RE: I had an osh-t moment and now looking for replacement

I cannot make suggestion since my past campers were all hardside. Am only responding to hope that no one was hurt and perhaps someday you will enlighten us as to what happened. Folks might be able to take away from your mishap so that they will not do the same thing.

RE: Jayco 8ft sportsman. Confused on battery setup/boondocking

I am sure others will chime in but... One site that I turn to when I need to deal with RV electricity is the 12 Volt Side of Life... it is a great resource. Perhaps you might find it useful: The 12volt Side of Life (Part 1). The 12 volt Side of Life Part 2. Also- for posting images, this site is a lot different in that aspect compared to other forums. Click on THIS LINK to generate a string to paste into these forums.

RE: TCM (Truck Camper Magazine)

I had the same problem when some how I accidentally unsubscribed... this was some time ago. I spoke with Angela a few years ago about it and she indicated if I had an email from the website that I could use that as a portal of sorts to properly re-activate a subscribed status. I may not be wording properly the way I did it, but I know what you mean. If you have an old archive notification from TCM, dig it up and look to see if there are options.

RE: Full hook up?

I rarely ever paid for a camping spot with any type of utilities. A few times there was E&W but never sewer. That said, if I ever did have full hook-ups I might have used the water to fill the grey and black tanks on the first day and do a good flushing of any floaters. Then close the valves and use normally throughout the stay and then repeat before leaving the site. Essentially, full hook-ups are akin to having a dump station at one's site without the hassle of an actual dump station so why not utilize it. It's paid for, why not take advantage of it.

RE: Chicken Before Egg?

True story: I like to be creative in my cooking and experiment a lot. Many times the previous night's meal can and will end up as part the next mornings brunch. Steak & eggs, pork chops & eggs, etc... One Saturday evening I prepared a smoked chicken and had leftovers for which I intended to make chicken and waffles the next day. Well, I did not have all the ingredients to make waffles and called an audible to switch to omelets. As I stood at the stove having a go at it, I instantly thought of the philosophical dichotomy, ingredients in hand, as befuddlement cross over me: What do I put in the pan first, the chicken or the egg? This was some years ago and methinks I ended up pouring another mimosa, never making brunch as I contemplated the dilemma drinking well into the afternoon.

RE: A Very Touching Movie

A movie that I recommend is "Taking Chance." Is is based on the true story, staring Kevin Bacon, of escorting fallen Marine PFC Chance Phelps on his last journey home to his birthplace in Wyoming. Very dignified movie and as a Marine, even tougher to watch.

RE: Torklift camper tie down width question

As far as width (i.e. telescoping of the tubes within each other), I set my up such that it did not touch the tuck body when attaching the Fastguns. IIRC, the rear ones were on the "narrow" setting and the front TL's were on the wider holes. on edit: I would think that the narrowest setting is best setup if you can fit it w/o hitting the bed sides.

RE: 2005 Lance 845

You'll need a F450 or F500 to haul the TC. (J/K .... LOL) :) Just kidding... Grit has some good comments.

RE: A Very Touching Movie

Just read that Ned Beatty passed away today... ...happened to re-watch "Rudy" yesterday. I tend to like fact based or movies based on true stories. Beatty played the father in that movie.

RE: Armchair Quarterbacks Unite! Stupid Stuff We've all Done...

Thanks for posting that video link... Anytime that another person can learn from ones mistake and that person is able to avoid it in their situation then it is a good. I started a topic a few years ago about LEANING FROM OTHERS' MISTAKES. Your posted video and that thread would do noobs a world of good.

RE: Repo a Truck Camper???

...~snip~ I simply asked CAN THEY REPO IT? ...~snip~... Yes, it can be repo'd. I purchased a repo'd camper about 10 yeas ago. The bank took it back and they wholesaled it to a company that is an RV retailer. It was a private company (unlike the larger RV dealers.) In my case, it was a 2 year old camper that still had value as it was in brand new condition (as in never used.) With the options it had on it, I paid less than half off of what a similar model of current years was going for.

RE: Repo a Truck Camper???

Respectfully, Suck it up, buttercup. You signed on the dotted line. Life 'aint no dress rehearsal. Live up to your obligations... the self-pride of doing so will make it (and you) better in the long run.

RE: Could the weather get any more miserable?

While not as nice a the calendar would insinuate, I was able to enjoy the long weekend getting woodwork done in between bouts of rain and snow. The afternoon now is nice and sunny to enjoy a drink and recollect on fallen comrades for which we honor on this day. We must not forget the fallen heroes for which we are able to gather, drink and eat with family and friends on this Memorial Day.

RE: A Very Touching Movie

Thank you for the recommendation- just finished watching it. Very touching story, we need more movies like that instead of the filth that comes out of hollywood. BTW- it is also available on amazon prime. Another good movie if you get the chance is "Mr. Church." It stars Eddy Murphy in a role that you would not expect from him. I saw it on amazon prime as well.

RE: TCs, Ham Radio and Kids

Would have loved to have set up a portable station when I had my TC. Sold the camper due to the fixer-upper house needing weekend attention... ...maybe when it is in a further state of repair I can get the home shack up and running more. 73s, W2OKJ

RE: Question about a Ford F 350 Drw

Here’s my speculation: In a high level meeting of Ford executives, probably in 2009 or so, the executive responsible for the medium duty truck line (who’s annual bonus is directly tied to the # of units sold) went nose to nose with the executive responsible for the light truck line (whose annual bonus is directly tied to the number of units sold), and screamed in his/her face “WTH are you doing to me! Your F450 pickup is stealing sales from my F450 cab and chassis trucks! My bonus just got cut again, and I’ve got mansion payments, boat payments, condo payments, college tuition, and hair salon payments to make!” After the 2010 model year, the F450 pickup never again had a GVWR higher than 14K. THAT’S why it’s 14K. :):) I agree with your premises with one exception.... forgot "mistress payments." LOL.
