RE: Jacking up with MorRyde IS

I did make them. They are 3/4" AC solid core plywood glued with Permatex PL3 and screwed. There are no internal supports even with 17,500# setting on the four. The front boxed are longer and do have a pc of 3/4" plywood mid way vertical. They are holding up well with 6 years of full-time use. I cut all the pcs from one pc of plywood. https://i.imgur.com/F5xoKYRl.jpg I made what Ron has made for the TT we bought and sold and one reason was for jacking the TT if needed as the frame was very high. Also for electric jack. chevman

RE: Need a new propane detector

JimR1 Perfect idea. I build many items using wood so I guess I would do our idea using thin wood chevman

RE: Sailun tires

I watched a video of a couple leaving in their new fifthwheel yesterday and soon after leaving the dealership a sailun tire blew. He was so happy to have a quality tires and soon after getting rolling a new tire blew on the new pickup. So as I always tell NOTHING IS PERFECT. felt bad for them. chevman

RE: Differential Service

We have an 05 3500 chev dually bought new and now has 113K miles on the truck. I have changed the rear fluid 13 times because it was an easy job for me to do. Kinda overkilled all maintenance but the truck feels and drives like new. chevman

RE: back to gas v diesel

Not every trailer needs a diesel engine. Several guys have good reasons because their style is not much towing. chevman

RE: Centermatics or Balance Beads ???

I have the centermatics on this rockwood we have but how can you tell when it was hard to feel anything in the truck unless maybe a big problem so time will tell if you see something but we will never know as this is again the last rv trip for us. I bought ours from Mr truck.com Lots of semi's have the centermatic and same here the new goodyear endurances we bought were not balanced from discount tire. chevman

RE: Do's and don'ts of towing a loaded 12" tandem behind 5vr??

In construction I always referred to feet and inches as it can be confusing. Example if someone says cut to 54" and you are used to 5' 4" that is a bit of a problem. Bottom line proper communication is where it's at. I am sure Larry will concur! Proper communication is everything needed for less mistakes and a reason to not have music playing when working. chevman

RE: New Reese hitch; confused about unhitching.

I have just purchased a new Reese 5th-wheel hitch on my 2021 Ford F350 with puck system. I have not yet tried to hitch the trailer because I don't want to screw up. With the arm pulled out, the Reese jaw remains in the closed position. (Hitches that I have used in the past all had the jaw in open position.) When the kingpin comes in contact with the jaw while backing slowly, I hope that pressure of the kingpin will open the jaw. My real question is about unhitching. The instructions say to pull the arm out to the click position and then rotate it toward the truck. By playing with the hitch, I see that rotation of the arm opens the jaw. OK, so far. But the arm does not want to remain in the rotated position, so the jaw closes again. Raise the landing gear off the ground 2" and see what happens. chevman Even though the jaw is closed, the instructions say that the trailer is now unhitched. Will the jaws open to release the kingpin when I drive forward? That's what I to know before I try hitching up.
