RE: Good Sam ERS Hung Us Out to Dry

My buddy recently had a blowout on his 5th wheel and he sat on the side of the road for 4 hours waiting for his roadside assistance. No one was willing to take the call. The contracted tow companies have a choice to accept the call or not. My guess, tire changes are not worth the time and effort for the amount of compensation.

RE: 5th wheel tailgate

Would a nylon web tailgate be easier until one of the V gates comes out for your model?

RE: Electric Smoker for Long Term

Super Dave, great to see you on the board again. Of the three smokers (Cookshack, SmokinTex and Smokin-It) which are made in the USA? I can't speak to Cookshack and SmokinTex but possibly excluding some electronic parts, my Smokin-It was US made.

RE: What time of day recreation.gov release their campsites?

But not until 6 months from the day you want to leave in my experience.

RE: Alignment...I think!

Similar situation on my boat and it was the axle. In my case, the U bolt had slipped a little.

RE: Anyone dribble their gray ?

Guess he should define dribble, I interpret "dribble" as while you drive.

RE: Electric Smoker for Long Term

FYI, the Green Mountain Davey Crockett model has been replaced by the Trek model. They no longer make the Davey Crockett. The only difference between the two is they changed the legs. If you want a high end smoker and have looked at the Cookshack and SmokinTex, the Smokin-It is comparable at a much better price point.

RE: Andersen Ultimate Hitch - my observations

The road that I travel to the lake is so rough that it will rattle your fillings loose without towing anything. My Andersen tows no different than an empty load on that rough road.

RE: Fresh water tank

Or the dealer may have put water in the tank to do a systems test before you took delivery.

RE: Question about freshwater tank use

4 seasons in our 5th wheel and the fresh water tank has never seen a drop of water. Our campground has full hook ups and never had an issue. We do keep a few 3 gallon water jugs in the trailer for coffee.

4 season package?

Is there an easy way to know if my trailer is 4 season rated?

RE: Do I Want to Break Down Solids?

My black tank sensor has never worked, reads 2/3's full even when empty.

RE: Our first, and last, TT rental experience

My wife was recently diagnosed with cancer so we have decided to sell our 5th wheel and try Airb&b trips versus RV rental.

RE: Pet peeve, neighbors leave porch light on

BTW, don’t camp in Alaska in the summertime.

RE: Oregon to charge 25% more for out of state RV campers

Greed abounds. The campground that we stay at on a monthly basis (at a discounted rate) is dropping their monthly sites because they can make more money on nightlies and a full campground.Unlike that dirty rotten greedy park owner, I am sure you have passed on every chance you have had to increase your income. In retrospect that appears to be a bad decision on your part. Because if you had taken those opportunities to increase your income you could likely afford to pay that nightly rate and still stay for a month. It has nothing to do with my ability to afford it for a month. For us, the price now just exceeds the value/experience of staying there but I appreciate your concern for my finances.

RE: Exterior Caulking

The Heartland factory used silicone on my Big Country. It didn't last very long. I am replacing small sections at a time as they fail with Lexel.

RE: Meatloaf

Definitely. Have made it in a cast iron dutch oven and it's definitely a favorite around here. Try it with some smoke introduced as described by OP. You may never go back.

RE: Use of FLEX-SEAL (revisited)

^Thats cool! Is it softer like plasti dip or harder like Bedliner? Closer to tool dip than bedliner. The smooth, glossy finish on my transom panels makes cleaning fish blood and such a breeze.
