RE: New to 5th wheels

I use my sewer Y with FHU but just move the hose at a dump. Black, then bath gray. The kitchen tank goes last and is plenty soapy to not need much rinsing afterwards.

RE: Boondocking Devastation

I've seen a few small areas with similar damage, but those were steep hillsides where tornadoes can't form. The lesson is that Ma Nature does whatever, whenever and don't get in the way!

RE: can LiFePo4 be totally discharged (from a dealer)

Modern retail LFP have BMS built in.
If I lose 10% life I'm still 30-40% ahead.

RE: Converter voltage drop

I went with a Boondocker (75A for 315AH) because it's output is dialed to what you want.
The BMS does most of the management.

RE: Best way to travel the Pacific Coast

In spring head north, in fall head south. PNW rains don't ease up til June and restart in Sept.

RE: Portable Solar Panels

Any thoughts on what makes the Xantrex worth 3-5 times the price of a similar Renogy?

RE: Portable Solar Panels

I worked some aircraft cable (wire rope) into the extended wire run. It keeps the kids and idiots honest.

RE: Portable Solar Panels

Portable solar panels = set up in morning (my roof mounted panels are already working), watch over, move around. Go to town for lunch after putting panels away (my roof mounted panels continue to work). Return from lunch and put panels out. Watch over, move around. Near sunset, put panels away. Repeat every day.
Compared to my roof panels that almost never work, because we camp in shade. And having a trailer means going out for the day doesn't involve repacking anything.
But seriously,
I have an AcoPower 120W soft style. 10lbs and easy to store. I don't expect it to fill my batteries, just extend my time without a generator.

RE: Extensive Traveling with a 5th Wheel

Our lightweight is inches short of 30' and was fine over 7 states in 4 months last summer. A few mods have made life easier, LFP batteries, generator on a tray, and the usual minor stuff.

RE: Internet & satellite tv for full time 5er

I've found the best advice comes from those who do the real world testing and in depth research to become experts.
rvmobileinternet.com has both free and paid help.

RE: 3d printers for making stuff for the RV

I've printed 2 things, well my brother did.
A 6" long knob for the bathroom vent. Should have been longer, DW is 5'1"
Also a filler plate to mount a dimmer in the control panel switch holes.
Files found on thingiverse!

RE: Help me plan our trip - The Dakotas

Last summer there wasn't a Rushmore light show.
They showed a movie that was nice, but could have been seen anywhere.
Watch the NPS sight for changes.

RE: Help me plan our trip - The Dakotas

+1 on Badlands, Wind Cave and Devils Tower.
Mammoth Site in Hot Springs sounds touristy but is fascinating!
The list of simply good things in that area is too long to post.
We preferred the north unit of TRNP, but the petrified forest area is nice.

RE: Way to connect Champion LP hose to mounted propane tank?

I tapped into the low pressure side. The key is separating the Champion regulator from the 'flow control' part. When done the flow part has quick connect male fittings on 2 short hoses. Don't get confused which way it mounts!

RE: Solar Wiring Question

I agree that if wires go in parallel (same start and end) then they work together. But this might be a case for drawing it out on paper.
Solar just means there's a charger in there somewhere.

RE: Solar Wiring Question

Yes!
A circuit is a circle and the neg is as much a part as the pos. The 2awg may handle the current but it's close to the edge.
