RE: MorRyde IS is finally happening

I am on my 3rd fiver with the IS and disc brakes.... The moment my wife said "We will never own a fiver without the IS and discs" was the moment I knew they were good... And she is the BIGGEST CHEAPSKATE I know ! :-)

RE: MB travel park or Pirateland

Agree with the above.. It will depend on WHO you want happier .. Both are nice parks, with MBTP being more laid back.. MBTP has plenty of things to do, pool, game room, rolling river, basketball court, and activities daily.... BUT it always seams that there are MORE kids at Pirateland...Not to mention a TON more golf carts.....

RE: Are OTR truckers restricted from speeding?

I have seen the trucking industry take a 180 degree turn over the past 35 + years... The old hands are not driving anymore, its a new age of driver, and not one I agree with... With all the regulations, there has been a huge uptick of old drivers retiring and new, non English speaking drivers coming in.. I don't have a problem with them, its the fact that most cannot read English either which is a problem in many ways. I would bet that we take 12 or 15 trucks a day in just 1 or our warehouses, and I bet 2 or 3 of them cannot hardly back into the 14' wide bay door. Then once unloaded, we have to go through all the paperwork and determine what is ours as they have NO CLUE... I have met a few, non English speaking drivers that were awesome, they are now working for us, and speaking English ( kind of )

RE: Are OTR truckers restricted from speeding?

My trucks had a governor , would only go 64 MPH ! I never got a speeding ticket ! What was aggravating was to be behind some one going 63 MPH , we could never get up enough speed to pass ! AT 1 point I had a lease Freight Shaker from Ryder Truck ( back in the day ) .. got friendly with the shop manager, it cost me a case of beer to get that thing turned UP.... Now its all computerized and cannot be turned up unless corporate gives the OK.....

RE: Bed cover for F350 with fifth wheel hitch

I have towed 3 different fivers with my Roll-N-Lock retractable cover.... What a nice option to have on the truck... When not towing, the cover is closed and mostly water proof. But more importantly, it locks. Out of sight, out of mind when it comes to thief's .

RE: Additional fuel carrying capacity on pickup

Most of the Ford SB have 26 gallon.... IF you have a lot of extra capacity, invest in a Titan - Titan Fuel Tanks They add 55 gallons and the tank fits where the OLD tank was under the truck. I have 32 gallons and wish I had more. My last DRW had 35 and I liked that amount. I carry a 5 in my toolbox and have used it once in the last six years. But no way would I sacrifice my big bed height tool box with a transfer tank. If I did anything different It would be adding the 55 gallon TITAN. My NEW truck has a 48 gallon tank... I will never tow a fiver without a long BED again.....

RE: Calling weight police - help

My brother in law just took delivery of his 2022 F350 lariat, 6.7, 4x4 , Short bed.. his payload sticker is 3600# as the truck sits..... Deduct the fifth wheel hitch 150#... wife - 120#- dog -60#.. that's 330# to deduct off the 3600 before you even get to the trailer....

RE: Are OTR truckers restricted from speeding?

Being a CDL class A holder, NOTHING has changed.... Other than you MAY be seeing the new crop of drivers out on the road... A lot of the older drivers have retired or just stopped because of the rules and regulations... A lot dropped when the E.L.D. ( Electronic Logging Device ) rules went into place last year ( I believe) .. We just hired 2 new Class A drivers, right out of driving school and they for sure drive the limit, or slower....

RE: Recommended must have for 5th wheel

Considering their other thread is asking what is the BEST SLIDER HITCH for the 6.5 bed, that tells me its a SRW . NOW, I know that I tow a heavy fiver with my new SRW, BUT this trailer they are talking about has a DRY weight of 16,000# with a DRY hitch weight of 3,250# So, I would say that the best option to het for your new trailer is a another new truck...... AT least MY combo starts off UNDER all of my numbers, and stays UNDER MOST of them, but more importantly, under the IMPORTAND ones... RAWR, tire capacity. Sorry, I know you didn't ask about the truck, but I was lead into that conversation 2nd edit... Now you want to add a 50 gallon fuel tank into the bed. that's about another 425# of fuel into a 200# tank.?

RE: Carrying a 500 lb motorcycle on the back of a Solitude 5er

No question, a TH is the best way to haul toys!! The OP has a nice FW, that he's not likely to change out. The OP is in Minnesota, lots of double towing, all over the midwest! As with anytime, if you are stretching the law, you need to have a plan, which also includes being prepared to PAY the consequences! I stretch, kinda make my own rules sometimes, too many to mention, but I figure when I encounter that one grumpy old cop, OK YOU GOT ME, do what ya gotta do. You say, "what if we were all like that"?? Well thankfully we aren't! :) Jerry Jerry, the Rebel ! ! ! :B

RE: Carrying a 500 lb motorcycle on the back of a Solitude 5er

FWIW, I traveled through, and stayed in, several eastern states including Virginia, North Carolina, West Virginia, and Georgia pulling a Smart Trailer, which is a swivelwheel-type trailer. I was never given so much as a second glance in any of those states, or any others AFATG. Of course, YMMV. I moved to using a toyhauler about 10 years ago, and haven't looked back. I agree, and FWIW, I would also not hesitate BUT . . . There is always that 1 super cop that needs to show his intelligence of the law. . . I had one of those a few years back while towing my fiver around DC...

RE: Carrying a 500 lb motorcycle on the back of a Solitude 5er

Ron, that is considered "double tow" and I know that anywhere in the EAST that is NOT permitted.. Quote - "In general, you'll find that every state along the Atlantic Coast bans double towing except for Maryland. Hawaii, Washington and Oregon also make it illegal to double tow" That's why folks look for the swivel wheel trailer.... That is NOT considered a double tow. I believe ?? Someone here will correct me if I am wrong..... Here - Swivel Wheel by Cruiser Lift On edit, It LOOKS like it will depend on how you want to interpret the local state laws - quote -"A frequent question asked is if the Swivelwheel system is legal to tow in all states. There are basically 22 states that do not allow double trailer towing, some of them call it triple towing. We consider the system an extension of the Fifth wheel or motor home. (Not a Trailer). Although we do not agree, The State of New York has decided to re-class our swivelwheel system therefore, it could fall under the double/triple towing law. A trailer is classified by a ball mount, our Swivelwheel system does not utilize a ball mount. There are other classifications but the Swivelwheel just does not meet them. RE: Carrying a 500 lb motorcycle on the back of a Solitude 5er

As most are stating, it can be done.. The issue will be the factory receiver, MOST of them are rated for 300# carry capacity, or 3,000# tow capacity… that carry capacity would NEED to be beefed up.. There are a couple members on here that haul their HD’s on the rear end of their fiver…BUT ALL made modifications

RE: Splitting

Are you talking about the outside skin, near the front bedroom slide corner? A vertical split/crack from the corner of the slide , Or something completely different???
