RE: Plug and play wiring harness for Jeep

You could use the Mopar 82216358AA wire harness made by the manufacturer. You could, but at $450-500? There are much cheaper options.

RE: Plug and play wiring harness for Jeep

Thanks Thunder Mountain and you bring up a good point, the install on the new JL is what scared me away, plus the JK version was out of stock as I recall. Now I wish I'd waited vs using the magnetic lights I used for my 1st trip.

RE: Plug and play wiring harness for Jeep

I setup my Jeep this summer, but will be adding the CoolTech JK Tow Harness Kit as I think it's the easiest to install without any wire cutting or diodes to deal with.

RE: Looking for new motorhome…

We've had our Winnebago bunkhouse Class A since 2007 and it's served us very well. That said once our kids hit the teens the bunks were not their fav, so one usually slept on the couch. So I'd be cautious about buying one based on their ages and if one is going to be off to college or out on their own soon that could change things too. Good luck shopping and have fun!

RE: Tow Dolly Woe

I came to suggest calling the boat dealers too, glad other already said it. While mine doesn't work on the trailers, they do inspect as part of my spring service. We have a bunch of trailer sales places (not RVs) but only 2 shops that service and they both seem to be of the mindset that they are only going to service as many as they can and they won't be pressured. As mleekamp suggested get to know them and develop a relationship if you can. I tried with one, failed he made it abundantly clear he services what he sells and not the other guys. :(

RE: New Class A Winnebago owners

I've owned ours since 2006, still love it and going strong. Be sure to bookmark and/or download the various PDFs for the electrical and plumbing diagrams. * When using the slides or jacks, have your engine running. * How old are the Coach and House Batteries? * When was the RV last serviced, if you don't know plan on getting that done and have them check things over. * How about the generator servicing? Same thing if you don't know when you probably should get it serviced (oil change & filters checked) * The roof on our RVs needs to be inspected and resealed, you can find some info on here and online about this. But having it inspected by a RV tech is a good idea, if this is not maintained you can have the roof ripped off if the wind catches and edge. You can do much of this yourself, just need to learn if not a good RV shop or mobile tech.

RE: 2015 Ford Focus flat tow damage

Have you had any communications with Roadmaster about the failure and the connection point?I did send my photo to roadmaster . I have not heard back yet ? Thanks, that is sort of what I would expect. Sadly, in this day and age of lawsuits many will not respond. While I personally think each part car & baseplate worked fine on its own they did not work together as the consumer would expect. I wish you the best with your new toad! Thanks for sharing the problem you ran into, though I wish it hadn't happened in the first place.

RE: Did your dog influence your trailer purchase?

Between kids and dogs a King bed was/is a must.

RE: Is Desert Riding Season here yet?

LOL Dave, I gotcha now. I swear all the locals bar have a cranky barmaid - A former cranky barmaid works for me, heart of gold but a big side of attitude if you come at her wrong ;)

RE: Is Desert Riding Season here yet?

They have pretty epic burritos at The Joint if you ask nicely. I'm almost afraid to ask, what type of burritos you get if you don't ask nicely? Day old Taco Bell? ;)

RE: Using your motorhome to help fund a charity

Wow that had to be a lot of wine! Thanks for supporting the wineries in WA State and for helping out the charity. I used our Motorhome to help a Drum & Bugle Corps with a broken trailer, loaded up the entire brass line and took it to the next location. Didn't have a free spot to go to the bathroom, but all the instruments arrived and they put on a great show.

RE: Is GasBuddy any use at all now??

I was a big user of Gas Buddy for years, then they got to crazy with ads and pushing their subscription. Give Gas Guru a spin too, its less spammy I find. For me I usually search where at Costco is en route and aim for that.

RE: Oregon to charge 25% more for out of state RV campers

I really don't have a problem with it, I left Oregon for several reasons and still love to visit. But with an Income Tax in Oregon I'm much better off in Washington State (mostly). WA & Idaho both did the same thing by raising out of State rates, I don't like it but I understand why. The thing is the Oregon State campgrounds have not been as well maintained as they used to be, and it's really starting to show. They rely on the Oregon Lottery and state park user fee to pay for the parks. With various lock downs and limits on bars with video poker they are not bringing in the income. They need more income so they go after the tourist dollars which is the easy mark and locals don't mind. Sadly, they are not offering more value, just a price hike. Same parks that are showing neglect and fewer Rangers to deal with the problems. Plus, why pay to park at an Oregon Campground when you can just pull off on the side of the road overlooking the Ocean for free - saw a ton of it on our summer trip. Nobody seems to care.

RE: CA SMOG Testing: Anyone Have Trouble w/Non-CA Class A?

With all the catalytic converter thefts double check it's the original. The non-CARB compliant ones are close to 1/3 the price of a CARB compliant catalytic converter.

RE: Tow hall mode

I usually use it when I'm towing our boat/atvs/jeep, I also use it when I'm in the mountains even if I'm not towing. I also find it helpful if I'm in traffic and want a bit more stopping power to help with the people that pull in front of me.

RE: Ruined manual transmissions

Fifty4F100 this is a discussion forum. Forums are not going to always track 100% on topic. Clearly the answers here are not what you are seeking since you only wanted to hear from a very small audience that has actually had a problem to your specific question. With that I'm going to close this thread down. You might want to better understand the term 'Karen' and how it doesn't apply in this case. Closed.
