Don't have a toad. That's why I asked about parking a 26' RV. Don't want to take Uber or such. thanks

RV parking in Bardstown, KY

Are there any places in Bardstown, KY to park a 26' Class C while touring the town?

Bit the bullet and reserved a site. 28 feet to the power pole, according to the reservation site, but 28 ft to where? Gonna find out. Chose the site because of Google Maps Street view. Seems to be the most level site there and with our planned comings & goings we want a quick & easy in & out. May regret this but, oh well won't be the first mistake we've made. Hopefully it becomes a pleasant memory and a new insight into interpreting the RV Reviews!

RE: Favorite way to skip the interstates?

I'm curious about avoiding highways. Our Garmin RV890 is designed for RVs and many times we do get off the beaten path and it warns us showing a RV with a ?. But it still takes us that way. Would we have to endure this warning the entire trip being unsure of what's up ahead? Guess we'll have to try it on our upcoming trip in territory we're familiar with.

White Acres sort of scared me also. Been thinking of Taylorville Lake SP, but it's like 40 minutes from Bardstown. And is still a Kentucky state park, so no idea where the power pole are located. Still checking into it. Open for thoughts & ideas.

Looking to staying here (MY OLD KENTUCKY HOME STATE PARK) late Sept early Oct and know nothing about this park. Got a 26' class c and looking for a level site as we plan to be coming & going quite a bit and don't want to drag leveling blocks out every day. Water is nice, but 30 amp is a must. The reservation site isn't much help. Our plan is to hit a couple of distilleries in the area, so we'll probably be about most of the days. Another concern is that it seems that KY parks have a tendency to place the power poles aways from the actual pad. Is this true here also? Read the reviews, searched photos, etc, but what are some of the sites that best fit our wants, if you know of them? thanks

RE: New Ford V8

When we bought out 2020 Phoenix Cruiser we were told that it was the last of the V10's.

RE: Campground availability on shorter notice

We are looking to book some time in mid October near mid to eastern TN and am having a devil of a time finding openings. As opposed to other posters we do prefer State, COE and even some municipal parks. Don't like spending out time in what looks like a RV sales lot, or as I say awning to slide. I guess we're just too picky about the site we take. Don't need FHU, but need 30amp, level site. Being older, we only travel a couple of hours a day, so we stay at a lot of places and like to spend some time there.

South Dakota park with hookups

Looking to go to the south eastern portion of SD, but want level concrete, asphalt or even gravel sites with hookups. Electric (30 amp a must) water & sewer are a plus. We are prefer state, COE or even municipal parks. Private parks if need be. Leaving from either St. Louis, MO &/or Elkhart, Indiana depending time of year. Plan on spending a week or so before heading home. thanks

RE: Best cell phone provider?

IDMan, I agree. We are the same. My only comment is that our ATT hotspot allows us to buy time/data when we want it, with no connection fee. Verizon charged us a connection fee plus data/time costs. While on the road Verizon was in and out if at all. ATT pretty consistent. But always looking for a better deal.

RE: Electrical question

And back to the subject if I may. My air conditioner just quit & showed a E7 code, Which I found out is loss of power. Checked my EMS and all reads normal. No error codes or anything out of norm. Turned the air off. Turned off the breaker at the post & waited a few minutes. Turned the breaker back on and then the air. It ran all night. What caused the loss of power? No coach breaker was tripped. All worked fine after I did this? Was I wrong again/

RE: Electrical question

time2roll, that's what I did the next day after I thiought about it. Used my dog bone & the 50 amp & all is fine. Did report it on our way out. Thanks all for helping me understand.

RE: Electrical question

Thanks for your opinions, mostly. I did feel that many others showed no signs of having EMSs so I thought it should work without dire consequences. Guess I did luck out. But thanks to most of you I hope to be wiser than before. To those whose inept attempt at scarcasm only reveals your lack of knowledge on the subject I feel sorry and apologize to the reading audience for you wasting their time. I did ask, because I was trying to learn.

Electrical question

Been a camper for a while, but relatively new to the RV style. 26" Class C (actually a Class B+). Pulled into our reserved camp site & set up. Slides out, leveled, water hooked up, plugged into electric (with EMS) and ready to settle in. Hotter than blazes so the air was turned on. After a few minutes we lost power. As I frantically ran in circles and turned off the air & everything else I could find the power came back on. I thought that's great. Then I looked at the EMS and saw an E2 error code. Open ground. Being electrically stupid, I thought good it foud the problem. All was clear and up & running. Turned on the air again and within a few minutes it happened again. Not knowing what to do & ringing wet from the heat I removed the EMS and plugged directly in to the power poll. All worked fine. Was I just dumb & lucky or what. It was far too hot to do without air as DW & I are asthmatics & have respritory issues. It was getting later in the day & campgroun was full so no place to go. Was this a totally wrong move on my part or what should I have done? thanks

Smokey Mountains area

Thinking about some time in October going to the Smokey Mountain area with our 26' Class C. It's been years since we've last been there and thought it time to revisit. Can only imagine it has changed some. Our last trip was in the 80's with a pop-up tent, so our needs/wants have changed. And so we're looking for ideas/locations. Tennessee, North Carolina or where ever. Not big on private campgrounds and much prefer state or COE or even municipal parks. Electric is a must. Want to avoid the tourist traps, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, etc. Just quiet pleasant campgrounds to plop for a week or so. Maybe a nice local eatery or two wouldn't hurt. Sights are always a plus, as long as there are no bill boards or neons. Trails of moderate exertion are always welcome. DW is a water fall nut, so they're also preferred. Thanks

RE: Power drain

OK Grit Dog, what do you think is the cause? Keep it simple, I'm a dummy, please.

RE: Strange Gray Powder

Could it be residue from sliding the drawers in & out? Like something is rubbing. Or even how the drawer fits into the opening, rubbing against the top of the opening, causing the powder to fall onto the contents of the drawer?

RE: Power drain

That's what I did. I put a knife type switch on the negative terminal and the issue has stopped. What had prompted the question is that I had the coach at the repair shop to have the catalytic converted replaced, third one stolen, and this one had a CatClamp installed and the part is on back order. So I had to remind them about the cut off switch to save from buying another battery. Just a minor inconvenience unless you forget to tell some one. Thanks for all the replies.
