RE: Picture posting thread...anyone into it?

We have a friends 11yr old pup Samantha for the week as usual and the way she walks in and controls our pack of 4 is something I’d like Cesar Millan to explain. She is a beauty and we love having her. https://i.imgur.com/ermVZ3fl.jpg Our youngest pup hanging with DD16 before she left for work. https://i.imgur.com/e75i2FAl.jpg

This is one of the camp dogs from a stay at Highland Park Fish Camp in Deland, FL. No affiliation with this place in the least, but if you like rustic backwoods Florida with minimal but very comfortable accommodations and some really cool pups stopping by to say high it’s perfect. :):C https://i.imgur.com/vM5qevGl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/0sRKC0Il.jpg

Probably some good lamb chops in that herd :) This is what Cocoa beach looks like when the afternoon inland thunderstorms roll out over the ocean. https://i.imgur.com/oUZx8RPl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/oOD4MQzl.jpg A couple cool Jeeps in Flagler Beach, FL https://i.imgur.com/2S7YCsvl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/f5RfPVsl.jpg

RE: Picture posting thread...anyone into it?

Scottsnider asked "How to post pictures from my computer to a page?" The simplest way is outlined by the moderator's (BarneyS) post on 03/16/20. Yes, BarneyS gave a great rundown to read and here is a link to the RN.net picture host: http://photoposting.is-great.net/?i=3 I've shared hundreds of pictures here and couldn’t figure out an easy way to do it again but this works great.

RE: things are looking up

Congratulations on the new boat, what did you guys get? It is really hot in the Orlando area right now and we’re back into work mode so nothing planned this weekend. We spent Monday-Wednesday this week in Deland, FL at a place called Highlands Fish Camp and it was nice. They have cabin rentals with full kitchens and we rented a 23’ pontoon boat with all of the kids plus a friend coming for the day Tuesday cruising the St. Johns river all day and it was fun. We will be going back, the staff and everyone we ran into were friendly and helpful.

RE: 2019–20 CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC POSTINGS

We believe in the science behind it too. People in areas that are getting hot again like here in Florida that don’t wear masks in close public conditions don’t understand how important it is to slow the transmission. Besides the health side, how massive the economic impact will be if shutdown orders start again is off of the charts scary. A positive side of this Covid19 nightmare is we as a family have spent a lot of quality time together and hearing the same from other families. Crazy times but it seems manageable if everyone works together.

RE: Harbor Freight has lifetime warranty on hand tools

I probably have the same HF impact sockets in standard and metric still in their metal cases and they have worked fine in a non professional way here too. For work I’ve also bought odd tools, like large masonry bits for one use situations instead of investing in something a lot more expensive it could be many years if ever I’d use again. I do agree in most professional situations if daily use quality tools are what you need HF wouldn’t be my choice. Didn’t know about their lifetime warranty so that was nice to hear about and we have multiple locations within a reasonable distance. Tractor Supply is another place I’ve found useful for things we don’t normally shop for the larger places don’t have in stock at the store.

RE: Is anyone here into surf fishing?

Here the way the beach conditions change within a few miles is interesting and see this as a major advantage depending on what you’re hunting for. I’ve done a fair about of freshwater fishing here in FL and by far enjoy surf and inshore saltwater the most. But I would take freshwater over offshore having done that many times. Had to look up North Beach Camp Resort and it looks nice! Years ago we camped at a place called Beverly Beach Camptown in Flagler county and while the sites are tight besides a seawall you are on the beach. When our oldest was around 4 we caught 7 small sharks in the surf there with the largest probably under 3’ and a mix of black tip and bonnethead, and that was cool. Just looking into it but Volusia county has a commercial fishing permit that allows after hours beach driving access for surf fishing if you take their turtle conservation course and my wife and I are planning on doing that.

Is anyone here into surf fishing?

We used to surf fish regularly years ago and did again for the first time a couple weeks ago just north of St. Augustine, FL catching what I believe was a juvenile manta ray and that was exciting. What I’m getting seriously interested in is using a drone to drop the line and here’s a quick 2 minute YouTube to explain the idea getting out deep and beyond the breakers depending on the day’s surf conditions. https://youtu.be/oMEQX7sRk6Y I’m completely new to drones but was into RC cars and trucks years ago and this video isn’t showing the specific model I’m interested in just the idea I’m starting to research.

RE: Self Isolation (long for nature lovers)

Guy, just a thought. Share some pictures and I’d bet everyone would enjoy seeing them, I know we would. My wife was born and raised until an early teen in Key West. We leave tomorrow for 6 nights in St Augustine and have the fishing gear packed hoping to surf fish Matanzas Inlet that is close and have before but might not happen because we’re not taking my 4x4 truck and the sand is rough. Here’s a link to the RV.net picture hosting site and it works well if you don’t already have a host: http://photoposting.is-great.net/?i=2 Excellent rundown on current conditions, btw. I’ve read several articles on the positive impact this lockdown is showing so far on crime and the environment.

RE: Picture posting thread...anyone into it?

Dave, the place was called Long Doggers in Cocoa Beach with several hotdog options and a pretty full menu besides that. We went with the kids first and they left a day before we did going back the day we left getting just dogs. It was the best dog I’ve ever had.. like trip worthy good. Our bill for lunch without the kids was $17 total with probably a 30% tip.

RE: Picture posting thread...anyone into it?

A few from a trip to Cocoa Beach spending time in Cape Canaveral with two of our kids and their friend coming for the day yesterday. Monday and Tuesday the beach was almost empty and yesterday it was packed with walk on traffic but the experience was safe with the distancing orders from the beach, stores and restaurants that were open in our opinion. https://i.imgur.com/kLaUTvkl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/sXdAiRol.jpg https://i.imgur.com/dlpcEfvl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/tDak6WLl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/SbLE1G1l.jpg

RE: Mother's Day Sunday

My wife requested we get pizza and wings from our favorite place which sounds good. The kids handle the special gifts and probably have the last 15 years. Two unexpected trips we have planned mid and late this month as of last night are 3 nights on Cocoa beach with the kids then 6 nights staying in historic St Augustine without the kids or dogs with zero room charges for either, not even tax with her being a frontline healthcare worker and it’s definitely a much appreciated job perk for us right now. Happy Mother's Day to all moms here. Us guys think we're tough but we know who the real boss is. ;)

RE: What meal to cook next

That's interesting Delongtrevor and will read more about it. Once things return to normal I had already planned on being allergy tested because of sinus problems and what I suspect is an egg allergy. Fish was sounding good here too. We made salmon with roasted broccoli and cauliflower last night with leftovers for lunch today. For a recent lunch date in the car we had Cuban takeout from our favorite place and it was perfection as usual. https://i.imgur.com/pGw31f1l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/SqyYOpsl.jpg

RE: The normal things we miss?

Still haven’t been able to see my barber but that’s ok, actually kind of liking the longer look. Because of work today I drove through the Ocala National forest which isn’t normal but was a nice change of scenery.

RE: What meal to cook next

We have been getting more fast food and takeout the last couple of weeks than I would like to admit but have to say most of it has been good. Last night we made a Cuban picadillo that was really good!

RE: What meal to cook next

Made a great crockpot roast today and the key my MIL taught us many years ago was heavy seasoning and a good sear and have been having good luck using high heat grapeseed oil. https://i.imgur.com/debItxpl.jpg

RE: The normal things we miss?

Nice, looks like us guys do miss our regular grooming too, we’re so vain. Great input everyone. Wow Old Biscuit, hope you get through that well. About to share a food pic on another thread so don’t look until solid food is in order. Seriously, hope you get mended up soon.

The normal things we miss?

This isn’t trivializing our current worldwide problem in the least, believe me. But I do miss seeing my barber and worry about him, he’s mid 40’s and have been seeing him monthly for 15 years, a couple of years before he opened his own place. My wife helped me get trimmed up and our daughters helped her with her hair coloring. What's on your list?
