RE: Page AZ to Flagstaff

OP here, thanks guys for the advice. We took "89T" this morning back to Flagstaff and beyond, in spite of the horrendous winds! If it wasn't for the wind it would've been a very pleasant trip. 89 T is pretty much straight, some curves but nothing to get excited about, I would defiantly go that way again! I can better understand why Google would route someone on it. It's smoother than 89, that's for sure! The twenty mile "rough road" roller coaster section is a real "treat"! Dan

Page AZ to Flagstaff

Looking for some information, we're in PageAZ and leaving soon for Winslow. The question I have, is taking Hwy 20 out of Page through Lechee a mistake with a 40' fifth wheel? Google had us "routed" that way on the way up here but opted for staying on 89 through "the cut" south of Page. Not sure about this road and I would appreciate any info on this route. The manager here at the campground said it's very doable with our rig but I'm not convinced. Thanks in advance. Dan

RE: Grand Junction to Denver in early to mid April

Thank you all for the information! We've scrapped the idea of going up through Moab and east through Colorado entirely. Too many negatives, it's just easier to migrate east via the southern route. :W Dan

RE: Grand Junction to Denver in early to mid April

Thank you for the feed back. Not only weather related issues but availability too! :E We had NO idea about Jeep week. Sounds like a "Sturgis" thing or in Milwaukee during "Harley Fest" This summer's the 120th, it'll be nuts (and LOUD). :B Dan B.

Grand Junction to Denver in early to mid April

We're going to be in Monument Valley the first of April, from there we're considering going north to Moab and then up to I-70 and across to Denver. What is 70 usually like that time of year? We've been through the area a couple times, most recently last August we were in Glenwood Springs coming from Fort Collins and went through the mountains no problem. I don't own tire chains and have NO desire to have to use them going forward. :R Avoid I-70 in mid April or not?? Thanks in advance for your opinions. :C Dan B.

RE: Verizon or T-Mobile

We've been on the T Mobile "55 plus" plan for about 6 years now. We're very happy with the service, we do experience weak spots from time to time but for the most part it's worked good for us! 55 plus with T Mobile costs us $70/mo all in, NO extra fees. 50 gigs of data each phone, unlimited texts and unlimited talk. I now have a 5G capable phone and their 5G service is available in LOTS of areas. Love it! :B On a side note, we just got T Mobile's 5G Home Internet gateway a week ago. Where we are right now (NO WIFI supplied) we had to do something or "burn up" your data on our phones. We decided to try the Home Internet, so far the gateway is working GREAT! :C Dan

RE: Memphis Bound looking for RV park

I third the motion for EZ Daze. We stay there on our way to Florida, never a disappointment! Very well run and clean not far from Graceland but downtown is a bit of a drive but easy to do. Check out Memphis BBQ Company, good stuff there. :B Dan

RE: Winter in Arizona...

We passed through your neighborhood yesterday, beautiful. Lots of snow! We’ve been through your area several times and it’s such a treat driving 260 into Payson! Just awesome. But it’s even better pulling into Mesa and it being in the 60’s! :B We had a “cooler than anticipated” trip but we’re in the warmth and sun and we’re happy. Dan

RE: Winter in Arizona...

Looks beautiful! We'll be coming through Payson in about a week and a half, on our way to Mesa. Looks like what we have here in Wisconsin! :B Enjoy! BTW you live in an AWESOME area!! :) Dan

RE: North or Northwest of Milwaukee and points north

I know you mentioned north and west but Cliffside in Racine is very nice and quiet and would meet your requirements. If traveling north towards the UP, you could take in the "experience" at Lambeau. :B There are lots of choices up around the GB area. Manitowoc has a world II submarine you could tour and the UP is just loaded with beauty! Our favorite place to be in September! The colors in fall are unreal! It's a beautiful area to visit almost any time of year. Marquette (MI) so far this year has 120" of snow recorded! :E The summers in the UP are awesome if you can tolerate the black flies! Dan

RE: Iowa to Mesa,AZ- I40 or the "southern route" with 5th wheel

We're headed from Milwaukee to Mesa starting on the 26th of this month. We've done this route a few times, always successful. The key is to pay attention to the weather! So far you could say we're "lucky" but never had any serious issues weather-wise. Two years ago we postponed our trip by about two weeks due to the freeze that took place in southern the states. Arriving in OKC that year aprox. half the RV park we stayed in sustained water line damage to almost half their park, so weather is for sure a real concern/danger! Just have to be aware and adjust for the weather, a few "weather" days planned into the trip is the practice we observe. YMMV Good luck with your trip! :B Dan

RE: Winter Battery Storage

I had 300 watts on our previous trailer and now 660 watts of solar on our current trailer, haven’t taken the batteries out since the solar went in! I haven’t had a battery issue yet, the solar keeps the batteries “full”, no freezing. Here in WI it can get below zero, maybe not as cold as Minnesota but cold none the less. :B Dan

RE: B&W fail or Operator Error?

I'm NO expert but have owned a B & W hitch for 7 years and NEVER had anything like this happen! I'm sorry for your friend's predicament but IMHO that's operator error, sorry. :( Dan

RE: RV retail sales drop 31% April year over year.

"Over on the Grand Design forum those in the know said GD is down to 4 days a week and planning a 2 week shutdown in July for a retool. I'm sure other brands will follow suit eventually if they haven't already." I believe that! We moved from Elkhart to Shipshewana today and there are a lot of (new) RVs sitting around! There sure seems to be a "robust" inventory around! I guess time will tell for sure but it sure looks like the RV world is going to repeat history, as in '08. :h Dan

RE: RV retail sales drop 31% April year over year.

I would LOVE to hear what the assembly people building RVs here have to say about production levels and demand. We're in Elkhart IN right now and from the little driving around we've done so far there are just TONS of completed RVs sitting on mfg's grounds and in open fields here! It sure looks to me like they're close to capacity as far as inventory goes and I haven't noticed a lot of transporters out and about. I wonder at what point are these various manufactures going to begin slowing down, laying off assemblers?? Just my two cents...... Dan
