RE: Very Frustrated

Take the battery back and have it load tested. Then start with a multimeter.

RE: Gone through 5 water pumps in 2015 cedar creek

I'm in the freezing camp. Pump in antifreeze and the problem goes away.

RE: Electrical Short Under Sink on 2019 1062 Lance

look under the slide. You will find a junction box where the 120 AC romex wire meets a flexible conduit to go into the slide. You need to replace the wire that is in the flexible conduit. Both ends of that conduit are accessible. One end in the j-box and the other is at a receptacle or another or piece of equipment.

I think you pretty much answered your own question.

RE: Installed new charger, batteries not charging

There are 2 reverse polarity fuses in the converter for the battery. There is an inline resettable fuse within 6' of the battery. The battery disconnect switch must be "IN-use". Stop replacing parts. Buy a multimeter and learn how to use it. YouTube is your friend. You can not fix electricity without a multimeter.

RE: Fifth Wheel Purchase

My wife and I are looking for a fifth wheel we can pull with our 2020 Ram 1500 crew cab... 5.8 eTorque, 4x4 with 3.90 gear... supposedly can pull close to 12K. We have been looking at the Keystone Cougar Half-Ton 25RES and the Jayco Eagle HT 24RE... somewhat similar in floorplan that we like, and keeping the price under $40K. Have not really looked much elsewhere, but would be open to suggestions. I did not want to post this in one of the brand forums because it might not be fair to one brand over the other. I was unable to find out much about how the Keystone is built, but Jayco puts a good bit of info on their site about the features of their units. I like the idea of the Nev-R-Adjust® Brakes that the Jayco has... their Laminated Wall Construction... ClimateShield... and the fully enclosed and heated underbelly. Keystone may have similar features, but apparently not as advertised, with the exception of ClimateGuard. The reviews are somewhat of a "wow"... could not believe all the poor reviews I am reading of both brands. There does seem to be more poor reviews for Keystone than Jayco, although it seems like each have their share of issues. Curious if anyone has these particular units, or maybe if I can simply hear from owners of these brands and/or models. No offense, but not knowing what participation and ownership of these models is like in the various RV forums, you may see this cross posted in another forum. Just change the blubs. Auto parts have replacements.

RE: How to test rv converter?

OK by checking battery voltage you have verified no converter power getting to the battery. Most likely the converter is dead. You may as well remove it for a bench test. Yes you are looking for about 13.6 volts output any time it is powered up. Don't replace it with a WFCO. Do not have to remove it. Just disconnect the output wires. Turn on the converter and measure the empty output lugs. Not rocket science.

RE: Is my converter dead?

OP says he gets 12v with the new battery so the "battery fuse/CB" must be ok. you must separate the battery from the converter. Otherwise, we don't know if he is measuring the battery voltage or the converter voltage.

RE: Is my converter dead?

The fridge runs on GAS/120 and 12 volts. 12 volts is the control circuit and the light. Remove the 12-volt output from the converter. Measure the output voltage. There are 2 "reverse polarity" fuses on the converter. There is an inline resettable fuse within 6'of the battery.

RE: Dometic RM2652 refrigerator dead

Gas/electric fridge requires 120 and 12 volts to operate. 120 is for the electric heating element. Gas is for the gs heating burner. 12 volts is for the control circuit for both. If the interior light is out you have cost 12-volt control power. Time for an RV tech.

RE: Battery switch

There are electronic systems inside the RV that are constantly running, example, smoke alarm and detectors. And if the RV is on a very long storage, it will drain your battery. That switch is supposed to shut off all those electronic systems when you turn it off. the parasitic drains from the CO, LP, stereo are NOT on the disconnect switch. You need a separate battery disconnect to do that.

RE: Problem with outside taps in my Cougar 5th

try a 2nd hose. the male end may be defective on cheaper hoses. You need a white RV potable hose anyway.

RE: 10/3 Wire split

Just the wire insulation is missing about 2mm. The copper is undamaged. The outside jacket I have peeled back to see how bad it was. If only the outer jacket is cut, tape it up and apply a coating such as 3M Scotchcoat. If conductor insulation is damaged, replace it completely. Wire should be 10/2 with ground, not 10/3! Full agreement Tape and seal or even just seal Lots of products out there good for this like Flex Seal or GOOP (Power off while sealing) Also is the cut just in the OUTER jacket or is the wire itself exposed. IS the wire cut? If wire cut then splice properly if not just seal it up. That being the case just tape up with 3M Electric And go have a beer.! The tape is good to over 600 volts.

RE: 10/3 Wire split

In the Romex world there is 10/2, 10/3 plane, and 10/3 with ground. 50-year master electrician here.
