RE: dry docking and charging

Are you running the batteries all the way down? It will take longer to get them back to full charge If you fully discharge them. I’d run the generator a little more frequently than 5 days to top them off more effectively.

Water pump runs but no water pressure

Posting this here in case it helps someone else with a similar issue. On our last outing we found the water pump didn’t work en route...could hear the pump running but no pressure. Luckily we had water hookup at our destination so it wasn’t a huge issue. One of the faucets had a sediment clog That I cleared on the same trip so I thought the pump might be clogged as well. Today I had a chance to troubleshoot and fixed it...half the time was spent accessing the water pump since Forest River decided to install it behind our fireplace. After clearing the screen filter of the little bit of sediment and confirming all the lines were fine I took the pump apart since I’ve read before that sediment and other debris inside the pump can affect performance. There was a spring loaded check valve (I assume that’s what it is) stuck in the closed position so water would not flow through the pump. After freeing the valve and re-assembling the pump everything works fine.

RE: Camper Bedding

Depends on length of trip and our activities...last trip was a short weekend with no campfire and nothing terribly active besides a short hike. We left the sheets on the bed. Longer trips or if it seems “dirtier” like campfire or if I’m on a hunting trip with a lot of hiking and activity we strip the sheets. We have a bin that we keep the trailer towels and linens ready to got back in the trailer for the next trip.

RE: 12v usb in wall charging socket installation?

Can you tap into wiring to a lighting circuit? Most are protected by a 15 amp fuse, so use #14 wire. Okay now that I am digging around, ^this^ got me thinking with an 'ahh ha'! The Furion radio/dvd player is in the wall console under the TV and right where I want the socket. Can I just tap into that 12v line with a wire run of less than two feet? Its a 15a fuse. I guess I should check the radio manual to see how many amps it draws first? It doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the proper way to do it or rated properly, but this is exactly what I did in our old trailer...tapped into the radio power wire to install USB jack nearby. New trailer has a ton of USB jacks...I guess that’s a premium addition to trailers now.

RE: How to I Set up my Portable Solar Panel

Pretty sure I have the same outlet on my trailer...I found this plug that fits it. You might be able to use this with whatever panel you decide to use. Amazon link

RE: Tucson to Show Low

I enjoy that drive...even towing it’s enjoyable. You’ll be fine with your rig...I’ve seen some underpowered folks overheat in the summer heat though.

RE: first time sanitize fresh water tanks

Be sure to open a hot faucet before removing the water heater plug. There could be a lot of pressure there if you don't open a faucet first. You can also open the pressure relief valve on the water heater. Been there, done that and took a blast of hot water to the gut from a pressurized tank. Also, if your tank has a little on/off toggle switch for electric on the tank itself, make sure that’s turned off before draining so you don’t burn out your element.

RE: Arizona RV licensing

AZ vehicle and RV registration cost is ridiculous....a large part of that is a tax on the value of the vehicle/RV. Only good thing is it’s deductible on income tax, but I’d rather not pay it in the first place.

RE: Money from government

Local Tucson news said some payments had already been received here. I haven’t heard from anyone specifically though.

RE: Questions on using a Dutch Oven

+1 on the charcoal chimney and lid lifter. I got a pair of heavy duty gloves too that helps. I haven’t done a lot besides cobblers in mine recently but when I was a kid we did a lot of baking in them on camping trips...pizza, biscuits, cinnamon rolls...

RE: riding nose high

I had an issue with tire clearance on my 5er and it also rode nose high...Forest River’s solution to address the clearance was to install a Lippert Correct Track which added about 2” lift. Resolved the clearance issue and rides a lot more level now. And I can adjust the tow in alignment a lot better too.
