RE: Rocky Point Bike Rally

I guess I don't understand the "be part of the crowd" thing. I do my best to avoid standing in line, being part of the mob, waiting to eat, waiting to use the toilet, etc. Been a motorcyclist for over 55 years, and never been to any of the "must see" motorcycle rallies. I'm headed for the roads less traveled. Agree and very well said

RE: Indian Reservations

The Piute Tribe of Northern Nevada did close their Pyramid Lake and reservation to all outsiders last year with highway checkpoints on the state hwy through the rez. Everything is open now and I frequently fish on their massif Pyramid Lake each year. Their website is up to date with all the rules and regulations. Pyramid Lake is also a U.S. National park and their police are very strict on speed limits. They do have two paved RV camping areas and dozens of unpaved waterfront locations for off road RVers. Their fishing and camping permits are pricey.

RE: What I like about tent camping

One half of all my short term camping/fishing trips is tent/truck camping and the other half is with a TT. I am 75 and still going strong on outdoor stuff as it keeps me healthy along with kayak fishing, uphill hiking and stair climbing several times a week.

RE: RVs over 10 years old are valueless

Lie like a dog or go to SPs, NFs, other public campgrounds, etc.

RE: Best generator

I have had very good service from my small Firman inverter gen I bought on sale at Costco. Has parallel cables, usb port, RV port, etc. Nice and quiet in economy mode for 9 hours per gallon. Use it for fishing/camping trips to SP, BLM and NF.

RE: Rotella T6 5w-40 hard to find

I always keep extra stock of Mobile 1 full synthetic on hand for my three Dodge Ram trucks and check the store shelves frequently. Also extra supply of mobile or Mopar oil filters just in case. The two older trucks are for spares backup and remote BLM rugged land camping, fishing, etc. Insurance is cheap and they work great. Over 30 years with USAA my boy.

RE: Opinions on lightweight portable inverter/generators

I find they are wonderful creatures to have as a backup JO if you have lots of extra room but if not well.

RE: is running exhaust brake all the time ok?

Are they loud Jo like the 18 wheelers. I do see signs everywhere. This from a newbie.

RE: is running exhaust brake all the time ok?

But if it turns on automatically, you’ll forget to turn it off. That’s dangerous. No it isn't. You don't forget to turn on your headlights, turn on your wipers, and roll up your windows. There's a difference between risk and danger. I don’t turn on my wipers they are rain sensing. Headlights are auto, but only when dark, I need to fool the sensor. Good replies rhagfo and stickdog. I like it says mikee

RE: Should I cover my tires?

Think you may be over doing it here Jo or whatever as in over the top. My minor no worry chores were absolutely no inconvenience or real expense to me John but thank you for your in depth thoughtful well meaning RV experience for. And yes I do have a lot of time on my hands for fishing, camping, RVing and other frivolous activities as a retired and disabled vet since 2000. Thank you for your tax dollars and cheers to the brave

RE: lithium question

Jo I think he meant a regular car battery charger with bat clamps like the one you plug into a house socket for current. I also await the answer from experienced RVers or tech heads. I do use small lithium battery power packs to jump start dead truck lead acid batteries and they work great. Quick and easy and cheap.

RE: "Solar" Sub-Forum

Hey Jo as someone stated earlier neither the IRV2 or Escapees forums have a Solar sub forum and they are also free. Cheers

RE: Should I cover my tires?

For many years I covered the TT tires with cloth tire covers when setting outside on storage lots in very hot Texas sun and periodically applied 303 protectant to them. Never had any cracks or dry rot and towed the TT all over western states and Rockies. Except at the beginning with Goodyear tires I used Maxxis tires always. The task of covering my tires took only a few minutes and applying 303 protectant was fun and satisfying to all the Jo's out there.

RE: Harbor Freight Jump Starter

I have had excellent results from two different sizes of those bat power pack jump starters on two different size V8 truck engines. One I bought at Costco on sales for less than $100.00 (half price) and the larger one same color as the OPs I bought on Amazon for $100.00. The smaller one works just fine on the larger 5.9 V8 also. I have use them more than twice in last two years and they saved me a lot of grief and aggravation in remote areas. Note if you have bad bat cables at the bat terminal connection then they may not be enough juice to start your motor. I still carry jump starter cables in all 3 trucks as backup.

RE: Suggestions for Printer/Copier/Scanner for RV

I have always had good experience with HP printers but I don't care for their PCs or laptops and instead use Lenovo and Dell, Acer.

RE: Recommend a TT (rough roads, no campgrounds)

Now days they do make trailers for remote off rough road camping. They are usually small and I see them on all the dealer lots. Many brands to choose from now.

RE: dicore rubber roof

Although my roof was still under warranty I applied a coat of Dicor liquid rubber to my roof every year as it was very easy and almost mess free of cleanup using long handle paint roller. Roof always looked nice white and clean. How long will your trailer be out of service for the new roof??? I have heard reports on RV forums that dealer warranty works often takes months before service depending Since you say bottom shows no sign of leakage or damage or rot maybe a good roof cleaning and application of liquid rubber coating or Flex Seal/Flex Armor may or may not solve the problem and you can have check sent to you. Just one possible option. Good luck to you. I never had a problem with the roof of my 2003 R-Vision TT by Monaco Coach that was every year exposed to extreme hot Texas and Nevada sun/heat and snow and ice with no cover on outdoor storage lots. You have a newer trailer????

RE: Camping 3 months with single 100Ah Lithium

Did you use only solar panels to recharge the battery or is Truck also able to charge the battery? I know very little about solar panels as of now. Enjoyed and saved many of your photos over the years. Thanks
