RE: New Jersey to California

Stop in Amarillo and visit the smaller version, but still magnificient, of the Grand Canyon. Palo Duro Canyon is awesome, and underappreciated. I highly recommend you spend a day or 2 there. OKC has the National Memorial and I 2nd the visit of it. While in OKC you would be amazed at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. The art work is fantastic, there is so much there to see, it deserves far more recognition. If you run I-40 west from Amarillo, take the very 1st New Mexico exit and stop to fuel up, take a break, eat, whatever, at Russells Truck & Travel Center. Owner has an amazing car and other stuff museum that is absolutely free of charge. I always stop there, restroom break, etc, and wander through it. It's another under-appreciated gem. If you want to stop in Albuquerque, the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History is amazing, too. It's just off I-40, catty-corner from a Costco. I always stop here too when traveling. You can google it or check out on Youtube.

RE: Four (4) Row Radiators? Gimmick or Blessing?

4 rows will make the hot coolant take a little longer time as it travels in and out thus providing more time to cool off better. .

RE: East through Kansas

OH!!! Listen up! You can thank me later. Stop in Hutchinson and visit the Cosmo.org Museum You can thank me later. This is probably the best underappreciated and not well known museum to spend time in. Do it! Stop!!!

RE: CB Antennas?

The shorter the antenna, the more lousy it the reception/transmission becomes. You have to do what you have to do, but that's a lousy idea, the shorter antenna. You need to get at least 1/4 to 1/2 wavelength, and decent coax and connectors. Most CB coax is junk and the connectors are too. Best wishes to you.

RE: Holy Chutzpa on the Surcharges Batman

Link This doesn't apply to towing (hopefully not), but check out this new video from Steve Lehto, Lehtos's Law, on Youtube. It's far far far beyond outrageous. Sorry, I'm having trouble making a direct video link. https://youtu.be/W3MNm9mPFcs

RE: Trip Report: New Mexico Atomic History

Nice posting, I really enjoyed it. Next time you are in the area, go to Albuquerque to the National Atomic Museum. I've been there several times and will stop in again when I'm in Albuquerque. It's an excellent museum and you'll see and learn a lot. It's just a little south of I-40 on Eubanks. Nuclear Museum Link

RE: Trip Report: This Time Last Year

Wow! Very interesting. I was born and raised in SW Oklahoma and then moved to OKC for college in the Fall of '76. I've been in OKC ever since. Having said that, I've never heard of the amusement and historical place you visited. Interesting tidbit, I was born and raised in what was once a part of Texas, google Old Greer County (google it for the story), which later was given to the start of the State of Oklahoma. It's sad to see historically important places become abandoned and deteriorate to pretty much nothing. Very nice story and pics, thanks for sharing.

Their service is down right now, but their normal price is $3.99 I have a pic but I can’t seem to post it. I don’t understand why not.

RE: I need a new shifter cable for my 1992 Rockwood

BTW for any used parts needed, I'd contact COLAW Salvage in Carthage MO (Joplin area). They're a big'un and are always worth contacting first. COLAW RV sales is next door it's a big'un too.

RE: Multimeter recommendation?

Well how about that? I kept thinking I had a Fluke. I kept digging around in all the toolboxes in my garage. Finally found it. It's a Fluke model 77, series 2. I got it used, due to a screwy situation, back in 1991-ish. So this old girl is 30 years old or a few more years older. Off to get an Eveready Energizer 9 volt Lithium battery and will fire this old girl up and see what happens. .

RE: Carrying extra fuel in Canada

Thanks for all the varied opinions. I guess I should have been more specific. My question was more along the lines of whether it would be legal to cross the Canadian border carrying a couple of 5 gallon jugs of extra diesel. I'm certainly not going to spend $1800+ on an auxiliary fuel tank. I thought so, that's why I recommended buying the cans after your cross into Canada. Or keep the cans empty at crossing. Surely you can get ahold of the Canadian Border Crossing people and inquire with them. EDIT TO ADD: I just took a quick look at Canadian Border requirements. It *looks* like you can bring fuel across the border, but there is a limit to how much, there may be a fee to be paid if too much, and they may be picky about the fuel container. You really need to contact Canadian Customs, and if they say it's ok, try to get it in writing or email, and print copies and take with you. I've always had good to great experiences with Canadian Customs, but it's been quite a few years since. Good luck to you. In light of all that, Personally I'd just buy a couple fuel containers in Canada after I crossed in. Easy, no worries, no stress, no **** to deal with.

RE: Carrying extra fuel in Canada

If you think it'll be an issue, you can always buy the fuel cans after you enter Canada. Canadian Tire is sort of their version of a wallymart. Proceed on.
