RE: 2014 Silverado lifter issues

Those 5.3’s were tough engines. I owned a 2013 z-71 with the 5.3. I towed a Work and Play toy hauler. Advertised empty at 6,000 lbs. loaded across cat scale at 9,224 lbs. I very seldom got above of 4th gear towing in Florida. I don’t know what rear end was in it but it towed mostly in 4 th gear sometimes I could hold 55 in 5th.

RE: How to rotate dually pickup truck tires

You can’t rotate front to rear. The wheels are made for one position either front or rear. I never rotate tires on any vehicle and on my DRW Ford is cost prohibitive since the amount of wear is hardly noticeable. The only way to truly rotate on a DRW truck is to unmount and remount on the appropriate wheel.Completely wrong. It may be so for your truck, but don't jump to the conclusion that is so for all dually's. My Ram has the steel wheels and any wheel can be located at any position. YTMV. The spare is a steel rim that can be run in any position. The front aluminum and the rear aluminum are not the same. Aluminum wheels are usually not polished on the inside.

RE: Your Opinion On Air Bags

Just my 2 cents from owning pickups for farm/work/play. If you have a towing problem with sway or just an uneasy driving experience and your towed trailer is properly set up, then you need a larger tow vehicle.

RE: Do you pull your taillight housings monthly?

During the 70’s, Chevrolet trucks were notorious for bed and body rust. I remember telling a friend, on a quiet night, if you had nothing else to do, we could go outside and listen to our Chevrolet trucks rust. During the 80’s, Chevrolet used galvanized panels for several years.

RE: Crossing into Canada

Flying into Canada from Knoxville last month. Had to have arrive Canada filled out along with our American Airlines app filled out before we could get our boarding passes. Took almost 1 1/2 hours in line to clear customs once in Canada. Coming back to the states, went through US customs in the Calgary airport before we we were allowed to go to the gate. AA from Calgary to Dallas then onto Knoxville without anything this side of the boarder.

RE: Crossing into Canada

We just crossed over from Calais, ME to St. Stephen, NB. We filled out the ArriveCan form on line and the border guard never asked for it. He only wanted our passports. If you read the "fine print" it doesn't say they won't let you into the country but you COULD be denied. To cross back into the US proof that you are a US citizen is all that is needed. The border officer would enter your name into his data base and determine if your Arrive Can was proper and you had disclosed a scan of your vaccinations. We just returned from Canada on the 7th.

RE: renting a 5er tow vehicle

You don't say what year his trailer is but I have found that the new trucks are too tall for the older trailers so if his trailer is pre 2010 or so it might not work with the newer trucks. Not true across all brands. My 2006 Sandpiper and my 2018 Cardinal towed fine with the 2007 Ford DRW and our 2018 Ford DRW.

RE: fox fire of Murphy

We live north of Blairsville. While building our home, we stayed at Rivers Edge RV just 1/2 mile west of US 129 on US 64. All pull through concrete pads full hookups. Rivers edge

RE: Cleaning your 7-pin connector: air gun brushes

I store my connector in a bag inside the kingpin housing when parked. I use a shot to dielectric grease every so often. I’ve never had a disconnect or any indication of a connection problem since new in 2018. Trailer has over 20,000 miles and around 50 campgrounds.

RE: Front Cap

I would clean it good and use several coats of a ceramic polish. They seem to really hold up better than normal Meguiars type wax.

RE: Furrion Back up camera

Ours worked about 8 months then one day, the monitor went black. Furrion wouldn’t comment. I removed it and sent it to the recycle pile. All Furrion stuff is junk from the get go. Their Tv, their Microwave and their camera system. I would assume they had a RV tire deal also.

RE: GMC 3500 DRW

My long air Chuck works for both inside and outside. Used on class C, class A diesel and DRW trucks. https://i.imgur.com/8BYdXGpl.jpg

RE: RV retail sales drop 31% April year over year.

Even with the price of fuel, there was too many RV’s to count going N & S on I-75 over 2 days last week.

RE: Heat Pump or Not

Depending on how far north you live and use, the heat pump will only work down to around 38-40 degrees. I’d save the hassle and get a good electric heater to take the chill off and use the furnace only when necessary.

RE: Goodyear recalls 173,000 RV tires

Don’t know of anyone that would have 22.5” tires on a fiver let alone, tires 19 years old.

RE: New Outside Stairs

If your talking about the "Solid Step" I wouldn't have them, RV came with them it would be a deal breaker. They fold inside so any debris, mud, water, snow or ice goes inside. They do make a mat to catch it all inside. Then there's the space issue can't open in parking spaces they hang over to the next spot. Try opening in a storage area with another right next to you, how do you load for travel without taking it from the storage? Why is it that we don’t experience any problems with the solid steps having travelled over 25,000 miles and 342 nights. We don’t set up in mud and the broom takes all other things like sand. We park in rest areas without a problem even in truck stops.

RE: RV parks on the beach Florida

Agree with Pensacola Beach RV and Santa Rosa RV. Topsail Hill Preserve SP is exceptional -- all FU -- on beach. But you need to book nearly a year in advance (11 months maybe?). We are booked for Destin West RV park, farther west than Pensacola (like santa rosa RV park) for 3rd wk June this year. Have not been to it yet but looks super nice. Topsail is 1/4 mile walk or tram ride from the Gulf.
