RE: Ditching Dometic Thermostat?

RE: Ditching Dometic Thermostat?

Just changed mine yesterday. Honeywell rth2300/rth221. I got the programmable because it has back light. Don't need to program. you only use 4 wires. Youtube is your friend. $24.00 at HD.Y

RE: Help identifying wires, please

I have 3 white wires coming from the junction box under my camper. They transition into a black wire that ends in a ring terminal. I have no idea where this wire goes. I don't know if it's a ground or positive, if it's trailer brakes, or what. The previous owner has apparently engaged in some redneck engineering. I'm including a link to a picture, since I can't figure out how to post a pic. If anyone can help identify these wires, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks. Try to rephrase your description. You say 3 white wires coming from a J box. What is coming in and out of this j box? What are they hooked to in this J box? Are all three and the black wire hooked to a ring terminal? Where is this ring terminal? If black and white, black is positive. If black and red, Red is positive. Are we talking 120 volts or 12 volts. Is this romex wiring or single strand wire? Not enought info.

RE: Grey water pump into portable waste tank

We are going camping in a few weeks in a state park in Colorado. We have been there many times and there are no full hook ups, only electric and we take a portable waste tank that we pull to the dump station. It is actually quite a drive, hilly and has speed bumps to get to the dump station, but it works if you're really carefull. This year I dont know if the showers will be open when we go or if they are, if we feel comfortable using them. I was thinking about putting the waste tank in the back of the truck and then pump the grey water into it. The macerator pumps seem to need a water connection and would only generate more waste. Any recommendations for a similar pump that could pump it perhaps 4 feet up into the back of a truck and 25-30 ft distance wise? Macerator pump does not need a water supply and does not create any create any more waste. It is built to do exactly what you want it do do. It does have a hose connection for washout but I do not think anyone uses it. I just bought one to hook up this year that will pump 50' horizonal distance and 5' vertical distance to dump my black tank. I can run gray on the ground where I stay. Google is your friend' $219.00. Mine pump thru a standard Garden hose.

RE: Newbie

Hi All, First time RV owner 2010 Adventurer 80GS (used) I have a few questions about the operation of the camper, especially the toilet and holding tanks. I have no idea how to operate the toilet. There is a grey handle at the right back side which flushes the bowl. But the water remains in the bowl and I dont know how to open the metal plate at the bottom of the bowl to let the contents drain into the tank. I don't see any other handle anywhere on the toilet. Also, how to use the sewer dumping system? I would have posted a pic but don't know how to in this forum. There is a big black hose outlet and two big black valves on either side. In addition, there are two small white valves on the left side and 1 small white valve on the right side. What are the functions of all these valves. Any help is immensely appreciated as I am exhausted trying to find demo vidoes on youtube.

RE: electrical issue

Actually 50 amp service delivers 6000 watts of power, not 12,000 watts. If your rig is equipped with two A/Cs, your shore line power plug should be only compatible with 50 amp service which will run your two A/Cs. 50 amp service is 120/240 volts. 12,000 watts. And that's the way it is!

RE: 2007 Heartland Trailrunner Battery Drain / Reverse Polarity

Battery disconnect does NOT completely disconnect the battery, LP,CO, radio stay on. We can not see the picture. Wh would have a red light. Pump would have a red light. Don't know what switch your talking about but it can not revers polarity on 12 volt or 120 volts.

RE: Norcold N611RT not cooling in either AC and LP modes.

When in Gas mode the Auto switch must be OFF to run on Gas if you are plugged into shore power, the fridge will seek AC power if is available. Check your 120 breaker labeled Refrigerator. Even on AC the fridge uses 12 volts for control circuit and light. That's why you have yellow and green lights. Do you have power at the back side outlet?

RE: Dogs allowed in camping world

Seems that dogs are allowed in any store these days. I saw a Pit Bull in a Walmart Market Place last week. Someone will get bit sued and it will go back to the old days of "Service Dogs only".

RE: Norcold N300 won't stay lit

Is the electric AUTO switch off. When plugged into shore power it must be off to run on gas or the fridge will auto select AC if it is available.

RE: Generator wattage

Still sorting this camper out. I have about 30 days before I have to return this generator. I tried to run my shop vac too which overloaded the generator. It seems I ought to look for a 2000 watt generator to replace this one with as this must be too lite. The fridge needs to be sorted out. It runs fine on shore power. When I hit the gas switch, it doesn't illuminate to indicate gas is going to the unit. I would like to get it working and that is on the list. It's a norcold 442 I believe and is a 2 way fridge. If your trying to run gas while hooked to shore power you must turn the AUTO switch OFF. If Auto is on the fridge will always connect to shore power if it is available.

RE: Backing that trailer into a tight campsite..

I think I do everything pretty well with the travel trailer. But, backing into a tight campsite sometimes just stresses me out. In September we went down the the beach and that was the tightest spot I have ever tried to get into. I managed it with the help of a neighbor. This last week we were down at the beach again, fairly tight spot, I ht it pretty much the first time. I spoke with the guy that hauls trailers back and forth to campsites. He said that there's no perfect. He said he picks a spot on the ground as his pivot point. He comes in at an angle and when that spot is between the trailer axles he "jack-knives" the trailer into the spot where he wants it. Nevertheless, backing 30 feet of trailer can be stressful. Any tricks or pointers you use? Always back to the drives side. Once you have gotten out and looked at the passenger side and the rear to be sure it will fit, Nothing is gonna jump out in your way. Keep the driver side tight to any obsicales and park it.
