RE: Traveling with ebikes

Get a few moving blankets from Harbor freight or Amazon. Take the pedals off, take the front wheels off, lay a moving blanket down on the bed. Turn the handlebars and lay one bike on the blanket. Put another moving blanket down and put the 2nd bike on top of that. Secure with a strap or bungee cord or rope so they don't move around.

RE: Broken cargo door key

Do you have a locksmith nearby that could pick the locks?

RE: Blackstone 22" griddle for $99 at Walmart!!

Nothing like that available near me. $129 for the griddle only. No hood or stand is the best I could find. The one you're mentioning is $174.00

RE: 2019 Duramax Regen

This thread has been interesting and a learning experience for me. My 2020 Duramax and first diesel vehicle was idling high yesterday. I thought it was too warm outside for it to be idling higher than normal. Now I understand why! Thanks for teaching this old guy something :)

RE: Reliable Walkie Talkie?

Why not just buy a couple of hand held CB radios.

RE: 600kbps = unuseable

And that's how the cell phone companies can claim they offer "unlimited" data because technically they do. It's just unusable for the most part.

RE: Ram 2500 DEF fluid

It varies. You will use more when towing than when not towing. It also makes a difference in how big the DEF tank is. My understanding is to expect around 1000 miles for each gallon of DEF when not towing.

RE: Propane tank locks for my TT

Not a good idea....if there was ever a fire, those tanks need to be removed from there quickly to avoid an explosion. I would not want them locked to the trailer in any way shape or form. This is exactly why the doors on 5th Wheels where propane tanks are stored don't have locks on them.

RE: Anyone using a portable washer and dryer?

We actually bought a Magic Chef apartment size washer and dryer. Dryer is 110. The literature says not for use in RV's but they have worked well for us for 3 seasons. I only wash a medium size load because that is what works best in the dryer. For what these two cost, I can replace them both and still pay less than what an RV washer and dryer would cost. Thanks jrs1871. I see they have more than one size in this class of washing machine. What size did you get?

RE: Anyone using a portable washer and dryer?

I have a Costway Mini Washing Machine from Amazon ($69.99) and it takes a good load -- several t-shirts and underwear. If you need to do jeans or heavy sweatshirts, I would advise one at a time. It doesn't have a spinner on it, so you need to get one separately. I think there are new models now which contain a spinner. When we were in Florida at end of March and locked out of the campground's laundry, this came in handy! For drying, you need a drying rack or some other contraption. With covid I will continue to use this method when we are on the road. Thank you texacokat. Yes, I'm looking at either the single drum fully automatic machines that have a spin cycle or the two drum models that have a separate drum for washing and one for spinning.

RE: Anyone using a portable washer and dryer?

I have one, wash is approx 7# load no more Spin dry 4# wet clothes , different compartment same machine One wash load is two spin dry loads Hang them up to finish drying No heated tumble dry in this machine The one your looking at might be different, There is a variety of sizes and functions It does save on the number of trips to the laundromat But if your 6ft 2 inches, 200+# size 42 The machine I have is Probably not for you Thanks MrWizard. I've been looking at the ones like you describe and also the single tub fully automatic models. How does it do with things like a pair of jeans and sweatshirts? All the video reviews I've seen just show things like light weight shirts, shorts, socks etc.

Anyone using a portable washer and dryer?

My 5th Wheel didn't come with washer and dryer hookups so I've been looking into the portable washers and dryers that are available. Most get really good reviews and they all run on 120V. Most of the reviews I've seen are from people that use them in apartments so before I make a decision, I thought I would ask this community what your thoughts are on them. Thanks!

RE: Honest RV Dealers - Are there any?

When we spent last winter in Florida, we went to several RV dealerships including General RV, Camping World, Lazydays and a couple of smaller ones. We also went to two small RV shows in Daytona and the big one in Tampa. No one wanted to do any kind of deals. We waited until we got back home and bought a new 5th Wheel where we got a much better deal. I think it's because Florida sells RV's year round where up here in the North, not many people are going to RV dealers looking for a new RV in snowstorms so they try to sell as many as they can from March-November.

RE: Elon's Starlink Internet Service

gemsworld is correct. I also read that Starlink will only be available for stationary use so traveling in an RV and having Starlink won't be an option. At least not in the next few years. Paying a lot for cell phone data or using Dish or Direct TV will be the only options for RVers for quite some time.

RE: Changing refrigerator cooling unit...New or Refurbished??

I just watched a mobile RV repair Tech do this on Youtube. Here is the link Refrigerator Cooling Unit Replacement. Maybe it will be useful to you. He did say he had trouble finding a parts distributor that had a new unit to sell to him.

RE: Canadians still crossing into the USA

I have no issue with Snowbirds making the trip. They're adults. If they get sick, it's on them. As long as they don't put others at risk, I could care less. I believe it's each individuals responsibility to make sure they take whatever precautions are necessary to keep everyone they come in contact with safe and keep themselves safe as well. There can be all sorts of mandates and rules but ultimately it's up to each and every one of us to be careful. I don't need anyone telling me...........well, I'll leave it at that.

I wouldn't want the motorcoach but I sure would like to hear some of the stories about what happened on that bus. LOL

RE: Looking at '17 3500 Ram

The CP4 issue has been way overblown in my opinion. Call your local dealer and ask them how many they have had to replace vs how many trucks they have sold. Also all HO trucks built after July 2020 have a revised symmetrical CP4 pump that may be a fix for those CP4 problems that did arise. Probably, but it's a known issue that can be really significant. It was certainly a factor when I picked a Ram back in 2015. The current Duramax doesn't have one. They're all good trucks, I'd personally lean towards the one without the known issue. Buying used that might make me lean Ram, new probably Duramax. I read that on the L5P, a Denso HP4 injection pump replaced the Bosch CP4.2 found on the LML.

RE: Looking at '17 3500 Ram

Got my 2015 with 79k miles on it and love it so far! Expect a ton of brake dust from the front brakes and inspect the calipers. I thought it just me! My front wheels look like they are aftermarket black wheels between washes! Will definitely look at ceramic pads when it's time for brakes. No issues with the calipers so far. I don't know why Ram doesn't put ceramic pads on at the factory. I now have a 2020 Silverado with a Duramax that I bought new in July. No brake dust whatsoever.
