Memphis to Branson

Heading to Branson this week for 4 days from Memphis. Just started looking for things to do and with the exception of dinner shows and the Titanic exhibit, doesn't seem to fill up 4 days. Any suggestions? Also looking to drive through Little Rock on I 40 or use RT 65 north. Both appear to be about the same time, but RT 65 is a little shorter distance. At $5/gal for diesel, I am starting to pay attention to distance, and not just time.

RE: Water Pressure Regulator

I had the guard variety and it broke after a few months of use. Gauge broke. Regardless of adjustment, needle never moved. Even when it had no water hooked up to it. Had to replace it with what was available at campsite with basic, no adjustment variety, and have just forgotten to replace original.

Heading to Alamosa CO

Checking for recent information on fires heading in this direction from Denver. Currently on East Coast and heading that way from Missouri. Looks bad with NOAA info. Any info appreciated. Griff

RE: Gas cards and any tips for the full time class a diesel

It should be mentioned that one of the best advantages of the TSD fuel card is that you swipe at the pump, fuel and drive away. You never have to leave the fuel island. So, so easy! this is an old topic, but thought i would chime in with the prices being so high lately. We have saved $.75-$.90/gal in the past 2 weeks traveling south using the TSD card over pump price. Sometimes pump price is high, but still always competitive rate with discount and easy to pay and go at Island. Always buy DEF at the same time. TSD price with discount is usually, (not always) the cheapest or close in given area. We have used it across the country and have no complaints. I won't kill myself for $.10/gal savings if it means going out of my way by much.

RE: Cooking with wind on Blackstone

Well good to know I am not the only one having this issue. Funny I never saw any info on this when I was investigating the Blackstone. Should have known to just look on Amazon. Thanks for the info.

Cooking with wind on Blackstone

Just got a 17" Blackstone to replace our Coleman. All good, but on a windy day, I couldn't get it hot enough to cook anything. It was an issue with the Coleman, but just took a bit longer. The gap between the burner and griddle is significant. I tried to block the wind, but it just didn't work. Ideas? Appreciate any input.

RE: First trip- 2013 Winnebago Vista 35B 18,500 miles

Thoughts on items I have experience with; 4-Learned to use level on phone (after calibration). Once you get used to it, you have a good idea what you will need to get the coach close enough to level to use the levelers. We use leveling blocks, easy cheap. 5-we pull a Jeep GC. Blue Ox towbar/baseplate, Air Force One braking system. No problems in 15,000 miles. Not cheap. 6-Happy Camper. Only think I have ever used. Enjoy!

RE: Internet & satellite tv for full time 5er

We use Dish since it goes month to month and it works well, including local stations. Good point about roof mount or portable. We use dish on roof and have had it blocked more than once in campground. We also use YouTube TV for streaming at home and on the road. Cheapest, best streaming service we could find. Even with the OTA, streaming and satellite, we have been without a TV signal in many places. And that's ok too.

Jeep GC diagnostic plug and AF one braking issue

Hard to say what I needed in subject line. Have had 2018 Grand Cherokee towed behind my Tiffin for over a year and about 18,000 miles. No problems with Blue Ox hardware and Air Force one braking. One of the service lights came on in car (service stability control), made appointment at dealer, and he said he couldn't hook up diagnostic cable to see what the issue was because it was blocked by the brake hardware installed on pedal. He said that would be an issue on any service required and not having diagnostic readings to go on. I left and will call shop that installed the system, but was wondering if anyone has had this issue. I think the Jeep/GC and Air force One combination is pretty popular out there. Thanks for any guidance.

RE: Back up camera trouble

My rear camera would stop working and intermittingly work for a bit and then stop again. Dealer first replaced wiring harness which seemed like a good start. I swore it was a bad ground. No joy. Same symptoms. Then they replaced screen in the dash. I didn't figure that was the issue...nope, same issue. Finally just replaced camera, and that fixed it. unsure if this is typical or what model camera it is. This is a 2018 Tiffin Allegro RED coach.

RE: zero G water hose

Bought my first one with my first RV last year. Great hose. When needed, I will replace it with another.

RE: Leveling Jack Pads/Slide Out Supports

I put SnapPads on my MH this year and I really like them. I don't have to worry about campgrounds that request you use pads. Slide out supports....never. Potential for damage exceeds any benefits, and any slide out I've had never needed any stabilization. +1

Power "vampire" on coach batteries

I parked the RV after 10 months on the road and full service at the dealer which included checking all batteries. I parked it for 10 days with no shore power and the coach batteries (4 6 volt) were down to 11.7 v. I had the inverter off, and both battery banks shut off. This has happened before, but I had forgotten about it. I have power to run charger thru the winter, but would like the option of disconnecting if we have power outage etc. I understand some coaches have things wired directly to battery bank, but would like to know best way to figure out what is drawing power when everything is shutoff. Thanks.

RE: How many states has your dog been too?

We just finished a 10 month trip. Coco has been to 23 states, both the Atlantic, Pacific, Gulf of Mexico and 3 of the Great Lakes. She just turned 2 and is happy to be "stationary" for a while.

RE: Captain chair/sofa upholstery

We have a 2018 Allegro Red 33aa and both the captain's chairs are clearly showing wear after 3 years (22,000 miles). I went out of my way to meet Bob Tiffin at the Hershey show last month and very nicely asked him how to get it repaired. He wrote down his number on my show program, and told me to call him. They have a woman in Red Bay that recovers the upholstery. I asked him if this was something that was normal and he said absolutely not. I know Steelcase had issues with the leather some years, but he said 2018 was not a year he is aware of with the issue. Now I just have to get the rig to Red Bay from Philadelphia! Very nice conversation though. I complemented him on his coach and organization.

RE: RV campgrounds near Yosemite NP

We stayed at the Yosemite Lakes CG, the Thousand Trails site. We are members, so didn't pay for it directly. A lot of TT CGs are not well kept, but Yosemite Lakes was by far the nicest TT we have been to this year. Beautiful sites. Somehow I chose the worst way to drive up to Yosemite and suggest getting some advice on the best route to use. I can't remember what route I used, but it was the worst drive of the year with narrow roads and "twisties" going straight up (and down). Found out apon arrival there are easier ways to get there.

RE: Just beginning to do homework

Thanks to all for your input. So the tour is probably out and will use the resources listed for further guidance. I should have been clearer about the timeframe to get out to AK. I was thinking 2-3 weeks each way to get out there and return. No way will I ever budget 300 mi.day to go anywhere. I do 350 max, but try to keep our daily mileage to 250 or less, depending on road conditions.
