RE: Class C vs Trailer for Cross country with family? Help

That's not a vacation. That's an endurance run. 2100 miles in 3 days with three kids in a "C"?

RE: Old fresh water tank spout replacement help

It sounds like a Rube Goldberg device. Maybe junk the whole system and get a new tank, water pump and switch and install it properly. A fifty year old metal water tank is probably filled with rust, and who knows what else. The air inlet might be for winterizing?

RE: Purchasing land to live on in DC area - zoning questions

Land like that is going to be tough to fide anywhere close to DC. Just because no one can see it without trespassing doesn't make any difference. The zoning laws are going to get you. You will need plans to get the permits for septic, water, and electric, and inspections after the install. The further from DC the easier, but you will have a long commute. Maybe W. Virginia.

RE: Several questions

Maybe rent an RV for a week for a short trip. You may be OK driving one but you may hate it. Less cost than buying one and having to sell because you don't like it. Renting will also give you a better idea of how big you want to go. If you are visiting family, use their washer and dryer, otherwise laundromats are the way to go.

RE: Backing that trailer into a tight campsite..

Practice. Practice.Practice. After 33 years driving semi I am fairly confident backing up anything, anywhere. However, sometimes no matter what you do you just can't get in the right place. Last year at a CG I worked for five minutes to get in a spot, got frustrated and drove around the loop to start over and hit in one try.

RE: FORD 460 Overheating Mystery

No to the Steel seal. That will just gum up the works and make things worse. Have you hosed the radiator from the engine side out? Bugs and debris can clog the cooling fins. Do you have a hose that is collapsing? How long since the coolant has been replaced? Maybe a trip to a radiator shop is in your future. A trip to the head shop won't do much, but maybe a tye dye tee shirt would look good.

RE: Canadian Snowbird Future

IMO Covid will be with us for a long time. There is no cure! There will be no cure, it's a virus. The flu is a virus, so is ebola. Both have been around for a long time with no cure. Covid is flu plus 10%. The President, Governors and Mayors had to do SOMETHING. So we ended up with this shut down of everything. Are they going to do the same next flu season? Who knows> I think herd immunity is the best defense, but have to live by the rules.

RE: Camper Bedding

Why would you not wash the bedding after a trip? When you get home wash ash you ready with fresh sheets for the next trip.

RE: Suburban Versus Excursion or something else???

What's the rear end ratio? A change to a lower ratio (higher #) my solve the problem.

RE: Why are people not opening new campgrounds/RV parks?

Cost of land, environmental regulations, permits, water and sewer lines, electric service, road grading, landscaping, more permits, more regulations. Probably more permits and regulations I haven't thought of. Plus on top of all that you are paying taxes before you even open the park.

RE: Salvage title???? update with pics

Maybe a call to your insurance agent is in order. Different states have different rules. A salvage title will definitely affect resale value. Buy it cheap and keep it a long time and you will be OK. Salvage title is forever.

RE: Indiana to Mt. Rushmore

From Elkhart you want to take I 80. Then I 39 N to I 90. If you go I 90 you go right through Chicago. Lots to do around MT Rushmore, Black Hills, Don't miss Custer State Park. Wall drug for the kitch.

You will have to call the warranty provider. Read your warranty, it should have the info you need.
