RE: RV retail sales drop 31% April year over year.

"Over on the Grand Design forum those in the know said GD is down to 4 days a week and planning a 2 week shutdown in July for a retool. I'm sure other brands will follow suit eventually if they haven't already." I believe that! We moved from Elkhart to Shipshewana today and there are a lot of (new) RVs sitting around! There sure seems to be a "robust" inventory around! I guess time will tell for sure but it sure looks like the RV world is going to repeat history, as in '08. :h Dan

RE: RV retail sales drop 31% April year over year.

I would LOVE to hear what the assembly people building RVs here have to say about production levels and demand. We're in Elkhart IN right now and from the little driving around we've done so far there are just TONS of completed RVs sitting on mfg's grounds and in open fields here! It sure looks to me like they're close to capacity as far as inventory goes and I haven't noticed a lot of transporters out and about. I wonder at what point are these various manufactures going to begin slowing down, laying off assemblers?? Just my two cents...... Dan

RE: Help with fuel transfer valve

MC, I’m not sure what’s changed since my ‘15 RAM but my truck didn’t come with a fuel cap either, just a “flipper” style closure. When I first installed the RDS in my ‘06 RAM I DID have a fuel cap. My installation into the ‘15 was similar to the ‘06. Under the truck up in the fender I cut the metal filler tube, spliced in the “T” with the rubber boots included in the RDS kit. Supposedly there’s a check valve setup to prevent over flow. I’ve never had an issue with fuel spills! I run the truck tank below half of more then flip the valve on the RDS tank and let the fuel from the RDS gravity flow into the truck tank. It looks “weird” to be running down the road and have the fuel gauge start climbing! LOL The install is fairly easy and having the extra fuel capacity is great!! Dan

RE: Help with fuel transfer valve

So you already have an RDS tank, why not contact RDS customer service and inquire as to how to hook up your transfer tank? They're awesome people and I'm sure they can give you a much simpler answer! I have a 2015 3500 with an RDS transfer tank mounted in the bed, it wasn't at all difficult to install, including the "RDS install kit" which is basically a "T" and some tubing! It's really pretty simple and straight forward. Call RDS, ask how to go about installing the tank in your new 2022 RAM, I'm sure they'll have an answer for ya! Mine's worked GREAT for over 10 years now! Good luck moving forward. Dan

RE: 6-point levelers for changing a flat

I made up a set of 4 of these, they work great! Just have to remember to slip them off BEFORE leaving your site! :) These weren't my idea, I "stole" the idea from another DRV friend! Thanks Everett! :B Dan

RE: Needless kaos and carnage on the Beeline highway...

Of all the places to get stupid, I guess that’s what happens when you lose respect for the road. Being from the Midwest that’s type of highway that one needs to pay attention on especially in bad weather conditions! I hope the person you saw survived and hopefully those that witnessed those crashes take something positive away from those incidents!! Unfortunately there’s a lot of bad drivers most everywhere. :( Dan

RE: two rivers nashville

We've stayed at Two Rivers 2 or 3 times, we like it there. We've used the shuttle each time and greatly enjoyed it, sure beats wasting time looking for parking! I would think IF the shuttles are running there would be some safe guards in place to keep customers safe. Easy way to find out, call Two Rivers or the shuttles people and ask what if any CIOVID procedures are being practiced. I'd be more concerned with the HUGE crowds downtown myself! :E Dan

RE: Removing clear silicone caulk from exterior fiberglass

I watched an RV detailer take clear silicone caulk off of a DRV Mobile Suites this spring while attending a DRV rally. The gentleman's name was Leon Kirby, he's known as "The Nomad Detailer". Go on You Tube and watch his videos, he's good at what he does! Leon demonstrated caulk removal using just regular old Mineral Spirits! The key according to Leon is to NOT be in a huge hurry removing the old caulk! It does take time but is VERY effective! It was amazing to watch him go over and over the seams with the mineral spirits and "soaking" the old caulk. With a plastic knife he removed huge sections (pieces) of the silicone by simply "working" the spirits into the seam! To do a 40' fifth wheel Leon claims it will take him at least 8 hours and he'll use at least a gallon of mineral spirits! His programm is to let the RV sit over night after removing the old caulk so it has a chance to "off gas", next day is spent caulking the whole rig, which obviously doesn't take near as long to do as the removal. Watch and learn...... You Tube is your friend! Dan
