RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52167683241_cd48a3dff3_c.jpg Tesla Semi Megacharger I'm a little disappointed. No post from @Grit dog saying there is not enough ice plants in the US to supply the ccolant for these Tesla Semi Megacharger. And I guess he would be adding the prognosis that we have a severe drought out west and ensuing water shortage.;) I stopped holding my breath on making those Cybertruck body with just a "brake and shear".

I can't help with your confusion that you don't need to "stamp" a straight pieces of steel to put a straight bend in it. (Since you know I was talking only about the skin on the truck....) I tend not to argue against the methods and systems of a company who already made billions on what they've been doing. Saves me too from being grifted into investing to a fraudulent scheme by fake billionaire whose victims never learn. :R

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

@Grit dog's next question when the Semis are released and running: But why are the rims are not forged high grade aluminum? What makes you think they won't be and why would I care? Actually they will quite likely be, if fuel (electrons) economy is of any real concern. Comparably steel wheels will be heavier, some stupid unobtanium material would be wholly unpractical, and general rule of thumb, every lb of rotating mass reduced is roughly equivalent to 7lbs of static mass removed. So why do you not think they will be aluminum, or more directly, what do you think they will be or should be made of? ($100 bet to the first person to take me up on it, that neither Sam nor the rest of the tools in the bag will have any sort of cognizant answer, response or input.....) Nah, my money is already on the previous dare that you cannot cast a rocket ship metal similar to what will be used in Cybertruck with just a "brake and a shear".:B:?:S:h

You could have stopped at quoting just this much of my post... "While it's obvious that you are able to produce words and not substance," Since the rest apparently of no interest and it sounded like Charlie Brown's teacher to you and you're more of a rely on magic and marketing rather than facts and engineering kinda guy! Cheers man! Hope the Cyber truck is all you hoped it would be and a bag of chips if you ever get one! Seriously. No ill will meant. I understand it's hard for some to be realists. Cheers, none taken and no malice on my words too! Just campfire bantering among friends I suppose. Yup, there should be a balance though between being a dreamer, realist and cynics. Disccovers, however, are made by dreamers and I don't want to be waking up in the morning thinking of how bad the world gonna be and seeing dark clouds instead of it's silver linings, lol.

@8..1 Van - can you point to us where we can apply @Grit dog's "brake and shear' in lieu of that multi-million press that should approximate building the Cybertruck into garage-built Pinewood Derby Car. Seems he is not quitting anytime soon and thought we're stupid to be diverted into a red herring, sorry, don't know where he was going into that kilometric post -- when caught with the pants down.

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

and that totally puzzles me, pretending knowledge of casting and advanced materials when you'll later admit to being foreign on the topic and just did remedial engineering, lol. Oh yeah, I am still waiting for that truck with skin of made of material similar to rocket ship. If it turns out to be just like waiting for Godot, that's just $100 parked there somewhere idle and worth the admission fee for dreamin' the "best truck you'll ever own". While it's obvious that you are able to produce words and not substance, let's break it down. First, "remedial" engineering. My point being, when designing a vehicle, fuel efficiency is generally at the forefront of non working passenger vehicles .... You could have saved your breath, and the forum's bandwidth by proving your boast that you can do a Cybertruck body with a "brake and shear'. But I'm the last person to tell people what to do and where to waste their time, so you go ahead. You could have even make me read it (even with my impatience for blowhards and luddites (not mine but I'm owning it) plus my very short attention span.:S

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

Naw, man, I just call'em like I see 'em. Heck you could be right. But the concept of almost 1/8" thick steel body panels on ANY vehicle, save for one that is armored up, is totally foreign to me and goes against any remedial engineering calculations that I have to believe didn't fly out the window when designing a vehicle for any sort of efficiency. You seen a Cyber truck where the door skins feel like the side of a dump truck box? I'll presume you, the Frenchradical and 8.1 will just keep the smoke produced in your dreams of owning a stainless steel splitting wedge on wheels! and that totally puzzles me, pretending knowledge of casting and advanced materials when you'll later admit to being foreign on the topic and just did remedial engineering, lol. I want someone who wants to play Hullk to show us how he can cast a 3mm stainless steel panel nearly 20 feet long with a brake and shear.:) Or, he can use several brakes and, surely, he only needs one shear -- and he can take as long as he wants to cut it into shape of the Cybertruck or Pinewood Derby Car if he wants to simplify it.:B Youre dealing w Ludites here. Dont expect inteligent answers. Only FUD Awww not you too… First Yosemite, then 8.1, now you? Man at least Reisender owns a Tesla. Heck he even tows his camper with it. And is knowledgeable and contributory in a positive sense. (Actually he’s a pioneer of sorts in the EV/RV game, while you clowns just manifest as wanna be’s) Lessons learned, somebody might call you out on your bs.:B And like @free radical, give you a personality profile from the pattern of your previous and present posts.:p

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52132813588_2037a94521_c.jpg Elon Musk says the Cybertruck will be Tesla’s ‘best product ever’ Still waiting with not definite production date and Elon is running out of next year. Or Musk is simply busy yapping and starting a fight with somebody who also have several zeros on the wallets. Now he is becoming paranoid claiming the CIA is watching him. His appointment to his shrink must be overdue for Aspergers syndrome manifested by his extreme narcissism and now paranoid delusions (previously just delusions of grandeur).:E I'm just hoping he first manufacture and release my Cybertrucck before he gets institutionalized .:B Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.. My all millennial kids love it. The boomers in the family said it's ugly. The looks is growing on me specially if I can add the 50 cal machine gun on top when I go to Texas.

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

Anybody else read the article where Tesla asked the Feds for a piece of the Infrastructure money for chargers? They want it specifically for building the network for Semis. Anybody remember at the unveil how Elon (fat Jesus) said they will build the network and provide power at like .03 a kw? I believe they will have a piece of it. But maybe with a condition that they'll make the charging stations accessible to the public, not just Tesla owners. But I would prefer that somebody call Elon's claim that he can provide solar energy to the whole country if someone will provide him a 100x100 miller of land to put up the solar panels.

Don’t worry the first year is already sold. Can’t buy one no matter what the functionality is for this model year. True dat! Ford stopped taking reservations and orders for F150 Lightning currently. But I can sell mine, lol. Or, I will be a ready seller in case I want to keep the Cybertruck and sell the F150.:W

RE: Ford F150 Lightning Started Deliveries

Did it say, How much power this thing is "Supposed" to be able to provide ? 9.7 kwH 580 hp 775 pounds-feet of torque 320 mile range (extended, for Lariat) To get the 9.7 you have to get either Lariat or Platinum Trim. 9.7 is nothing when it comes to powering a house. You can run a mid sized AC and a fridge at the same time, maybe charge a phone. Oh whoopee. Lariat starts at $67,474.00 and Platinum at $90,874.00 MSRP, and that's without any type of dealer "market adjustment". A lot of coin for a 1/2 ton truck you can not even get until 2023 maybe unless you're already on the list, that can half arse power your house, and if you rack up a lot of miles what is the battery lifespan? The overall truck probably has an overall lifespan of 8-10 years max with a lot of use, maybe less if you're in the rustbelt. I can buy a 48KW natural gas powered generator, and all the other needed equipment, which can power everything in a house with a 200 amp service, for less than $25,000.00 installed. A setup that will still be sitting waiting to go when needed 20-30 years after it's installed and not be a depreciated rusted out chunk of steel and plastic sitting in some scrap yard. Yeah, but can you use your generator to haul horse **** from Lowes to fertilize your gardens? What's thee matter with you pips? Hitting the comments section before you Monday morning coffee.:h The whole point is that F150 Lightning had this extra in a breakthrough creative thinking. And imagine how many deaths been prevented had they have this in their garage in Texas during the states deep freeze. Of course, it's not cheaper than going to Cancun but if you have an RV, California can be a cheaper escape.:W

RE: Ford F150 Lightning Started Deliveries

Not a few got their units this week. It is advertised to be able to be a back up power source to a house in case of black out. It goes without saying, therefore, that you don't need a generator nor shore power in a campsite. Had inquiries on whether there is already truck campers customized for F150 Lightning where electric connections are in the cab and supply to the camper had to be specifically designed or hard wired. For RVs, seems no problem with an adaptor. Not sure, not sure... until true-to=life experience and reviews comes out from campers. Your perception (dream) of what you’re talking about is not indicative of the top 2% IQ you claim to have. That is all. You may be lost dude. That rejoinder should have been in the Rivian thread.:o

^Only person I know who’s had an actual IQ test. (Or the rest who have are too embarrassed to say or too polite to brag about it…lol) I also can't recall why I volunteered to this research, academic and career counseling exercise. But I'm glad I did. Otherwise, I would have followed the career path of my other siblings into engineering or rocket science, lol, because of the math dominant brain of my dad who taught college physics. it actually found out I have an undisciplined mind not made for rote learning and the progressive steps in doing long calculations and computations.

RE: Rivan truck tow vehicle

First battery was made by the Parthians around 250 BC. The first rockets were by the Chinese around 1000 AD. Of course, the time frames for both suggest the idea that because "you want it more", doesn't mean it will suddenly happen in the next 5yrs. And even if there is a major break thru, putting it into production can easily take another 20yrs and reaching mass market penetration can be another 20yrs. Me thinks pips are missing the point here. My posit is that discoveries, science and tech developments are not just linear and can flat line or go exponential as society saw opportunity or had to address a looming crisis, ie, the short development cycle for Covid vaccine which typically takes a decade, computers, iPhone, EVs, sola/allternativer energy.

RE: Rivan truck tow vehicle

My point is you're a little slow and need an education... . Take a deep breath and calm down dude. No need to insult my intelligence and eduction. You may have a high education, but you can do math, correlation and ratio-proportion?:? Ok, do the math here First electric car, 1890. After aa hiatus, battery operated car, 1997. How many years in between is that? First concept of rocket propulsion 200 BC. First rocket out into orbit, 1957. How many years is that, err, centuries. So whose faster in development? Never mind the term "leaps and bounds" which seems to put your panty into a wad.:o And by the way, as to education, I have post-graduate units. As to professional accomplishments I was executive of multinational-global company. As to intelligence, it was measured that my IQ is in the top 2% of all of the people in the world.:W But I admit, my only knowledge of electricity is limited to electric fan (cleaning it), electric shaver (where I can change it's battery and know if it's already weak). And electric chair, that I want to add to my array of home furnitures.:E

RE: Rivan truck tow vehicle

What's your point pips? First rocket principles was 200 BC. First rocket to go outside of earth atmosphere was 1957. And in a little more than a decade we were able to send men to land on the moon (well, except for you pips who thought it was staged).:R
