RE: We all use different ways.

Very well said and no matter how someone camps as long as THEY enjoy that's all that matters.

RE: Taos in late April and May?

My son always warned us that at night that spot is not the greatest, glad you moved on, I know there are always a lot of campers at the Walmart lot at night, and your right the view at the Gorge is wonderful, we always look for the sheep climbing the rocks.

RE: Taos in late April and May?

Greetings from Taos! Beautiful weather with cool nights and bright sunshine during the day, so am so glad that i managed with your encouragement to overcome my doubts and come - though with the fires on the other side of the horizon just now I also feel lucky my home has wheels, so I can just turn on the key and drive if the fires come closer. Much tougher for those who don’t have this option.8
Very true about the fires, currently the largest active fire with a lot of folks already evacuated. Where did you end up getting a camping spot? We will be at the Taos Monte Belle campground in September on the way out to the Gorge

RE: Taos in late April and May?

Looking at the 7-day forecast right now for Taos there are a couple of nights that will be below freezing but days warm up nicely. I think you will be fine, most ski areas just closed in New Mexico, Colorado on the other hand could still be cooler, I would go and enjoy your trip.

RE: Pittsburgh to landcaster pa without using the toll road

I think getting up to 80 then drop down 322 thru State College area towards Harrisburg then depending where in Lancaster you're going which route from there; I know the tolls on the Turnpike are outrageous and not really sure how much longer this would be. DO NOT TAKE 30 especially after Breezewood.

RE: Tankless Hot Water Heater (Gas)

Our unit came with a tankless (Girard2) then while at a rally the manufacture switched it out to a Truma. Between the 2 I would recommend the Truma but from what I hear they require only that a Truma dealer install their unit.

RE: Locking fuel tank tops

My dad always said NOT to use the locking gas cap as they would puncture the fuel tank if they wanted it bad enough, just his opinin.

RE: Unique eateries

My contribution is Shotgun Willies in Red River New Mexico in the southern Rockies and right up the street is the red River brewery which is rated as the best brewery in New mexico.
Cheers!
:B
We just ate there between Christmas and New Year's, great food but was a little chilly eating outside this time.

We enjoyed this spot Western Kansas Saloon & Grill in Wakeeney Ks. An old hardware store now a restaurant with a neat history. Plus, a cute little town.

RE: Things to see Places to stay South to North Indiana

I would plan a stop in Shipshewana lots of touristy things and plenty of Amish cooking, we like the park at the huge flea market. From this area is a good base for Elkhart, Goshen and even South Bend and Southern Mi and also most of the rv manufactures

RE: Taos or Santa Fe, New Mexico

I would vote for Taos, Santa Fe was nice but more city than I prefer, I also agree about Red River, Angle Fire and Eagles Nest and especially Shot Gun Willies

RE: Colorado Springs to Taos New Mexico

I would do the route I-25 south to Walsenburg then take 160 over LaVeta Pass then turn left onto 159 which turns into 522 in New Mexico which will run right into the center of Taos.
The other route works well also but is longer and as said before twisty, but a very nice drive thru Cimmaron, Eagles Nest and Angle Fire. We did that route the first time but did pull over at the top of one peak to let traffic by that was backed up behind us.

RE: camping in Delaware

Another vote for Lums Pond State Park but be warned weekends book early. Depending on where in Newark you want to be depends on how long to get there.

RE: IVECO Daily: strange towing choice from Australia

A few folks here in the states use the cab over trucks which helps to have a shorter wheelbase then a conventional truck but as one gets older climbing in that type of truck become work.
Keep posting the unique rigs I enjoy seeing all the different set ups.

RE: Do you do this in the US?

With most of the new units here having power awnings we do not see much of this, power awnings are not as safe and secure to have out in winds as the old manual ones. I do have a tie down system with poles to secure mine but if winds get much above 25mph I stow mine away.
