RE: Flying J / RV Lanes

You are aware that Flying j fuel prices are higher than other stations! I just completed a trip through 3 states. The Pilot/Flying Js I stopped at or passed were the same and a few were cheaper as any other in the same area.

RE: Fuel costs for upcoming trip...

We just finished a 1000 mile trip. Gas was up but the memories are worth more. We will continue to travel as we want. Time can not be saved and not going eats into that time.

RE: A Quick Question

If you want to have some idea of your levels, you can get a set of these. They work fairly well and you can check on your phone. Propane monitor

RE: Buying New, Is there a Consumer Report Guide for RVs?

One section of the RV Travel Newsletter has reviews each week on RVs. You can look up old issues and see many report. RV Travel Be very careful when buying at any dealer as many are about the same as a used car salesman, especially Camping World. Read everything closely.

RE: How to increase laptop WIFI speed

I had an HP Laptop that used that wireless adapter. It had many issues over its life and one was slow speeds. I replaced it with an external adapter and all was right with the world. Am using an HP laptop Though it Wi-Fi's at 5 Gig.. The speedometer wrapped the needle round the pin when I plugged in a CAT 5 adapter and hard wired it. When mine is hard lined it performs great. When it was using the original WiFi adapter there were many issues. Adding an external USB solved these and gave me the 5ghz ability. The original adapter was only 2.4. By using hardwired Ethernet or a USB external WiFi card you are bypassing the internal Broadcom WiFi adapter which from the complaints I found when looking up the model number the OP gave appears to be either a flakey adapter or possibly flakey drivers. Has nothing to do with not being able to use 5ghz.. This seems to be a common and mainly a HP laptop issue with their WiFi radio cards. I didn't find any other laptop manufacturers with this same common complaint (they most likely are using other WiFi radio card manufacturers, Dell is using Qualcomm WiFi cards). Surprised the OP hasn't had this issue before although it is possible that their Frontier modem/router/AP 2.4ghz WiFi radio is going bad. Rather than beating ones self to death trying to figure out why the HP WiFi isn't up to par anymore on old PC equipment, bypassing with pretty much any external USB WiFi radio will most likely fix the problem permanently. On edit, Since the speed problem is mainly the laptop, the OP could take the laptop to any place like McDs or a coffee shop that offers free WiFi to see if the laptop connects at speeds greater than 7 Mbps. If they get a connection greater than 7 Mbps then it may be an issue with their ISPs modem/router/AP which may need replaced in this case. If they continue to get speeds of 7 Mbps at other locations that offer free WiFi. Then the issue must be the internal Broadcom WiFi radio card. The fix would be bypass with an external USB WiFi radio and not bother trying to figure out why the internal one isn't working correctly.. In my case it doesn't bypass it because I removed it completely from the unit (has a nice little removable cover). The new external one is all the way to WiFi6 compatible.

RE: Thousand Trails RV parks.

We have stayed in a few. Those in Texas, Tennessee, Florida and Illinois. The parks are free to members(although there are some surcharges, 50a service, etc.). We have noticed a marked fall in quality and service. You can make reservations through rvonthego.com if not a member. We were members for over 20 years and got rid of it 2 years ago due to all the issues.

RE: RV Insurance

Sent last message before saw ‘delwhjr’ post. Thanks- interesting, my State Farm agent said no such option was available! Will have to talk to them again! Unfortunately, companies offer different options and coverage in different states. Do have him/her check again ( check with agent directly not through their staff) and maybe cold call another state farm agent. I don't know if it makes a difference but I have had the same agent for over 30 years. They go over and above whenever I have called for info or claims.

RE: RV Insurance

We always have an agreed value policy on our trailer (past and present)One of our trailers, a 2001 Trail Bay, suffered a full wall separation while on the road; total loss. Insurance company paid the policy as agreed with no hassle including all the add-ons and accessories that could not be reused. We had State Farm at the time and still do. The cost of the policy is about 10% higher than an ACV policy.

RE: Pilot GoodSam RV Plus Card Issues

I had a similar problem with mine. The solution was to go online and manually change the pin code. Log out. Go back in and change the card to active. No problems since. I was advised to change my pin code every six months.

RE: trailer quality

We are thinking of changing from a high quality truck camper to bumper pull trailer...... can I ask advice of good quality trailers in the 22 foot class with walk around bed..... or maybe ask for those that should stay away from...... I'm assuming when they say ( micro weight, light weight & etc) that they are using less materials & other cutting of stuff to lower weight...... Have a ram dually now...... More interested in strong good quality over light weight...... Thank You I have a 2022 Rockwood 2109S. It is 22.3 feet. It has a queen bed that you can walk around. As far as quality this is my third Rockwood and I have had no issues with the trailers other than very minor quick fixes.

RE: Negotiating Trade-In

Just a few words of caution in these times. Certified or Cashiers checks are not always legit, check them out. Wire transfers are safer. Have someone around when you meet buyers. The offer from CW might be a come on with many ifs, ands, or buts.

RE: Any Benefits to 30amp to 50amp

Agree with rk911, the only real advantage is the 50a plug is usually in better shape. Another possible advantage would be if the 30a feed had a lower voltage level but you might not be able to get the other leg on the 50a with your adapter, so it would be a moot point

RE: Curt BetterWeigh?

That's why you buy at Amazon. Thirty days to try and when it turns out to be a bust, a full refund is given. No cost to return except a little time. Not everything is free to return. The item being discussed does have free returns. When buying you would decide if you want to buy something or not based on the return policy. I agree. Being a Prime Member is part of the equation also. Agreed

I tried it and will pass. The readings were very far off of CAT scale numbers.
