RE: Extended run, homemade or store bought?

We built our own for a fraction of the cost of the premade units. We explain how-to here. Those that can't get it to work aren't taking care to be sure everything is sealed properly so there are no air leaks. It's an easy project and ours lasted for a very long time under adverse conditions. Chuck

RE: Good Sam Insurance is harrassing me

They are major spammers and use every trick in the spammer's book. Get a good call blocker from your phone's app store. They will change the number once you block one, so you will just have to keep up with blocking the different numbers. It worked for me. After more than a year, I have the calls down to about once a week. Chuck

RE: Directv access card

Rather than do nothing, call DirecTV and ask them if this is legit and ask them why? Chuck

RE: North thru/around Wasington DC

You really need to plan...running West 64 and North on 81 will add a lot of time and miles If that is a concern... If you have NO SCHEDULE, go that way. OR Just north of Richmond hop onto 301.. 301 N to 301 N/50 E .. cross the Bay Bridge... 301 N to Rt 1 North and back on 95 at Wilmington DE After moving from Maryland to Florida, we make this trip often. We NEVER go through the northern Virginia, DC area, unless it's 3 A.M. on a Sunday morning, and even then... We use the 301 route except we connect to 97 and rejoin 95 at the Baltimore Beltway. More stops for traffic lights but well with it. Also, lots of opportunity for fuel stops and food if needed.

RE: tested the blue camco filter with a TDS meter

My wife and I lived on our boat and traveled extensively all over the waters of the U.S., the Caribbean, Bahamas, and Central America. Our water came from wells, cisterns, and municipal water supplies. We only used sediment filters and we drank the water, washed, and cook with it. We have never been sick or had any ill effects from the water. We do the same with our RV and have traveled all over the U.S, and parts of Canada. We have never seen folks more obsessed with water issues than we have with RV folks. I'm not sure what everyone is so afraid will happen, but everyone has to do what makes them comfortable. For us, there are plenty of other issues to perseverate over. You have no idea or control over the filtration process of the bottling process in bottled water. Plus the pollution index for plastic bottles is off the charts. But that's really not something to be concerned about. Chuck Here's a good article, IS YOUR BOTTLED WATER WORTH IT?: HOW BOTTLED WATER IS TREATED And here is more for you bottled water fans, Bottled Water vs. Tap Water

RE: If getting 'Service Temporarily Unavailable!'

How about just fixing the problem on your end. Until it gets resolved I am done here. It's just too much of a nuisance. Chuck

RE: Time to replace windshield /side curtains

Each of my front curtains is about 8 feet wide. Without pleats, I doubt they can be pushed far enough back to not cover the side window while we are driving. Chuck

RE: Dish/Direct TV is going Bye Bye Millions soon to Disconnect

We also need to consider that satellite internet has been notoriously poor. Low bandwidth, very slow, frequent weather issues just when you need it, and very expensive for what you get. Too many unanswered questions to think this is going to be the answer to everyone's prayers. Chuck

RE: Dish/Direct TV is going Bye Bye Millions soon to Disconnect

12 months dish/direct TV will be asking for a bail out from our government.. Don't invest in a fancy satellite dish for your RV, it will be useless soon.. 4 Brilliant Uses for an old SATELLITE DISH! 12 months and counting... :p Do us all a favor and wait 12 months and then come can and tell us how it worked out. You have been preaching this for as long as I have been a member of this forum. As a matter of fact, I can't recall you posting about anything else which leads me to believe you have an agenda. Chuck

RE: Winegard SensarPro wall plate problem

Good to hear. I had the same issue and eliminated the connection where the coax goes through the roof. I used the old coax to pull a new single coax from the wall plate to the antenna head. What a difference it made. This will only work if there is nothing wrapped around the coax to secure it to other wiring. Chuck

I have had to replace 2 of these that went bad. The third is working so far for the past year. Chuck

RE: The Coronavirus

I believe everyone, and I do mean everyone, should quarantine themselves for at the very least the next two years. all campgrounds, national parks, and tourist attractions will be very dangerous until then. I have seen confirmation of this on the news and on the internet. Chuck

RE: Really scary incident tonight - almost lost my tow!

Thanks for all the replies - appreciate the concern. I've been towing - pop-up and now my car - for years, first time anything like this has happened. A little unnerving! I'm also trying to figure out why the NSA (NOT Blue Ox as stated above) safety cable broke - my car is about 3300lbs and the cables are each rated for 4000lbs, I think... NSA safety cables I will definitely make a hitch pin change and will find a way to lock it up. This one was purchased at either Home Depot or WalMart - don't remember the specific brand. Appreciate the suggestions! While your car may weigh 3300 lbs, the stress on those cables will exceed that easily under the right circumstances. Chuck
