RE: Selling our C -- Two Options

With 2 in high school and college visits underway, we're asking similar questions. Appreciate your thoughts being detailed out to learn we're not the only ones wrestling with options that ultimately all benefit the family, but in different ways.

RE: Where have all the members gone on this forum?

A lot of answers are available out there, yes by searching here -and also YouTube etc. I think readers in general have shifted to video. Or they're just enjoying their travels :-)

RE: Passing thru BC, YK to Fairbanks - bring motorcycle or not?

Roads that way are, in general, very sketchy due primarily to continual weather damage and permafrost heaving. Your RV will be jouncing along, as will the jeep. Less stress is less stress, but any experience is unique when done with a bike. :-)
Since (it sounds like) you haven't been before, I'd suggest enjoying it with the group and the other toys, and go back with the bike next time. It's amazing!

RE: hundreds of CD's many in original packaging, mostly country

Look for a used music or record store in the next town you visit. They might give you a little bit for each, or make you a package deal -and turn around and sell them for a couple bucks each.

RE: Replacement catalytic converter

Can you put in a straight pipe until your next trip away, and do the work there?

RE: Zion in winter, the good, the bad and the ugly!

Days like these I'm glad to have a motorhome rather than a travel trailer. Glad she's healing and that your trip was positive overall. We were there this past summer, thanks for the memories!

RE: Whaddaya gonna do?

A supply disruption will have many impacts before it stops fuel at the pump. I'd enjoy the trip and be thankful I could go.

RE: Locking gas cap

Still have mine from the last spike but this is a good reminder ??
A bit bummed that a trip doesn't seem to be in the books this year, but maybe that's a blessing in disguise... it'll certainly be interesting where prices go.

RE: Bolt on wheel simulators

Shops damaged ours over then years, widening the hinges and losing the washers I found to keep salvaging them. I didn't want to pay that much to replace them. So I sprayed the rims grey matte and they look fine on our rig. Much less maintenance.

RE: Advice on unique oppotunity

Super C makes a lot of sense, and you know it's called for- and good time to sell yours, coming into spring in a hot market.

RE: Rant - getting someone to work on a Class C motorhome

When you find that shop(s), wherever it is - stick with it. We first try local independents, and then think of the chains & dealers if that doesn't work - for the same reason (too many excuses why they can't take our rig).
Morry at West Coast did great work for us near you... in Florence, OR (6 hrs away). I'd encourage all of you to also write your reviews at http://www.rvservicereviews.com/Index.asp

RE: Multiple Buyers. Who gets the RV?

Agreed. No point in putting the cart before the horse if one of them doesn't like it or can't get the full amount of funds to you.

RE: Differential Service

He said when the particulate matter in existing fluid will, when replaced, make the seals/ gaskets the "weakest link" & they may fail more readily. Let a sleeping dog lay.

RE: Differential Service

I ran into the same question when doing other fluids at 60 and every interval after. Shop said they could but new fluid could actually cause more harm by being pristine, then leading to other issues, particularly before heading out of a trip. Thanks for raising the topic for more perspectives.

RE: Had to buy two new tires

At 31' and rolling heavy we almost max out our load range, but so long as your front axle is ok with Es then it makes sense to me to have the newest up front.
Tread wear and going flat shouldn't be related, DT should have told you how many 32nds of tread each tire had, and also explained that 3/32 is the minimum DOT allowance. You could use that to judge how conservative/ customer-oriented they were for you vs a sales technique. Also the nail may have been covered in your road hazard warranty if you'd bought it.
What's curious is why 1 side was bald vs the other, especially if both were equally inflated and monitored with tpms. Otherwise my first guess would have been that 1 was low, and so the other took the bulk of the load and wore out quicker.

RE: cruise ship crewman buying rv and tow or towed in no.amer.

I wonder about storage locations vs ports of call, and how often they'd be able to use the rv.
These aren't meant to discourage, rather just think about the full range of associated factors. I applaud their inquiry and look forward to their experiences on this board in the future :-)

RE: It's time to winterize...

My cousin burned out half his garage using a space heater to warm it rather than keeping the car batteries on a trickle charge, hence my concern.
You're right.. that GFI circuit would only cut power if the wiring overheated- I'll have to ask what they traced his back to, was years ago.
You've done plenty of preparation, and agree that you're probably better prepared than some of us in colder climes. Kudos for keeping the toys in good shape, so they'll be ready to go when you are :-)

RE: It's time to winterize...

The unattended space heater doesn't sit well with me, though I'm sure you have it plugged into a GFI.
If I was on shore power and outside, I would prefer to set the furnace at 50 and expend some propane instead.
Everything else sounds great- I don't have a compressor so we just fill the lives with pink stuff, but then again, Da Moose won't be let loose until spring break (we've been winterized about 6 weeks already - 14 degrees here this morning brr!)
