RE: Used RV Financing

USAA Federal Savings Bank got our loan done in four days, purchase complete in six days, which included us driving to The Villages to complete the deal. You just have to be qualified to use USAA...but it costs nothing to ask if you have a good FICO score. HTH

RE: Dura Shield Flex film failure

This work is scheduled to be complete tomorrow. I will report to this forum the end result with photos. Stay tuned. BTW the 7-year warranty on the 3M film will start when we drive away.

RE: Dura Shield Flex film failure

So here we are in Forest City, Iowa. CDI Custom Paint is standing by their work by stripping off the old DuraShield, repainting any damage, and replacing the DuraShield with new 3M film with a new -year warranty. They are not charging me for any of this. This re-defines customer service in my experience. Stunning. To cap it off, they are repainting the roof cap area on the sides where clear-coat has failed with Rhino coating.

Dura Shield Flex film failure

The paint "protection" film on the front of my rig failed over the last few months. It was fine until the end of May, and now my rig looks like it has green spot measles. Drat! Has anybody out there worked with Sharpline or Winnebago on this sort of problem?

still, you need to keep distilled water in the batteries.

RE: Ford v10 stalling in the first five minutes

It may be time to flash the PROM. 5-Star Tuning may have the solution.

RE: Lippert Slide system on winnebago adventurer 2014

The first two owners of my rig fought this battle with Winnebago and the extended warranty broker from the dealership. Eventually the Schwintek mechanisms were replaced by Powergear (which is owned by Lippert). I keep the rails lubricated with CRC with PFT as often as I can, but certainly whenever the rig has sit for a while. Those of us with full wall slides know the heart-stop of the wall not moving when activated. So far, mine has worked as advertised to retract and retry.

RE: Help in Purchasing Class A Motorhome

Shop hard, the deal y'all are looking for is out there. My experience has been to buy used, but carefully. After a few years, original owners have worked out the kinks in their new rigs, and taken the brunt of depreciation. We've been fortunate, as out first used rig was nine years old when we bought it, and we had it for 12 more years (ending when Hurricane Micheal dropped two pines on it). We found our second one, we are the third owners again, and all the systems were in excellent shape. As a veteran RV owner, you know what to look for. Now you need to add a little expertise on Class A engines and suspensions, and you're there. FWIW, we discovered our current rig on RV Traders. Hope this helps, and remember, this is fun!

RE: Chassis battery issue

I did two things with mine: 1) I changed out the wet chassis battery for AGM, and 2) I bought a Coleman AGM charger from Newegg for $20 and keep the chassis battery on it. The charger generally maintains about 12.8 volts on the battery. BTW - I stepped down from Group 31 house batteries for Group 29 with no degradation of power. HTH.

RE: F53 V10 Manifold Bolts

For 12 years we had a 97 Coachmen Catalina with the Ford 460, and at year 4 the stock passenger side exhaust manifold warped and spit off the rear two bolts. I found an aftermarket manifold by Dorman online for $110 for a replacement. The heads did not crack, and the broken studs came off with a simple easy-out. I now have something else to inspect (I stopped worrying with the new generation V10). The 460 did not use exhaust gaskets, but as I read this, the V10's do?

RE: Coach battery replacement

Well, I went the AGM route for the chassis battery, and I have found it to be robust going weeks without recharge. I did replace old group 31 lead-acid batteries with group 29 from O'Reilly's and have found them to work well. HTH

We're going to the Gulf Coast this coming weekend. One last hurrah before I start teaching again, albeit online.

RE: 2012 Winnebago Vista 35F

For the 2012 model year, take a look at the upholstery, because they used bonded leather on the furniture. It has a tendency to peel. If you see covers on the sofa and chairs in pictures, be very skeptical. HTH

RE: F53 brake master cylinder failure

I'm on my second F53 rig, and I have not heard of master cylinder failures before. Usually wheel cylinders will fail first, or the brake media will need to be replaced(rotors/pads). If the master cylinder were to fail, I'd expect you'd have a YIKES moment that would leave no doubt what had happened. Good luck working this out. I'll be curious to see what Ford has to say.

RE: slideouts not working

For my system, the PowerGear motors require that the coach be level, the batteries have at least 12.4 volts, and the engine be operating. Also, check your battery storage switch of ON or USE. HTH

RE: "Leather" coming apart and peeling

While shopping for an RV in 2018, we found a unit that was in the sweet spot for price and configuration. That was, until the photos the owner sent to us showed slip covers on all the furnishing. I asked specifically about bonded leather failure, and the owner waffled until I asked for photos without the slip covers. The sale site was deleted and I never heard from the gent again. Caveat empor indeed.

RE: What did you do to your Class A MH today???

I re-programmed the V10 PROM with a 5 Star Tuning gadget. The HP boost is remarkable, as are the new shift points and acceleration.

RE: Side mirror turn cameras

Take a look at the settings in the display. If the rear camera polarity is set to ground, it all acts pretty weirdly. Reset it to battery. Worked for me. HTH
