RE: Campground availability on shorter notice

I to spent some time in NC and TN mountains last year, Pigeon Forge twice, Ashville NC, Hendersonville NC and never once had a reservation more than a couple of days in advance. Was also up through WV, PA, MD, VA then South Myrtle Beach twice, Gulf coast of FL twice, East coast of FL and back home. Always had nice spots (right on the beach at Myrtle twice)and never got turned away anywhere. I don't stay in State parks etc. Leaving in a couple of days for Bristol TN with no reservations so we will see how that goes. By the way if the price of fuel is holding you back you are in the wrong pass time.

RE: Traveling via B&B/hotel vs RV

Before I retired I had worked and traveled all over the world. Never had a RV out of North America. I hated living out of a suitcase and even though I always tried to stay in the best hotels some were dumps at best. Even stayed in some hostels in Europe. Its just the way it was back then. Now that DP in our barn has served us well and continues to. The only disadvantage to me as mentioned above is around big cities which I try to avoid. But sleeping in our own bed, going to our own bathroom, getting a drink when I wish, not having to pack everything up every time we move. Thats priceless. But everyone needs to do what they LIKE and live your own life.

RE: What should I do if my EPDM roof turns black

Makes me wonder---everything around here turns black from the atmosphere. Side walk, roof, anything light colored and horizontal. I wash and re-coat the DP roof and pressure wash the sidewalks every couple of years. Probably air pollution drifting from the cities out here in the country--LOL.

RE: Empty parks with no open sites.

And no obligation to the people who in good faith paid for, and gave their money, for a spot that you can then give to someone else? This idea would make me feel like a common thief. This must be designed for those that routinely show up without a reservation. I am done here as since in all these years of camping I have NEVER experienced this situation. Everyone be safe and have fun.

RE: Empty parks with no open sites.

I don't do state parks and such but in the past I have rented out about everything to others and have rented about as much for my own use. And if this in fact goes on its just asking for trouble unless it is made very plain in the contract that you can keep my money or lease my spot to someone else just because I am not there. You have to reserve and pay a year in advance and then show up late to find someone else has your spot? Get real. They keep a weeks worth of money for a year and don't have a spot for you? It would take a fool to fall for that trap. Now if it is made plain in the contract that this goes on after you have to pay a year out, I wouldn't go near the place...I don't think I have ever been sent a contract when reserving a camp site. So much for reading the FINE print. Does this really go on?

RE: Empty parks with no open sites.

As I said, I already paid for it. That example you use don't hold any water. What its worth, what it is close to, etc don't matter if I have paid the price they ask far a spot I have fulfilled my obligation and they should provide me what I paid for for as long as I paid for it even if I am not there.

RE: Empty parks with no open sites.

So you think you should be given something I already paid for. Really?

RE: Empty parks with no open sites.

If I pay for it it should be mine for as long as I have paid for it even If I never show up. Just because you think it is empty and someone else has payed for it and isn't there yet don't mean you get the space

RE: programing of Mercedes key fob

Thats about what I found. You can afford a Benz you can afford to pay, at least that is how they act.

RE: Water Front Property

I have an acre on a large creek (small river) in WV with water, septic system, and available electric I would like to sell. 12mi from Ohio river. I had a small house there but it is being removed because I let it get in bad shape because I didn't use it for years.

RE: programing of Mercedes key fob

A Dodge is a Mercedes cousin of some sorts and our Smart car is also made by Mercedes--in France. It cost us around $300 to get the FOB fixed. I refused but SHE got it straightened out---fixed, new, ???? I don't dare ask.

RE: Low tree branches in my development ..Update

State roads around here, out in the country, tall trees in some areas completely cover the roads and the only "trimming" comes from tall trucks hitting the low limbs.....

RE: F150 Lightning Road Trip & Ike Gauntlet Pull

Curious, Right now because of the heat they are talking "brown outs" because the electric grid is lacking capacity. What happens when all these electric vehicles hit the grid charging?

RE: RV retail sales drop 31% April year over year.

Shall I list the reasons? Lets start with SSI, food stamps, medical cards, free or subsidized housing, food banks, and there is more. If you know how to work the system the last thing you need is a full time job. Need some extra cash sell some of your free meds, mow a couple of yards. You think this is not going on you are unaware of the way the real world works. And then there is the way the numbers are juggled to feed the results they want you to see. Nothing negative.
