RE: Piney Campground

Just a quick FYI we stayed at Hillman (on the north end) and Piney on the south end. We felt Piney was far superior. At the time of our visit Hillman shower houses were old and in need of some work. Hillman has more trees but our Dish Playmaker had to be moved several places to get service. At Piney one setup got us service.

RE: Piney Campground

We stayed there a couple years ago and it was very nice. Nice , large , level sites with easy access. Very clean campground with a very attentive staff. It was a real ,quite and relaxing place with good walking areas. Bath houses were clean and well maintained too.

RE: Help!

There is a good chance the pipe cut out when they cut the hole for the pipe to attach was left in the tank and is drifting over the outlet blocking it. An inspection camera would help solve your problem.

RE: Forest River Wildcat OR Grand Design Reflection...???

We went from an Outback Sydney edition to a 2016 GD Reflection 3030rls. It has been such a pleasant change. We love the 303rls it has fit us perfectly and normally we only heat with the fireplace and if it is below 35* we use a small electric heater, 20's we kick on the furnace. With cooling when 90's we start with both air units to cool down then go to one in the living area. It is ducted to the bedroom so it is whisper quiet in the bedroom for sleeping. We've had it 3 years and made several trips to Florida in the winter and stayed up to 6 weeks. Remind us of staying in an apartment. We could not be happier. Even better we could sell it today for more than we paid for it.

RE: Is there a quiet water pump?

I had a noisy pump in a 5th wheel I had. The pump mounted to the floor so I added a rubber pad under it and I added an accumulator tank. It really quieted things down and at night the stool could be flushed several times without the pump coming on.

RE: Do They Make 5th Wheels Like This Anymore??

I had a 1987 Coachman Frolic 18' fifth wheel. I used it for hunting and 3d shoots for 12 years and it was so easy to use and handle. I flipped the axles and it weighed 3800# empty. It was great and I could take it anywhere . Just sold it 2 months ago and got more for it than I paid 12 years ago.

RE: Can morbidly obese person use a travel trailer?

A friend of mine's son weighted just over 500#. He lost his job as a truck driver because he kept bending the stairs on the truck even after the trucking company had moved his seat for his stomach to clear the wheel. He wasn't that heavy when they hired him ( 275# ) but when he continued to gain weight they asked him to lose some. All that did was make him bitter. After losing his job he eventually fell thru the floor of his mobile home and had to call the fire department to get him out. If a mobile home couldn't hold his weight I have doubts that a travel trailer would hold up the weight of your friend.

RE: How long do you drive/tow in a day?

When we go on long trips like Florida I try to do 10 hour days. Usually that is 2 ten hour days and then the last is about 7-8 hours. I have done a marathon of 16 1/2 hours once but, swear that won't happen again.

RE: Trailering

I prefer one that is easy in and easy out on the right hand side of the road. That said I've had times I had to back in or back out. Doesn't matter I can back as easy as go forward.

RE: Any innovative ideas for lugging a heavy/awkward generator

I have one of the light, folding 2 wheel dollies and it is great and so handy. It will handle 100# plus with ease.

RE: Dollar General grocery?

When we are down in Florida on the "forgotten coast line" the closet Walmart is 80 miles. But, there are several DG close by. Every small town seems to have one even when there is no regular grocery store.

RE: Dollar General grocery?

Last year in the Florida panhandle area we found 2 or 3 Dollar Generals with fresh produce so, they do exist. This was the first time we had found this but, were pleasantly surprised.

RE: Marco Island RV Park

Many years ago my Mom and Dad stayed at the Naples KOA every winter. It was very close to the bridge going over to Marco, seems like a few blocks. They loved it there. You might look into it. It was very nice then. To the best of my knowledge there was no rv park on Marco then and as expensive as land is there I rather doubt that there is a park on Marco.

RE: Opinions on Grand Design Fifth Wheels

We have had our Reflection 303rls for 3 years and couldn't be more pleased. We have had 3 other brands in the past and this is our favorite. The worst was a Keystone Outback 5th wheel that had a fire in the middle of the night with water heater wires. Don't want that again.

RE: Busted!

Some are nicer than me. I'd find out by going house to house asking who the trailer was offending. When I found out I would try to reason out the problem and if we couldn't work it out I would politely explain that they would walk the straight and narrow and any thing they did I would turn them in and make their life miserable too. That's why I live in the country on many acres and have no problems with neighbors.
