RE: type of hitch

Maybe he is talking about bending the frame on the tv?

RE: Rocket launch.

Manatee Hammock campground is right across from the launch pads. They even have a sound feed and viewing area for the launches along with a posted schedule at the office.

RE: Cortez, CO RV parks?

We have reservations at Sundance and it appears they now take credit cards. Cannot say how god or bad it is, just the fact that they no longer require cash payment.

RE: Stupid question about tires

Another thing to consider is that there is no way to pull a complete vacuum on tires to eliminate any air in them before filling with nitrogen. When there is a way to do this then I will believe that the tires are 100% nitrogen filled. Until that is possible, your "nitrogen filled" tires have one tire volume of atmospheric air in them before filling. It would still be a gimmick but the 100% nitrogen claim would at least be accurate.

RE: Bear Spray

On a side note, large containers of bear spray are allowed into Canada and any that could be concealed are not. Apparently they are saying that a lot of pepper spray is ok but a little isn't.

RE: Some things never change

Seems like the OP has reached the end of the road for camping. When something is no longer fun why keep doing it? I gave up banging my head into the wall when the fun was gone. Might be time to make room for someone else in the campgrounds.

RE: Slide Topper on a 2019 coachman Mirada 32ss

Seems like you discovered another reason to go over anything attached to the outside to make sure it is tight. Once yearly after you check the roof just keep working your way down to ensure everything is tight. Things come loose from heat/cold cycles, sometimes they are not real tight from the factory and sometimes they pull out for no known reason. Your brackets may have been just tight enough when the unit left the factory but use and vibration from going down the road loosened the screws enough to let things come apart. Never assume that all factory and dealer installed items are as tight as they should be, especially brackets and screws making wire connections.

RE: Murphy bed pros/cons?

We had a 23' MiniLite with a Murphy bed that we thought would be a great idea as it saved room and gave us a huge bathroom. Got tired of it real quick as the dinette was not fit for adult seating. Got old real fast because if one of us needed to lay down the other had to be uncomfortable or lay down also. Traded up to a Cougar 22 with a king sized bed and smaller bathroom and recliners in a slide. A full time bed is better than a part time one in our eyes. That is our experience with a Murphy bed.

RE: Deleting and Closing A Thread

Reading and agreeing with all threads is not mandatory. Read what you want and ignore the rest. There is enough cancelling going on in the world and it does not need to spread to the forums.

RE: Removing seized shackle bolts?

Just did the same job and it took a long box wrench wedged against the frame and a 24" breaker bar. As soon as it broke loose it was normal ratchet work. Keep in mind that the nuts bottom against the shoulder of the bolt so it locks on more than if it was just holding two pieces together.

RE: Why keep soliciting...

For about the first five years of my lifetime membership I got renewal notices on a regular basis. After a bunch of phone calls it stopped and has not returned. Now I just get renewal notices for services I do not have but they are printed on good paper for the compost pile so I do not complain about them.

Read what you think is in your like zone. The rest is for people with different likes. Reality can be so awful this way!

RE: Battery that can be part of the structure of a vehicle

Wasn't the early Vega designed as a throwaway? It had a no sleeve block that had a very finite lifespan. Sounds like disposable design to me as the motor replacement was more than the car was worth.

RE: Passing car forces Class A to shoulder

It took you that many miles to see all of that? You could see all of that in one morning commute on the wonderful Long Island Expressway also known as 495.

RE: Sharp reverse turn with Equl-i-zer hitch?

17 years of using a dual cam setup and half of it was a sharp turn backing uphill into the side yard and no damage to trailer, hitch or tv. Did wear out a set of cams but considering it was over 45k miles it wasn't an issue as they did their job well.

RE: Towing error leads to BIG reissue bill

Just proves that some people have more money than brains. At least nobody got hurt but some had a tough time avoiding the flying parts.

RE: cost of Morryde suspension.

Just changed the factory equipment to an Equa-Flex but it is basically the same job no matter what you are putting in. Worst part of the job was jacking the unit up and getting it on jackstands. After that it was unbolt and bolt in new. If you get the wet bolts go for the bronze bushings too. 2182 miles on the original plastic bushings and they were about 25% worn through. Last trailer had about 6000 miles on it when I changed over and the plastic was completely worn through. It is a job worth doing.

RE: does propane go bad?

It probably does but my guess is that you will be dust by the time it does so don't worry about it. Your tank will go bad way before that.

RE: Would you back a camper for someone?

Yes, I would also help or jump in and do it for you. That said, it is not rocket science. As stated above, your mirrors are your friends. When backing, put your favorite driving hand on the bottom of the wheel and move it in the direction you want the trailer to go. Relax, take your time and be patient. No skill is attained instantly. Enjoy the experience as it is another rewarding part of camping.
