Beartooth pass

Has anyone seen an RV, of any type, on Beartooth pass? Are RVs even allowed on the pass?

Antelope Canyon

This coming fall we plan to visit Antelope Canyon and surrounding area. We haven't been there before. If you have been there please clue us in on what you enjoyed the most, times of year to go there, different things to see, places to camp etc.

RE: Water leak, we cannot find.

We have been parked in the same site since January 5th of this year. We are winter Texans along the gulf coast. So the trailer hasn't moved and it really hasn't rained enough to talk about all winter. The shower is located above the trailer basement so if that is the location of the leak I'd think the basement would be wet, but there is no water in the basement. This leak seems to be below the basement, granted there really isn't anything below the basement other than that plastic membrane. So all I really know is that the leak is very low in the trailer. We will be heading for home in about two weeks so we have decided to cut a hole in the membrane at the lowest point and just head for home. If it leaks along the way all the water will be able to escape out the hole. Once we get home we'll take the trailer to the dealer where we bought it and let them find the leak and fix it. When I first noticed the badly sagging plastic membrane hanging down so low and obviously filled with many gallons of water I panicked a bit, but with the help of ya'll and thinking it all through I've calmed down and we'll be fine going home. Thanks for your help.

Water leak, we cannot find.

Today water started leaking out from between the membrane on the very bottom of the 5er and the metal frame the screws that hold it on are attached to. Upon inspection, the membrane was full of water all the way across the trailer and the entire area in from of the first axle was sagging severely. We shut off the water spigot, cleaned everything out of the basement, there was no water in the basement, and removed the wall to gain access to the area behind the water valves. With the wall removed we inspected everything and saw no leaks. So we turned the spigot back on there were no leaks anywhere. Next, we turned on the water in the kitchen sink, bathroom and shower one at a time. There were no leaks. After that we removed all the screws that were holding the membrane on one side. Here, we could see where water had been, but couldn't tell where it was leaking. I think our next step is to remove all the screws from the membrane in front of the first axle and pull the membrane down to get a better view. But before I do all of that, I thought I'd ask all the knowledgeable people who might have been here before. Is there a better idea than removing the membrane? Can you offer me any ideas of how that area could get wet? The wet area is all below the basement floor. By the way our trailer is a Grand Design Solitude 369RL.

Delamination

The back wall of our 2014 369RL Solitude is delaminating slightly. We have no clue what is required to repair this problem. It doesn't look like an easy fix. Please share your personal experiences with this type of problem and what you think is the approach to repair it.

RE: Norcold Refrigerator

I spoke too soon. This problem is still a problem same as before. The tray fills up with ice and then water spills over and lands on the floor. The back of the tray is definitely lined up with the outlet tube. When we open the outside access to the back of the frig, we can see no drain tube/hose etc. We can see nothing that looks like some kind of drain. Short of pulling the refrigerator out of the trailer and getting behind it, we don't know what to do next. Does anyone have a good idea how we ought to proceed?

Norcold Refrigerator

Our Norcold, double wide refrigerator has a puddle of water under it every morning. The manual address this issue at all. Can any of you help us out here? We don't know what to do next. Thanks.

LED RV Awning Party Light with Mounting Channel

Has anyone mounted LED rope lights under their awning on a 5th wheel trailer? As an aftermarket product how did you power it?

RE: US 12 Lolo MT to Kooskia Id

You should be fine on that stretch. I've ridden it numerous times, usually on the motorcycle, but a semi could travel that road so you shouldn't have any trouble at all. It is a beautiful area, enjoy.

Route 160 in Colorado

Has anyone pulled a 5th wheel from Walsenburg, Colorado to Cortez? We will head from Minnesota to Sequoia NP in September of 2022. On that trip Route 160 would work well provided it doesn't have hairpin turns and severe switchbacks. Thanks.

RE: Pocket door

We have decided to cut a rectangular hole (about 6x14) in the wall of the bathroom up near the top. With the hole we'll be able to get tools and our hands in there to place screws in the channel and up into the ceiling. Once the door is repaired we'll cover up the hole with a decorative panel of some sort that will look attractive. Thanks everyone for all your help.

RE: Carrying a 500 lb motorcycle on the back of a Solitude 5er

Thanks everyone, your comments are much appreciated. I'm going to check out a small enclosed all-aluminum trailer pulled behind the 5th wheel. It does have limitations, but won't hurt the 5er.

Carrying a 500 lb motorcycle on the back of a Solitude 5er

Has anyone carried a 500 lb motorcycle on the back of a Solitude 5th wheel? Did you reinforce the receiver hitch on the trailer? Any negative pin weight consequences? Please tell me about the pros and cons of doing such a thing.

RE: Upgrade from 2500 to 3500 Question

When the trailer weight gets up around 12-13,000 lbs. it is time for a diesel IMO. Also, at that weight a DRW is so much better than SRW it is amazing and so very much more pleasant to tow.

RE: Pocket door

We've now found two screws on the floor down in the pocket area. We think these two screws were used to hold the channel to the ceiling. When the door is fully in the wall/the pocket area and we just begin to close it, the bottom of the door moves first. This is because the full weight of the door is hanging from the channel under the part of the channel where the screws fell out. So not much is holding the door up at that point. So the solution seems to be to remove the door and replace the screws that held the channel to the ceiling. The problem is that I don't think I can get my hand and arm into the pocket opening far enough to replace those screws. Do you all have some good ideas here?

Pocket door

The bathroom pocket door on our 369RL Solitude has suddenly become loose and positioned at an angle to the way it has been. DW found a 1/2 inch long screw lying on the floor nearby, but we can't find where it came from. When we pull the door out of the wall to close it now, it twists like a parallagram in the doorway opening. Once the door is half-way out, it straightens out. But the initial tug on the open door feels like the door will fall off. Can anyone help us out here. What adjustments are possible here?

RE: Tires again

We currently have Samson tires on our trailer that could be up to 7 years old. The 5er is a 2014, we bought it in 2018 so we don't know for sure how old the tires are. We have traveled about 15,000 miles with these tires. I have always kept the tires aired up to 110 lbs. Now I'm wondering if we should just put the same tires back on. The blow out did put a hole in the sidewall about the diameter of a baseball. But is it possible that these current tires are at the end of their useful life span?

RV APP

Is there an I-pad APP especially made for RV application that would provide a warning for any given road as far as low bridge height, too curvy for a long trailer etc.?

RE: Tires again

We are currently in Boone, NC and will find new tires while we are here. I just called a local truck tire place and they are recommending Carlisle tires over Hercules. Do any of you have experience with Carlisle tires?
