RE: Purchasing a Used Truck?

An excellent reason to avoid Utube videos. You do realize that yahoo gets paid by clicks to do that"stupidshit". I refuse to subsidize stupidity, or cupidity, either one.

RE: EV alternative for light/medium duty trucks

What would be the nefarious "agenda" of the EPA? Are there legitimate non-government scientists who disagree with the info they provide?Almost surely. The EPA has never been known for it's exactness in their research. Witness the renowned accuracy of the EPA mileage numbers. :) I grew up in the 60's and doubting government data is a fact of life. You believe what you want, and I'll believe what I want, and I guarantee that I'll be less surprised in the results.

RE: EV alternative for light/medium duty trucks

How about Myth Number 7: The Governmental EPA is neutral, and will only show what's best overall. They have no agenda. :)

RE: Dometic RM1350 left refridge door flapper problem

Remove the door and shim up the door with a washer or two under the door on the lower hinge. A pretty common problem. I didn't see the solution until I had removed the flapper and shortened it a tad so it still sealed but closed as it should.

RE: cheap solar panels

I would guess they only exist in the scammers' imaginations. :)

RE: cleaning roof and floor vents

Treated? Never heard of treating vents. Maybe not a BAD idea, but, IMO, an unnecessary expense.

RE: cheap solar panels

Thanks, piano, for pointing this out -- yes, it might be a scam, but it is worth looking into. As my kids used to say when they were teenagers, "Good lookin' out, dawg!" (I'm not sure where they got that phrase, but it sometimes comes in handy.)Really, there is no "might be a scam". They post all of this stuff so cheap you don't really feel it's worth it to fight them to get your money back. Guarantee you won't get any solar panels.

RE: In bed fuel transfer tank question

Considering it's going to be in the bed of the truck and subject to who-know-what impacts, sharp objects, etc., I wouldn't consider anything but aluminum. That's what mine is.

RE: cheap solar panels

Seriously? Normally $250, on sale for $60? You know what they say: "If it sounds too good to be true...". Looks like one of the ads off Facebook, total scam.

It can't get to the moon, there's no air for the rocket exhaust to push against.

RE: RV wind deflectors do they work we will see

US gallon =3.78 ltr, Can gallon =4.54 ltrs and when I said I got 16.3 ltrs per 100 that is 17 .177 mpg and that was pulling with 3.55 gears. 10 litrs per 100 = 28 mpg. Usually pull @ 1600rpm, and keep it in top gear.It makes no difference to me how you figure it, I'm not going to believe anyone will average over 11 American miles per American gallon. And 16.3 liters per 100 kilometers is 14.4 mpg, the way I figure mpg.

RE: RV wind deflectors do they work we will see

Okay, that makes a bit more sense since the Imperial gallon is about 20% larger than the US gallon. That translates to around 11 mpg. I can believe that. Nope. An imperial gallon is equal to 1.20095 U.S gallons so it is smaller. That statement contradicts itself. :)

RE: RV wind deflectors do they work we will see

Hey, if you say so. I pulled a 12,000 lb. 5th wheel with a 2001 Dodge dually six-speed, and got 12 mpg at times. Never saw 13 mpg, let alone over 14 mpg. Just color me very skeptical. That truck with the 6 speed stick is about the most fuel efficient truck out there. I assume you had 4.10's?Nope, 2-wheel drive and had the 3.51's. It did need to be in 5th below 60. :) The best mileage I ever got with the 15,000 lb. trailer in tow was a touch over 14 mpg. I was coming downhill from Albuquerque to Amarillo, and had an honest 35 mph tail wind. Filled up in Amarillo and used pencil and paper to come up with 14.1 mpg or so. I don't even remember what the lie-o-meter said. :)

RE: Leaf Spring Failure - Replace the Others?

How many RV’s are on the road that have never experienced a spring failure? Yet somehow you believe you got 4 bad ones. I say replace them all, then send the old ones to me for proper disposal.Well, there's "broken", and there's "need to be replaced". I'd be willing to be there are lots and lots of "need to be replaced" out there, but few realize it. The springs still work, kind of, but are kind of like worn out shock absorbers: you don't really notice how bad they are until they're replaced. When your springs start looking like W's, it's time. Most people simply don't look.

RE: Leaf Spring Failure - Replace the Others?

What are the weights on those axles? That's the first thing you need to know. That would determine whether you need to increase the capacity. I did that with my 5th wheel. I went from 3,500 lb. springs to 4,000 lb. springs. I have 7,000 lb. axles but didn't want to spring for the 8,000 lb. axles. More money than I cared to spend. The 4,000 lb. springs really seemed to make the trailer ride smoother, but hey, it's hard to tell. Look at the springs, and see how flat they are looking. If they're very flat, they'll almost look like a W. Mine were shot. But, honestly, with a broken spring on a 7 year old trailer, the others need replacing too. Just need to determine capacity.

RE: Pet Peeves in RV Parks

"A pet peeve, pet aversion, or pet hate is a minor annoyance that an individual finds particularly irritating to them, to a greater degree than would be expected based on the experience of others." No one says their RV'ing experience is ruined, these things listed are pet peeves. Nothing says they have to bother you, and I certainly don't let them spoil a second of my time. This is starting to sound like when you say you don't care for someone/something, you become an instant "hater". If there's nothing out there that irritates you a touch, then you're a candidate for sainthood. :)

RE: Pet Peeves in RV Parks

I'll cut to the chase. The only way to avoid the issues mentioned is to camp alone. If you are camping around others you will have to tolerate some behavior you don't like. Such as opening or closing the RV door or using the factory installed lights. If you let these minor annoyances ruin your camping experience shame on you.....and yes as already mentioned in the opening post, the OP sounds like an old grouch,Just because the factory installs cheesy LEDs all over the RV doesn't mean folks have to use them.:RAmen bruddah.

RE: Arctic Blast

How many days in advance did these people know these really nasty weather conditions were on the horizon? I'm sorry, but sometimes those stupid things you do lead to dire consequences. It is sad that people had to go out to rescue people who should know better. I don't mean to sound harsh, but if people can't use a little common sense, they they may pay the consequences. Sometimes life itself is harsh.
