RE: 4 seasons toy haulers under 5000lbs dry weight?

i do not believe there are any true four season campers. there are some that are better but better insulated equals weight. there are several that would work for short trips in the cold but be careful of condensation especially with campers/toyhaulers built with aluminum tubes in the walls.

RE: Genesis Supreme RV Overnighter

dsrace, Did your unit come with 3 steps? Mine only came with 2 and its ridiculous how far off the ground it is. The only 3 step systems I find are 27.5 wide on the mounting box. My mount points are 25.5 wide. mine came with 3 steps. manual folding steps and i say that as i have seen pics of many with the moryde or lci tilt up steps ( step above). i did not want the step above system personally and they look like a great system. i have been known to stop on the shoulder of the road to use the bathroom in the camper lol so don't want those steps in my way to jump in. i do not have a pic at this moment but i can tell you that they didn't get the stops lined up with the door or visa versa. the door is forward of the steps roughly 2-3". normally it wouldn't matter much but as the door is only 24" to begin with one does notice the offset. here is the only only pic of the steps i have on hand. you can see one of the two sealed frame mount tool boxes i added. https://i.postimg.cc/D82cr84r/120571444-10159169778321490-1743662722126694715-o.jpg

RE: Brake controller craziness, advice?

i have had a prodigy p3 for maybe 5 years now. i do like it and will buy another as this one has had to be unplugged and reconnected twice now. it starts flashing and won't work so they do go bad.

RE: Rear Deck System Worth It?

wow that went south in a hurry :B letting bugs in, to long for some campsites, getting vd out on the deck, hopefully after dark :B (not exactly what was said but i find it funny) lol, all valid points to consider. plus the extra work of setting it up and putting it away, may be a hassle for some. i'll have an east west couch that will be down and in the way, which is why i opted for a side deck, with a 30" rv door rather than a sliding door. they installed a dog door in wall beside the door for one customer, which was a nice option. i will install a screen room for mine that i know i will use atleast 3 of our trips per year. the railings eat up apprx 6" of garage space so for some with toys that only fit by a few inches that may not be usable. i do like the tent/screen room option that atc offers for there rear ramp door. people with shorter toyhaulers and kids or pets may get use out of that option. does appear to be easier with 2 people. moryde has an inflatable room that i personally wouldn't buy as i would be afraid of puncturing it. https://youtu.be/GpmQ9gyj6c0 https://i.postimg.cc/CBLcQ95C/maxresdefault.jpg

RE: Rear Deck System Worth It?

I think the only time I'd be interested in using the deck if I could land a spot like this. They do a nice job walking through the 395ms also. https://youtu.be/nYykdajXX3U?t=590 that guy is funny. nice video

RE: Rear Deck System Worth It?

this post is a very interesting read! my wife and i purchased a genesis supreme overnighter last year. it has a rear door and a rear deck but no ramp gate per say. the rear deck with the awning i installed is our favorite feature. we do use it quite a bit on every trip. now having said that, if i had a rear ramp that converted into a deck i probably would use it. those 3 season doors look very nice but the ones i looked at used brush like material on the top and bottom for seals sort of. that won't keep the bugs out and a screen wall is nice until you zip it up and down a number of times. https://i.postimg.cc/RJw8brx3/thumbnail-IMG-20200718-111543.jpg we just put a deposit down on a new toyhauler. the overnighter is a very easy to tow unit that works for most couples no doubt. our kids want to start joining us on our dune trips so we need more room. we were spoiled with the fifthwheel toyhauler we had before the overnighter as well. so this go around i ordered a custom toyhauler. 30' oal, 26" box with a custom floor plan and 7k lbs of ccc. now they offer side patio that only protrudes 6" inside so i still have plenty of room for my sand rail. the nice feature is we were able to order it with a standard 30" wide rv door and a 24"x48" tinted sliding window. this way we can lock it. it will seal the bugs out and still has a screen door for the nice parts of the days. we will enjoy this for sure and once i seal the ramp it will be left out unless it's just flat pouring rain. these 3 pics are not of ours. ours is still on the list to be built. we did not order the rear patio set and not sliding door. just a reference of the side patio. i have a screen wall enclosure that will attach to it as well. i ordered our with a rear reversable sofa that fold out into a res queen bed. i did so as they offered a ceiling mount tv system so the couch actually faces the tv! https://i.postimg.cc/Thqv9mdt/142779963-411113726860545-1004430346075077517-n.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/w7q8bv3g/143114618-455218362181432-628290268755253047-n.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/D8xkVTbs/143166324-317080456407939-4639090467285158289-n.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/dZ8sRSW6/48368577-2211167305612960-5378760670617534464-o.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/9rhFXCMn/48419271-2211165625613128-6941855022325956608-o.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/7b7Zyfxz/62375025-2478738628855825-7046629065884696576-n.jpg

RE: 38' toy hauler suggestions

what about the 350g? the G class you cannot upgrade axles like the m class. that's because the m class starts with a better frame. maybe call dune sport and look into one of there custom fifthwheel toyhaulers.

RE: Birth of the toy hauler

i know alpha was the first but i will always consider ww to be the first. the new ww coming out of the rv factory is no ww toyhauler! they are a high end camper like all the other built in indiana.

RE: Anyone own a Carson Toy Hauler

i have never owned a carson, never even looked at one. i did just put a deposit down on a dune sport. no one builds what i an the wife want .... except dune sport. personally i didn't think the price was bad for a custom build especially compared to current market prices!

RE: Anyone own a Carson Toy Hauler

Older post of mine but wanted to follow up. I looked at a new Grand Design RV Momentum G-Class 21G here local and Blackdiamond is correct, your not stuffing a SXS in that Toy Hauler. Given what this thing cost new I was not impressed, just another cheap sticks and staples RV.It has a 14' long garage section that starts at 99" wide, and then drops to 72" at the cabinet area; 79" from the back. The CanAm X3 is 11' long and 64" wide (or 72" for the wide track model). It would be tight, but doable (I'm assuming the 2 Euro chairs are moveable). Of course you're not putting anything else in there other than perhaps a bike! 72" wide in stock form, at full droop with the wheels strapped. going to a taller tire you widen up a smidge. they need to be 80" wide min for ease of loading. they could easily build them this way with a narrowed base cabinet but they won't.

RE: Entry level toy hauler, forest river vs heartland?

I dont like my 2013 FR stealth. The installers at the time did horrible work that is to the point of being dangerous. 2nd owner so not much I can do but repair things as I come across them. Something one must realize is trailers, motorhomes or whatever are rattling and working their way loose as you move down the road. I've been around entry level RV's and top shelf and they ALL have issues. I had a 32ft. gooseneck wells cargo, went to a "C" for 6 years then went back to a TH again. Both TH I went with a strong frame as a first priority a strong frame as a first priority. The Wells I installed 12 ft. of living quarters. It served us well, my 2nd TH I went with the work and play. They start with a cargo trailer and go from there.Appliances are replaceable, its the main structure I care about. that statement says it all! anything labeled ultra light is no good.

RE: Couple of Ramp Questions

normally a 3k lb rated door is only rated at 1500 lbs as a patio. as i looked around a lot of doors were 2k to 2500 lbs. the wolfpack toyhaulers i owned were 3k lbs but flexed a lot. dep keep the maintenance up on the lower hinge. never had water leaks around our doors but if they were to tweak any i could see that. i would make sure and prop some wood under the edges of the door to level it out closer when loading and unloading so you don't tweek it. there are just a few companies that offer ramp door rated for 3,5,7k lbs. atc prob has the higher rated door. dune sport offer a 3k or 5k lb door.

RE: Entry level toy hauler, forest river vs heartland?

honestly i don't think there really too much different these days. the big part of the equation will be finding one with full width cargo of 14' and a min of 4k lbs of ccc. i couldn't find either with out going over 40'. i found dune sport custom builds to spec so i went that route. it won't be done until aug. i have owned 2 wolf pack toyhaulers, 1 genesis supreme and one keystone. the wolf pack's were def superior to the others!

RE: Genesis Supreme RV Overnighter

OK, first project............. Starting installing a monitor for the battery. I don't like drilling holes in the trailer, so I 3D printed a surface mount housing. https://i.postimg.cc/9RLM0JnH/Battery-Monitor-Mounted.jpg the 3d printers look like handy tools! nice job that is where i mounted my progressive industry ems30 display.
