RE: Fuel injector hose leak on Monaco with Cummins engine

I had that same hose split, got a piece of 5/16 fuel injection line and fixed it. Also had one of the steel lines to an injector burst one time, I rolled it over, beat it flat and drove on home. Mechanic said I was lucky on that one that I didn't make a worse problem. Mine is an 8.3

RE: Nice Story fellow RVer

I had a kid named Ross Freeman in SC change the tire on my enclosed without even being asked---just went over there and changed it. I passed out a couple of years ago in FL and kids were watching my every move as I was nearing 80. I went to a race in TN by myself this past July and George Windsor from MD came to my DP every morning to check on me. But what goes around comes around as I have helped a few myself.

RE: Gasser guys and gals ...why not a diesel ?

Sorry people didn't mean to be so hard on you gas people. I only owned 1 gas and since then 3 DPs mainly because I couldn't stand the engine noise under my feet. All my DPs have been high end starting with a Winnebago Luxor and 2 Monacos since. Never had to replace a side radiator but had to replace the rear one in the Winnebago. Wasn't expensive and done in a day. Mr Tech, where is your "DATA"? 3/4 of the time I now tow a 32ft enclosed trailer with a car in there and I like POWER. If I want to ride I have to buy fuel as we all do and a 450hp Cummins loves fuel at 70mph. Late model gassers are much improved from years ago and I think the el cheapo DPs with the 5.9 cummins and cheap interiors are a thing of the past. I didn't mean to get some of you alls shorts in a knot so take a deep breath and realize we are not all the same nor do we think the same.

RE: Never saw this before!

I have only entered one once--they chased me and my friend down in Burlington, NC and took us back to the scales. My stuff was ok but his was not. The few $ he saved the way he was registered was nothing compared to the fine he paid and the trouble he went through. But I have been all over the US and have never stopped.

RE: Do you pay for winterizing?

Glad I live in the South. Even if it did get that cold here I would put heat in the house and all my water things are in the same basement compartment so heat it also. This has always worked.

RE: Gasser guys and gals ...why not a diesel ?

Maintenance? My DP has about 91,00mi on it. Change oil & filters including Gen once a year, about $200. Had to replace the heater core and some refrigerator issues (gassers have those also). So what is the maintenance issue? Just wait till that V-10 blows out a spark plug. My F-350 diesel has 165,000mi on it and nothing has went wrong that has anything to do with it being a diesel. Not many gassers go over 200k without serious problems. But the gas ones are a little cheaper and a lot of that is reflected in the quality of the "house" part as well as the drive train.

RE: Been a busy year

Nice! We put about 12,000mi on our DP in the year ending this past March. Never got past the Mississippi river, but all over the East. Hope to roll out once more pretty soon. I am 80 and the end of the road get closer every day.

RE: Running lights on cars

We have a 2020 and in the day time nothing is on unless I turn them on but at night the only time those running lights come on is when 0n low beam. They go off on high. Read my post Tomman, you can read can't you? I bought that 99 truck NEW in 1999 and have had 3 since then last being this 2020.

RE: Running lights on cars

They might try adjusting those running lights as they only work on the low beam but 1/2 the time are blinding you in the dark. I bought a 99 F-350 new in MD that came from Canada and the lights came on when you started it. I had the dealer disconnect that.

RE: Original RV price

Since I am the only owner I went in and looked at the sales papers from when I bought it in 1998. It is a Monaco DP 36ft long and new it was $287,000+ and after the trade in I paid $234,000+. Sure would hate to try to replace it today.

RE: Anyone else run out of diesel ?

I once ran out of diesel sitting at the pumps waiting for a woman to get her PU out of the way. Had no clue what to due. A trucker came over and took the air cleaner loose, sprayed WD 40 in there. It started and he kept spraying until it picked up fuel and ran on its own. A few years later ran the farm tractor out of diesel and did the same thing and it started and ran fine. Was told not to use starting fluid.

RE: Let’s hear your best MPG and driving style ?

I get 9.25 to 9.50 with my 8.3 Cummins towing a Featherlite trailer with a car on it driving 65--70 MPH. That was averaged over a 1500mi round trip mostly on I-95

RE: Had our catalytic converter stolen

you all had someone shoot up a school and out on $75K bond next day. Converter thieves don't need to worry as authorities don't want to be bothered

RE: I need help removing my broken water heater drain plug

Its plastic, don't make it harder than it needs to be and an easy out will only make it tighter.

RE: Battery replacement

I have 2 Interstates in my diesel pickup that are 9 years old. I took them out of my race car and put new ones in there couple of years back. But when I realized that Johnson Controls made them and Wal Marts I replaced 3 of the DP batteries with Wal-Marts at 1/2 the price 3 years ago. So far so good.

RE: Flying J frustrations - Alternatives?

First thing I want to do is get out of the camp ground and go explore. Its like a parking lot to me. Can get gas while roaming

RE: Replacement Water Pump

Since you can get one anywhere anytime why bother with an extra. I replaced mine this year because it had started leaking a tiny bit. It was still working and quiet after 20 years. I did fix it and put it in the garage. Hoarder!!!!!
