get lucky. I have no experience with the private places there to make a suggestion. JK

RE: Traveling around lake michigan

Hard to go wrong with many suggestions, but a couple of interesting things to do: Silver Lake, Michigan, north of Muskegon has sand dunes on Lake Michigan and is a popular off road area. You can rent a Jeep and go on the dunes. Solo or with a guided group. We did this and it was a blast. A little out of the way is the shipwreck museum near Whitefish Point in the U.P. I'm not a boat person, but I found it really interesting. On the way back down in Wisconsin you can skip Chicago by taking a ferry across Lake Michigan. I don't know if they can handle your rig and it would be expensive, but you'll probably never forget the ride. JK

RE: Furrion Backup Camera Quality and Performance

The first one I had I bought on Ebay 3 years ago and failed within a year (don't know why) and Furrion wouldn't honor the warranty...didn't buy from a "store". The next one didn't survive a Blue Beacon truck wash this winter (trailer was full of road salt)... my bad. The 3rd one has a better picture and sound, but this is getting expensive! They were all observation cameras. JK

RE: Jamaica Beach RV Resort

We stayed at Sandpiper 2 years ago and would never stay there again. They stuck us in a site against a 6' concrete wall that had other sites right above us. It's only a few blocks from buildings that have bars on the windows. Close to the beach was nice, but that's it. Next time we'll go to the Jamaica Beach area. JK

RE: YouTube camping videos

Watching YouTube channels are our favorite things to watch at home and in the rv. We always watch on a TV, not a phone or computer, with the sound playing through the stereo. Many, well at least some, provide good quality music, especially Grand Adventure. We watch many already mentioned in previous posts, plus: Campendium (also hosted by Jared from All About RVs) Rv Geeks Rv Lifestyles RVerTV Long, Long Honeymoon Rv Texas Y'All Next Exit JK

For the last 2 years, on Thanksgiving weekend RVLocks has 40% off for 1 day. I don't remember if it's Friday or Saturday. JK

RE: Cd's into zip drive so I can play them in new car

Does the car have an SD card slot? Or a USB reader? My 2018 truck has a USB input in the console. I put a bunch of CDs onto an SD card, and using an SD to USB adapter, I play them through that. JK

RE: First visit to Quartzite

Not sure what people see in quartzsite seemed like a lot of nothing when we went Here, maybe this T-shirt will explain it:

RE: First visit to Quartzite

Ha! We may have been there at the same time Ralph. We definitely were!! How coincidental! I arrived the afternoon of Mar 10 and left a.m. of Mar 13. I looked at the satellite map of both of our locations and see where you were. I probably saw your rig from where I was. Why didn't you come over and say hello? :) :) Here's where we stayed.

RE: First visit to Quartzite

Ha! We may have been there at the same time Ralph. We were at Plamosa Road from February 28- March 12, about 800 feet west of your GPS coordinates, in the next "row" up if you look at satellite view. 33.76094,-114.18185 It did rain the last few days we were there. We had solar installed Monday the 9th in the Q and I think the next day the rain started. JK

RE: First visit to Quartzite

We stayed there in early March this year for 2 weeks... our 2nd time there. We stayed on Plamosa Road and I'm amazed at how clean the land is. Lots of room, had breakfast at the Mainstreet Restaurant a few times and pizza at Silly Al's twice. This year had mostly nice weather there. We enjoy it there. JK

RE: Purchased my first RV

I bought 2 20 foot sewer hose kits for a total of 40 feet. I've had to use 30 feet at least twice so far. You bought 30 feet...Good move on that. I bought a sewer hose tube from Camping World and mounted it under the trailer and also use the bumper. JK

RE: Gas under $2--rig parked

Many in the Milwaukee suburbs are $.94-$.99 for regular right now and with my Kroger fuel points discount card, I can get it for $.59/ gallon at BP. One place is $1.14 for diesel.

Gave it to the credit card to help pay for the new solar system we had installed on our 5th wheel last month in Quartzsite. JK

RE: 5th Wheel Crushes Truck Follow Up

If the flange of the pin isn't under the jaws, they won't close. Well, how do people "high-hitch" then? I assumed that the jaws were closed in that scenario.

RE: 5th Wheel Crushes Truck Follow Up

FTG you won’t need the flashlight unless it’s dark. The silver jaws are easy to see. I also use a flashlight.... to make sure I can see that the flange of the pin is UNDER the jaws. JK
