RE: Heading to Cades Cove. ?Route 28 Franklin to Lauada?

You would be 10 times happier and faster to head on up to Dillsboro and take 74.west.

RE: What axle do I have?

5 lug 3500 6 lug 5200-6000 8 lug 7000-8000 Ballpark way to know. 4400# axles are 6-bolt I've never ever seen a 4400 LB axle on an RV because it has the same 10" hubs/brakes as a 3500 axle. 12" drums on a 6,000 axle.

RE: Jacksonville, FL to Hiawassee, GA Route Ideas

I drive to Jacksonville from Blairsville every month. The routes described I-75- I-575-515 is the flattest and fastest route. My bride hates Atlanta traffic so I go a slower, longer less stressful route, I-96/I-16, US441 to Clayton then over the mountain on US76 through Hiawassee to Blairsville.

RE: Times Up, Told You So, DirecTV is Dead

We’ve had Verizon for 20+ years and got their “unlimited “ plan when it first came out many years ago. Unlimited high speed to 15GB per device per billing cycle then throttle back to 3g barely able to get email.

RE: Best route to go through Jacksonville, FL

After 10 am until, about 3pm straight through. West side has the Buckman Bridge and 11’ lanes that dance you all the way. The east side has all the yuppies who can’t drive in their lane on the way to the beach.

RE: Times Up, Told You So, DirecTV is Dead

Way2roll wrote. Or use a cellular hotspot and steam your content - if you have a decent signal. We used to live on top of a mountain with no hard wired internet. Decent plan on a hotspot allowed us to stream, work remote and handle anything a hard wired internet would do. Performance was far superior to Satellite. (we had Sat too at one point for comparison) We have Verizon unlimited on 3 devices. We do not stream anything and use up all 3 high speed allotment of 15gb each device by the 20th of each month. You must be dreaming.

RE: Times Up, Told You So, DirecTV is Dead

Case in point. We are building a new home in the Georgia mountains. We have 2 acres in a subdivision with underground utilities, no fiber or dsl. There is only 14 homes in the subdivision. Fiber is available at the entrance to our subdivision. Upon contacting the company that owns the fiber, their quote was $5,800 per home to make our homes satellite free. We will be on satellite for many more years.

RE: Real-life experience blocks to aid 6-point leveling system

While it’s unneeded to get level, I use the blocks under the pads to shorten leg extension that helps in limiting movement felt inside.

RE: GM 6.6 gas

The 10-speed was a joint dev effort between Ford and GM so not sure why Ford is in market with it sooner? The 8L90 8-speed has also been around so not sure why you can't get it in a truck? I have the 10L80 ten speed in our 2019 Yukon with 6.2. While I don’t pull too much with it, it returns a consistent 23 MPG expressway driving at 75 mph.

RE: Fall color prediction map

I’m building a house at the Georgia, North Carolina boarder. I’ll let you know how the map plays out. If we don’t get some rain along these predictions, the leaves will just turn lose and fall much like last year.

RE: New 5th Wheel Driver

If the shocks are original I would definitely replace them with Billstien 4600 or 5100 lifetime shocks, and get either a air ride hitch for the truck, or pinbox on the fifth wheel. The shocks on the FX4 are more than adequate.

RE: 2020 F350 with 6.7 diesel

What mileage does a 2017-2019 F350 SRW with stock gearing get towing a 36 foot 5er that weighs 15K at 65 MPH on flat roads, no wind ? My '17 with 3.55 gears and 20" rims gets about 9 mpg towing a 15k 5ver at 65 mph. Our18 DRW 4X4 lariat with 4:10 gets 9-9.5 mpg at 65 mph towing 17,278 Cardinal. Best riding truck I’ve ever owned.

RE: Times Up, Told You So, DirecTV is Dead

AT&T "corporate" is so screwed up I sold a large percentage of their stock because I don't know how they can continue paying their dividend. Until sometime in the 1990s, the "fat cats" at AT&T headquarters did not need to do much knowing their billions of miles of copper was worth billion of dollars ! Even when they started to get nervous their plan was "fiber to the neighborhood", abandoning much of that asset in place. FTTN was paired with U-verse. These two cost the company billion to roll out. I have yet to meet one person who would say they had a good experience with U-verse. In the past 20 years or so, they have had the "reverse Midas touch". Everything they touch turns to coal. As you drive through suburbia, you still see billions of mile of copper telephone wire hanging on poles. Some is dead and the rest is under utilized. I don’t worry how they pay their dividend but enjoy it 4 times a year.

RE: Waste/Sewage System

I installed a plastic 55 gal drum with holes drilled in the sides starting about 15” from the bottom to the top. I sat the drum in a hole about 2’ larger in diameter than the drum. I lined the holes sides with plastic drain field mesh followed by filling the sides and top with 57 stone. Has worked as a separate tank washout and septic for family overflow from campers going on 12 years. Now it will not hold you dumping all your tanks at once but would hold a weeks worth of black water with no problem while letting the grays stay open all the time.

RE: New Truck for New Empty Nesters

New empty nesters hoping to have more time to use our TT. Trailer is 26' and weighs 5500# dry. Plan to take long trips every 2-3 years(NC to Western US, maybe Alaska, Maine/Canada etc.), and local trips 2-3 times a year. Otherwise will be used as weekend driver (I have a company truck for commuting). I have no brand preference. Hope to stay under $50K and keep a long time. Live on a farm so 4x4 is a definite. Thinking about the following half tons, Tundra Crew Max, GMC with 3.0 diesel, F150 with 3.5EB or Ram with 5.7. Local Nissan dealer has a Titan XD with diesel left from '19. Could get a good deal there. Would also consider 3/4 ton, found a low milage Ram 2500/6.4 hemi, but think I would prefer diesel in that class. Thoughts and opinions. Tundra too old, or rock solid reputation make it ok. GM 3.0 gets great reviews and I like diesel for ease of fill-up when towing. Ford hate to buy now with new body coming out, but great motor. Ram like the new body. Nissan XD, ok to get even though they have dropped Cummins? Thanks Joe When are you looking to purchase? If you can wait next year, there will be a ton of slightly used RV's and Trucks. I believe that you will be able to get an almost NEW , used truck . And just where is this info coming from? Are you the RV. NET Soothsayer?
