RE: Crater Lake 3rd week of June

Be prepared for any kind of weather. Like hornet28 said Rim Road closed in one July and I have seen couple of inches of snow at the lodge in mid-August 1976 and the lodge was playing Christmas music. Take the rim road loop if you can. It gives some good views, road is driveable but rough and narrow that may bother some, I have taken our 35' Bounder around twice just have to spend sometime re-bolting everything. Watch for bicycles! I prefer to go counterclockwise, you got to cross for the turnouts but it isn't that bad. There is also open-air tour buses that do the loop, cost was reasonable the time we did it. Maybe 8-10 RV parking spots at the lodge but you will find lots of people consider their Yugo an RV and they are rather tight due to the cars parked in the no parking areas. Have fun!

RE: Bryce Canyon NP to the Northeast

It is worth the drive. When we got near the top of Hogback the wife ran to the back and put her head down for a few miles. That was the only spot that made her nervous.

RE: Weigh Station ??

I would like to know how many times this same subject has been beat to death on this as well as other RV forums. And the answers are all the same, every time.

RE: Good Low cost Camping Map Books for The West?

I have had a copy of this book for 20 years and still fall back on it at times. I know nothing of this seller, it was just one of the first hits that came up.

RE: Laundry room in a closet in a Class C

Nice work for sure. I would hate to loose the storage area in "C" but now you have storage for clothes. Dirty ones in the washer, clean in dryer.

RE: What to do about fire damage

It might be cheaper to tow to the dealer than have it at CW. I can recommend two towing companies in the Portland area that I would trust, send me a PM. Might also call the dealer and ask them who they use for towing, the company is going to have to return to base if you get them out of PDX or BFE. What of the repair bothers the tech about driving 110 miles? Never to late to get the insurance involved, which due to fire might have been better to do from the start.

Hell's Canyon Tour Boat Operators

Any one have a favorite operator? Looking to leave out of Lewiston/Clarkston. Hope to do an all day trip up to dam. Couple of old farts with 16 and 13 year old grandsons.

RE: step

Look for you Battery Control Center box. It is a black rectangular. It will look like the third picture here. There is a fuse in it. Download the .PDF Block Diagram and it should help.

RE: Best solutions for internet - REAL solutions please! :)

The high speed data limit on the FMCA plan... 8 (That is the symbol for Infinity in case you do not know it) Seems as though the ultra-modern software here turns it into an eight.

RE: commercial campground near Arches National Park

We stayed Here two years ago. Couple that were hosting then were great! Ask him about his past employment. Just a real character. The place is not the greatest but it was well taken care of and clean. Enough room between sites, FHU except for two, dump station, clean restrooms. I figure we don't need fancy as we are only going to be there to sleep. At south end of town on a slight rise, some traffic noise but not that bad at night except for the occasional truck.

RE: US 12 Lolo MT to Kooskia Id

Good road but you won't set any speed records. Follows the river so lot of curves. Lot of turnouts. The road was used a few years ago to move some million pound plus loads from Lewiston into the Alberta oil fields, so it was revamped to accommodate. We overnighted in Lolo (going west) at neat mom and pop place right on river. If I was to do it again I would stay around Lewiston, our granddaughter was about ready to commit mutiny before I got to the COE park near Burbank, WA. Lolo Pass is steep climb about five miles long. The west side isn't too bad after the first couple miles. We were in a 35' V10 gasser with a toad. Where to in Oregon?

RE: How to prevent Keirig from freezing??

The lowest end Kuring is one where you pour your water in and it uses it all up running itsel dry (you will hear the pump run free... We have one of the single serves also. Couple of times we have taken off for a long weekend in winter we will just grab the few cloths and some food and go to the storage lot. It takes us 15-20 minutes to settle in. We get done and decide to make coffee to go. Keurig wouldn't work. Drove to destination and decide to re-check it before I trash it and it fires right up. Did this twice. Finally decided it just doesn't like to work till it gets warmed up to above 45.°

RE: Retiring from the RV world

I have thought of this also if I get to the point of no return. I don't know if a rookie realizes how much stuff it takes in tools and the miscellaneous stuff it takes for upkeep. I generally buy what I need, within reason, for the MH rather than have to load up tools every time I need to go some place or to the 7 mile trip to the storage area to work on something so I have a lot of duplicate tools. I figure price the coach at fair market value and toss everything else in a a bonus. Just put your cloths and food in and go. And I never park with less than 3/4 tank of gas. I'll even leave the toilet paper in it. If there is stuff you don't want that is what Craigslist is for. As for the toad, we both like it but make me an offer.

RE: winter camping advice

Could you do a quick build of an enclosed storage building/barn that you could park the camper in? Then you would have it for a covered storage for it later. Put some hookups in it and ventilate.
