RE: GFI electrical question

This has been an enlightening dissertation on how a gif circuit works and I appreciate all the replies but I still don't see why 50 amps coming from a post or generators and coming thru the same plug in the side of the rv should affect the bathroom gfi outlet has two total different actions. Both sources travel thru the same wiring paths so why does the gif outlet interpret them differently?

RE: GFI electrical question

How would I ground to the shore power? I would think the 4 prong 50 amp cord would ground the unit??

RE: GFI electrical question

I understand the not resetting unless powered and it was. Also does this on several different campgrounds. The comment on inverter was good but you would think it would do it on both generator and shore power. Not just the one. Thanks for relies

GFI electrical question

I acquired a 2018 cruiser aire 28fd in October. Using it here in AZ this winter, I noticed that while using 50 amp generator power the bathroom gfi outlet which controls a couple more in kitchen area works great. When I switch to 50 amp shore power supplied thru a surge protector, this gfi outlet trips and cannot be reset. Taking the surge protector out of the system makes no difference. I installed a new 20 amp GFI outlet with same results. Since the power comes into the 5th wheel thru the same system I am stumped. Any thoughts or advice?

RE: Generators for 5er

Thanks for all your inputs. I finally had a full length shelf on the rear and had it welded to frame and beefed up the hitch also welded to frame. I then mounted 2 onan 4500i inverter generators hooked to gather with the onan supplied wire harness. This supplies 50 amps. Both have remote controls. When ac is not needed I hook the original supplied cord to one generator for 30 amps which is totally adequate for power without the air. Fuel (gasoline) consumption has been good using 5 gallons for 8 day dry camp in AZ last week with no air. Plenty of tv during high winds at fireworks show. Happy so far. $1295/generator and $200 welding.
